  • If you found a dying baby bird on your porch, what would you do?

I found a infant bird on my porch this morning which apparently fell from a nest. It was either paralyzed or too weak to move, but was breathing. Today is supposed to be very hot, and I fear that it will suffer or burn on the sidewalk.

I told a co-worker I would have shot it if I had lived in rural area. He called it wrong since it would be like playing God, and said he would put it in a shoe box and place the boxed bird in a bush which I thought was wrong since it would ensure a more slow death.

Neither of us wanted to touch the bird since we don't know if it was ill or not.

Anyway, I'm just curious as to how other people would react to this situation.

  • What are some good wedding songs?

My fiance and I generally like 80s music, she suggested Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode, until I pointed out that the lyrics contained "vows are spoken to be broken"

    Any suggestions?

  • What do you think is going to happen in Pakistan?

The new Pakistani government is giving many concessions to the Taliban, even though the Taliban never holds up it's end of the deal to disarm or stop violence. Now, they hold a significant piece of land in Pakistan and are armed and enforcing their version of Sharia law.

What do you think will happen to Pakistan and the surrounding area?

Will Pakistan dissolve into a failed state?

    Will other countries intervene?

Will Pakistan become like Afghanistan? (pre 2001)

  • Would you go to a tea party if it was non-partisan?

Democrats, do you feel that government spending is out of control and that taxes are too high?

Republicans, would you still attend if most of the criticism wasn't focused on Obama?

Libertarians.... Well, I'm sure they'll be there :)

  • What kind of franchise fast food store would you open?

That's about it. I'd like to open a Sonic, because there are none around here, and people generally love them.

  • What do you think of the tea parties planned across the nation?

I'm upset about government spending, but that has been going on as long as I've been old enough to pay attention.

I want to protest, but I feel that the tea parties are more partisan. All parties are guilty of runaway spending.

Do you think the conditions are right for a tea party in the historical context? That is, do you think that the situation is somehow similar to the original Boston Tea Party?

    Thank you

  • What are some good zombie movies?

I've always been a fan of the Romero films (although Land and Diary were a bit of a let down)

And I like 28 days later a lot.

    What are your favorites?

  • What power does a HMA have?

I ride a scooter to work (something they knew about when I moved in) and some kommisar from the HMA stopped me as I was riding to work and told me I wasn't permitted to have a scooter and that they had been "notified" that a scooter had beens seen in the complex.

Do they have legal power to make me sell my scooter, or will they appropriate it to fund their militant wing?

    Thanks!

  • (Access 2003)Can I use an update query to add data from a calculated field to a table?

I'm trying to add a field to a table that uses a value calculated from a query. Can an update query do this? Or is there an easier way?

    Thanks

  • How common is Anemia in men?

My mother has Anemia, and lately I've been getting very dizzy and lightheaded. I thought it was withdrawl from medication I had been taking, but it's been over a month now. I know Anemia is more common in women, but I wasn't sure if it was hereditary.

Or does this sound like it could be something else?

    Any help is appreciated.

  • What are some good books on the Revolutionary War?

I'd like something non-fiction in somewhat of a narrative format if possible. I'm currently reading 1776, but it can get a bit dry even for history books.

    Thank you!

  • What will happen w/ Sudan's president after the ICC called for his arrest?

This is an unprecedented move. Will he get turned in? He has been defiant so far. Is this a hollow gesture on behalf of the ICC?

  • Tell me lies tell me sweet little lies?

You know those lies you hear, and they could be true or they may not be?

For instance: My family is very well off because my grandfather invented six-pack rings

    Give me your best please!

  • What's the deal with Roman military boots?

The caliga (sp?) seem to be heavy duty sandals, perhaps fit for campaigns in the more arid regions, but did they have this same footwear in, for instance, Germania and Briton where the climate is considerably colder?

What was the reason for the caliga, since it seems a simple boot would be much easier to create except for the material cost?

If there is alternate footwear, could you provide a description or a link?

    Thank you

  • Am I ethnically Jewish?

My Great Grandparents on my Mother's side were Jewish, and it's been passed down on the female side at least to me.

My Mom isn't practicing and is adopted so she didn't know her family but I found out posthumously this Jewish lineage. Does that make me an ethnic Jew?
