How many times per night should I be nursing my 5 month old?
I'm having so much trouble finding a conclusive answer. She's 5.5 months old and weighs 19lb, and she's exclusively breastfed. Solids will start at 6mo.
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow can I stop my baby waking up 6 times a night?
My baby girl just turned 5 months. She used to sleep through the night, and more recently had been getting up only once around 4am to eat. Since she turned 4 months, she's been getting up at night more and more often. I am at my wits' end. What should I do?
She's 97th percentile in weight and breastfed.
11 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow to iron a sewing hem evenly?
I'm supposed to fold down 1/4" of fabric and iron it in preparation for hemming. How can I get an even 1/4" across the whole 27" of fabric?
4 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agohow do you get a 2.5 month old to nap?
My 10 week old is a pretty good sleeper overnight, but resists daytime sleep unless she's in her swing. Are there any good ways to get her to nap in her bassinet or crib during the day consistently? I typically swaddle her, nurse her, and then put her down, but 9 times out of 10 she immediately wakes up and fusses. I pat her/jiggle her gently and offer a pacifier, but it only works for about 5 min. Thanks in advance!
16 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWhy did my baby stop sleeping through the night?
My 9 week old slept through the night reliably from 6 weeks through 8.5. Then she got her 2 month vaccines on Friday (6 days ago) and hasn't slept through the night since. It gets worse every night, and now it's even worse than when she was a newborn! Any suggestions?
11 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoConstantly breastfeeding 8 week old?
My baby girl, who will be 8 weeks old on Tuesday, nurses constantly. We're talking at least once per hour and the feedings go for at least 20 minutes. She fusses at the breast, which makes it even more frustrating. We've seen a lactation consultant, and confirmed that she's getting plenty of milk at feeds, and she's growing well/has good diaper output. I'm losing my mind, though. Any suggestions?
The only positive is that she's started sleeping REALLY well at night---generally from 8:30 to 9 until 5 or 6 am.
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow do you get rid of subconscious stress?
I don't feel stressed out mentally. I'm not worried about the economy, swine flu, or anything else to any severe extent. However, I have what I know from past history to be stress-related stomachaches. How can you get rid of stress that you can't connect to anything in particular?
2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoI need to take a cat to the vet, but he doesn't allow us to touch him. Help!?
We adopted a cat from a shelter. He had been abused and then abandoned, and he doesn't let us touch him. He rubs up against us when feeding him, but that's all the contact we get. When we moved houses, my husband had to just grab him the best he could, and it resulted in a bite all the way down to the bone that was very painful and got infected.
We have to take him to the vet. How on earth are we going to do this? I'm very worried---more about getting him to the vet than anything being that wrong with him.

8 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoShould educated women wait to have children?
As a college-educated, professional woman in my mid 20s, married for 3 years, I'm surrounded by women who wait til 30+ to start their families. I found today that 30 is the average for college-educated women. I never really thought about waiting that long, and wonder if there is something wrong with me (emotionally, logically) to ponder starting a family in the later 20s instead of 30s. Any thoughts to share?
13 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoAre there any factors correlated with morning sickness in pregnancy?
We're thinking about trying for our first later this year, and I was just curious whether there are any factors that suggest you'll have morning sickness or not. For instance, is it correlated with your own mother's experience? How easily you become queasy in general? Gender of the baby?
Thanks in advance :)

9 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoI've given up sugar and junk and yet gained a few pounds?
What gives?
I eat nothing with excess added sugar or any HFCS at all. I snack on blueberries instead of chocolate and eat fish for lunch instead of junk frozen meals. Why the heck would I gain some weight?

6 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow can I find out my truly ideal weight?
I've used various calculators, some of which say that at 5'4" 126 I am too heavy, some that say right in the middle. How can I really know for sure?
I have a body fat Tanita scale that shows anywhere between 20.5% when dehydrated to 15% when fully hydrated/full stomach.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhy won't my dryer get my clothes dry?
I have a gas dryer...it seems to be getting very hot inside, like it's supposed to, but the clothes aren't drying. The vents are clear and there's not any lint problems. Any ideas? Should I call the repairman/buy a new one?
