Coping strategies for sleeplessness?
Can anyone share their coping strategies for periods of sleeplessness please. I have personal worries and am sleeping very badly. I can't get up and wander the house/make myself warm drinks etc as I disturb other members of the family. I can and do read in bed and this works up to a point, makes me sleepy, but as soon as I lay down the worried crowd in again. My mind goes around and around in circles. I'm tired all day as a result. I've tried herbal remedies and they help up to a point, but make me feel hungover the next day. I do not want to turn to prescribed medicine. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, and PLEASE no smart answers re sex toys etc.

3 AnswersOther - United States9 years agoDog pee on carpet. Will steam cleaning rid it of smell?
I look after a variety of dogs, while people are on holiday. (One at a time) Unfortunately, over the years, some of the dogs have had 'an accident' in one of my rooms. I always soak the urine up immediately, and spray the site with deterrent. However, I've noticed that the last few dogs I've had, go mad sniffing around the area of carpet, and then pee. There's obviously a residue of smell there, even if I can't detect it. Will a professional steam clean remove the odour completely? Anyone with experience of this? Your opinions would be welcome.

I need a new lightweight vacuum cleaner and as I care for dogs while their owners are on holiday, I need one that's good at picking up pet hair, both on carpet and tiles. Any help gratefully received!

1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden9 years agoCan I save my bamboo?
I left a friend to water my pot plants while I was abroad during the recent hot spell. I came home to find many of my beloved and prized plants dead or dying from lack of water. One in particular a Black Bamboo has lost most of it's leaves, just a few green ones clinging on. I've given it plenty of water, but so far no new shoots are appearing. Is there anything else I can do, or should I just give it up?

On a similar subject-what about heating water? (Gas central heating). I've been putting my hot water on for one hour per day (I have a light usage). Would it be more cost effective to leave on 'constant' as a friend has suggested?

Does anyone know where I can buy radiator shelves, the sort that sit on top of the rad, not a full cover. I bought some from Wickes a few years ago, but they have stopped stocking them. I've searched on-line with no luck for the size I require (60cms) Any info gratefully received.

The pair were part of a group in "exile" for part of the series, which meant meagre rations of rice and beans.
A lack of meat prompted the contestants to apparently catch, kill and eat a rat.
D'Acampo, 33, said in the show's video diary room the Bush Telegraph: "I saw one of these rats running around. I got a knife, I got its throat, I picked it up."
The group, including 30-year-old Manning, ate the rat and enjoyed the meal.

3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoSnow in Britain-should schools close?
When I was a child it was almost unheard of for a school to close because of snow. These days it's the norm. Why?
I trudged 2 miles in the snow if the buses weren't running (it was in hilly Wales) to and from school on a daily basis, and never thought anything of it, in fact it was an adventure to be enjoyed.
What's happened to the staff of these schools, that they give up at the sight of a bit of snow?

Please - can anyone suggest a way of removing a large quantity of masking tape - been left on for weeks due to poor weather, and inability to finish varnishing conservatory roof. Now almost impossible to get the tape off. Have tried white spirit and specialist stuff called "Sticky Stuff Remover".The tape is proving almost impossible to remove, and when the paper is laboriously scraped off-it leaved the adhesive behind. Please help,I'm desperate. I phones Screw fix "Helpline" to be told that "I'm not allowed to advise you in case what I say results in you wrecking your roof, and you sue us" What the hells he doing on a help desk?
