Lower Back Pain, L5 through S1, according to drs. I've been dealing w/this 5 months. Any help?
I am F/54 yrs. I had X-rays 10/21 that showed: degenerative change present with narrowed L5-S1, disc interspace and some sclerosis. Posterior spur formation is identified. Minimal degenerative changes in the anterior bodies of the 4th and 5th L vertebra. Degenerative changes in facet joints at L4-5 and L5-S1. Slight scoliosis convexity to the left.
Then a Bone Density Study. Findings: Average BMD of the left hip in the AP projection is .935 grams/cm. T-score value -0.05. Z-score value is +0.59. There is no evidence of osteoporosis or osteopenia.
My doctor said: "We can either send you to pain management, or do an MRI." I looked at her and said, "I think I should find out what is causing the pain before I mask it in pain medication." I felt like slapping the dr silly to even think of numbing my pain as a remedy when no one knows what is causing the pain!!
So, I'm scheduled for an MRI the week after Thanksgiving.
I hurt in the middle and to the right of my very lower back. Does convexity to the left mean my spine is curving to MY left? And if so, why do I hurt on my right?
What do I do from here? What is going on with my body??
3 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoHas anyone been to the Arkansas Diamond Park?
Considering taking my 13 yr old son on a long awaited vacation. I thought going to the Diamond Park might be a "manly" kind of thing since it will be just Momma and him. Any thoughts? Have you been there? Is it just a tourist trap?? I says you look for the diamonds in a field that the plow every so often. That doesn't sound to good. We live in Central Illinois, so I don't want to drive forever. And it will have to be a cheap vacation.
2 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoPlatys and guppies, both with swollen bellies and discoloration.?
I have a 29 Gal tank with 5 adult platys and 2 adult guppies. They are both breeding well with 5 to 8 babies in all in the tank. However, the platys bodies/bellies are huge/swollen and are very pale. The babies even have large bellies. The dark platy's scales look almost irredescent.
My water is hard (300), but over all very good. I have an underground filter plus a Whisper filter on the side. The fish are reproducing, no clamped fins, nothing else that looks like parasites or disease. They swim normally, except that the are so fat/thick.
Any ideas?
3 AnswersFish1 decade agoCraig Fergusen Fans - Listen Up?
Just how big is Craig Fergusen in the TV world? The world of Letterman's World Wide Pants? I think Craig is the best late night host around. I love Dave, but Craig just hits home with me. Is that because I used to drink too much and did some drugs? Or is it just because he is that damned good? If I could, I'd buy stock in Fergusen!!!
Any thoughts?
1 AnswerTalk Shows1 decade agoFalsification of Education?
I am 54, and have experience in all positions I apply for. However, most positions require a Bachelors Degree, and I only have an Associates.
It is my lack of education that keeps me from even being interviewed. I realize, that if an employer finds out after you are hired that you don't have the education you stated, it is reason for immediate termination. But, I've never worked anywhere where education was even verified.
I'm at my wits end, as you have surely surmised. Any thoughts? How many have lied about education on there resumes? Is it common?

8 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoSoul Deep belief in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Yet, questions about reincarnation.?
I am a Christian, born again, baptized. And I know in my heart Jesus Christ is with me every breath I take. I feel His presence within me, and I know I am saved.
However, I have always had feelings for as long as I can remember about who I am. When I was 3, I was fascinated with my Littlest Angel Viewmaster reel. I remember sitting beside the window, on the second floor of our house, looking out, and wishing I was that little-est Angel. It's like I'd been there before.
I have an insatiable need for the ocean, the waves, the feeling of flowing up and down in that warm water. In 2004, my 8 yr old son and I went to Sanibel Island, FL. I had been there in 1978 with the love of my life the father of both my children. I remember standing on the Sanibel-Captiva "connection". I stepped onto nothing but small sea shells, I walked way out, as it was low tide. I looked at the beauty, and the sky was orange. It was that moment I decided to get off the birth control. I had my first son18 months later. When my 2nd son and I went to Sanibel, the ocean water was 87 degrees. Everynight it was low tide at dusk. We both swam way out. We floated with the rise and fall of the warm water. I can't describe how comforting it was to me to see my son enjoy what I yearned for; And, for both of us feeling so content, so free.
I also have a deep connection with the southwest. The Indians of the southwest. I went to Arizona, and I felt such a connection, a need, a yearning to "breath the air, to look up to the skies, to envelope myself in the essence of the desert".
So why do we humans have such a deep connection to obscure places/feelings?
Sometimes, hence my question regarding reincarnation, I think I've lived by the ocean, or in the ocean, or traveled by ship. I wonder if I wasn't a pure spirit bound American Indian.

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSmall, ant like bugs carrying out granules from the base of my toilet.?
I have recently rented a house, built on a slab. It is the "buggiest" house I've ever lived in. My landlord sprayed for earwigs, after I identified what they were. I have some kind of a very small (1/16th of an inch) reddish ant looking bugs which I've just realized, are carrying out small granules at the base of my toilet. I took about an hour trying to get one with tweezers, but didn't succeed. I know I have to call my landlord, again. But, I also have big pincher bugs, that are a beetle of sorts, I can't remember what they were called. I live in East Central Illinois. I think the root of the problem is moisture at the base of the house.
Can anyone help me identify what these little red bugs are doing? Better yet, what are they?

2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoHow can I remove single layer of wallpaper from a recently built home addition wall ?
I built on a home addition in 2004, the walls were primed. I had a room professionally wallpapered. They used a sizing, then additionally used glue on pre-glued wallpaper. It seems to be a very good job, however I want to remove and paint now. In one previous question regarding a similar problem, I read where I could just prime over the wallpaper, then paint. I'm just not to sure about that! Should I invest in a stripper such as Dif, use a water and laundry softenerer mixture I've heard of, rent a wallpaper steamer or what? I know it's going to be a job what ever I have to do, I'm looking for the most timely remedy, but a very efficient one, also. And if you have any experience in painting: How can I get a super smooth painted wall appearance? Is it priming and good quality paint? Is it oil base instead of latex? I'm painting a neutral color to last many years. I've always used Pittsburgh paints in the past.

5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoUnique bird song, east central Illinois. I have a nest at the top of a fir tree. Very loud, distinct call?
I haven't seen the bird. I know it was in the tree, because of the song I heard. The nest seems to be quite large (8-10 inches in diameter, and length). The call was very striking--there were three of us in the immediate vicinity, and we all turned our heads.
It seemed to be a "chuk-chuk-chuk-chuk", or a similar "cuch-cuch-cuch-cuch-cuch", repeated at 30-60 second intervals, approximately 5 times within a few minutes. That's when I really started looking and noticed the nest, at the top of a fir tree, about 40 ft tall.

1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoLabor Laws involving Children-My 10 year old son has been issued a check for "work done in February".
Need info on Child Labor Laws. The company issuing the check has described "Work done in February" as the description. It is obviously a contractual agreement, because no taxes were taken out. The amount is $12.50. (Not the issue.)
Any Child Labor Law Lawyers out there?

1 AnswerNetherlands1 decade agoI have tried to find others who smell roses, and there are several, but none I can contact.?
I am 51, and since I was 19, I smell roses within 2 or 3 weeks before someone I "know" dies. It first happended when my best male friend was murdered. (I'm female). The second time I can remember was when my father died from a stroke at the age of 41. The third time was when my 29 year old brother in law died of a not known congenital heart defect. And then again when a business associate and his wife were killed in a plane crash. They were neither close to me, nor important to me in anyway I can recall.
It seems to me, or I accept it, as a warning. A warning to brace myself, knowing death of someone I know/love is in the near future. And, it doesn't matter where the scent hits me in correlation to who it might be.
Any info, links, etc., to help me figure this one out, is welcomed. I am a Christian.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI am 51, and need $ for education?
My position was eliminated after 14 years. I have lots of experience, but that doesn't get me in any doors.
I seem to have all of the knowledge for positions I am worthy of, but I don't have a bachelors degree, only Assoc. I have found Kennedy West University, where I can accomplish a bach. degree in a year or so. But because it is "Online", I don't qualify for grants of financial aid. I don't want to borrow on a Student Loan.
Any helpful information/contacts would be so, so, sooooo appreciated!
