My TV has turned on by itself for two days in a row at the same time in the middle of the night at 3:00am. I ve lived in my house for fifteen years and it was new when we bought it and nothing weird has ever really happened in my house. My TV is two years old and has never acted up before. When it turns on, the DVD that s in my TV plays. The remote is not that close to my bed so I don t think I m pressing it. Also, my TV is plugged into the same outlet as my fan and my lamp and usually my phone charger. And only my TV is affected, none of the others. I m not sure what is causing it but it scares me and wakes me up. What do you think it is?

I have a ledge in my house with a very long drop to the bottom, as there is a series of stairs that it overlooks. Lately, my cat has been jumping up there a lot and the ledge is fairly narrow, so it is likely he could slip down. He seems to do it for attention while my family eats dinner (we can see the ledge from the dinner table). Every time he jumps on the ledge, I quick grab him and lock him in the bathroom for a few minutes. This method definitely is not working, as he still does it everyday. He gets lots of attention during the day, before dinner, and after dinner, but I can't satisfy that need during dinner. He recently lost some weight (he's been on a diet and he's been exercising extra). Perhaps his lean new body is giving him extra energy.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to prevent my cat from jumping onto the ledge? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

So, my father and I decided for this Halloween that we wanted to create a railroad fright for the trick or treaters as they approached our house. We already have a brand new train horn, the Wolo electric 12 Volt Train Horn, but the battery died out, as it has been sitting in our garage for a few years now. Our idea is that while trick or treaters walk on the sidewalk of our house, we will have a motion sensored bright light on a line that comes forward while the train horn blows, and we will have a chalk railroad on our sidewalk. Our biggest question is how to get a motion sensor and how to hook it up and how to get started. We don't want to spend too much money, not over fifty dollars. We have asked several employees in different stores at the electrical stores, but they did not know. Please help us.

So Erica happens to be my name and I wanted to know if people pronounce the name Erica as EH-reh-kuh or Air-reh-kuh or any other ways as I've heard more than two. I personally prefer EH-reh-kuh because this is what my family calls me, and what to me seems correct. The "e" and "r" together cannot possibly make an "air" (like the air we breathe) sound, right? (But there's probably some exception to a grammar rule somewhere that I don't know)

So how do you pronounce it and WHY?

BQ: Because all of my friends call me air-reh-kuh and I really don't like this particular pronunciation, how can I tell them to start calling me eh-reh-kuh?

So my friend and I have been having debates at lunch (3 to be exact) on whether or not God really exists. My friend is not an Atheist; however, she's not totally sure whether or not she really believes in God. She bases much of what she knows of science and math and believes that everything unexplainable today will someday be explainable by science. I have given her a great deal of evidence proving Christianity, but she does also have convincing evidence for her side. So I wanted to know if there is anymore evidence that would help me prove to her that there is a God and the Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

If you are an atheist, can you give me tough questions to answer concerning the existence of God so I can practice my responses to get ready for tomorrow? Also feel free to give your own reasons for why you think God does not exist.

This is for a history project about immigration, and since I'm a girl, I'd also like to be a girl in this project but I don't know if there were many girls/women who were Irish and immigrated to America during this time period because I know it was mainly young men. Were there any girls/women who immigrated from Ireland to America during 1800-1900s?

Just so its out there, I never have cheated and never will. However, I have noticed, along with many of my friends, that people are cheating in school all the time. Students in my high school are ALWAYS cheating and they NEVER get caught! They use the internet on their phones to look up answers, do it the old-fashioned way by writing all over their hands and arms, have open notebooks conveniently placed for their eyes to see, and many other ways. They often have their phones out right on their desk for all to see...even the teacher, and the teacher does NOTHING! (This is probably because they think that if their students get good grades, no matter how they earn them, it will reflect well on themselves)

So what I want to know is, if you are a cheater, why? What makes you so special than everyone else that you get an easy A while everyone else (well not everyone because there are more than more cheaters per class) has to study their butt off? Why is it that because you decide to cheat and other people do it the right, moral way that the person who cheats could potentially get the same grade or higher as the person who worked for their grade?

Maybe its only where I live, but I don't live in a bad place. To the people who are not cheating, thank you. Why do you think these people have no moral values? Why do they think they are better than us...because they must if they think that they deserve to cheat?

People also always cut in line at lunch...not particularly in front of me (because if they do cut in front of me, I give them a really dirty look). This irritates me so badly!!!! Do these people have no respect or consideration for anyone? The worst part is that nothing ever happens to them.Staff sees them and does nothing to fix the problem. They just ignore everything. What do you think?

My answers:

I am Roman Catholic because that is the religion I was raised. I also believe in saints and confession and the seven sacraments which are some of the things that define Catholicism...as are more. My parents and siblings influenced me into Catholicism, but I don't have many objections to others sects of Christianity.

So, I really want to hook it up to Direct TV but it doesn't seem to be working. I hooked the wires to the plugs and the cable of the Direct TV to the back of the TV, but when I turn on the TV, it just seems to be the TV connection...no connection of Direct TV at all. I'm clueless when it comes to this but I feel like I've tried a lot and nothing's working.

My guinea pig, Callie, just died during last night!!! We knew it was coming because that day she didn't look so good but then she perked up and we thought she would be alright and make it through the night. I found her in the morning all stretched out the way she lies when she's super comfy, but she didn't move and she was hard and cold. My other guinea pig has been kind of sad now though. They are/were five years old, almost six, and have been together since they were babies. I don't want my other guinea pig, Abby, to be sad and lonely and depressed. At first today, she wouldn't eat and wouldn't come out of her little house, but now she's eating and seems happy sometimes and I'm trying to give her lots of treats and love, but sometimes she doesn't even look up or realize that I've come into her room and she tries to bury herself in her bedding which is something she's never done before. I know Abby will be lonely without a mate, but I'm not allowed to get another mate for her because my mother won't allow it, although she too loves guinea pigs and is deeply mourning our loss, and because of financial issues. What should I do to help Abby during the grieving process? Why is she burying herself? What can I do to help myself get over the loss of my beloved Callie because I am a total mess right now? and how long is the average lifespan of a guinea pig?
