Rewire ceiling fan switches so that two switches separately operate fan and light?
Facts:
1. Current setup has two switches in the same box that are redundant, meaning each switch works fan and light
2. Box has (3) 14/2 and (1) 14/3 wires
3. The (4) white neutrals are all tied together
4. Grounds are all tied together
5. Black from the 14/3 connected to a terminal of a single-pole switch
6. Red from the 14/3 connected to a terminal of the other single-pole switch
7. Blacks from all (3) of the 14/2 wires connected together
8. A fourth black wire extends from the wire-nut (from #7 above) and connects to the terminals of both switches
9. I have no idea what wire is what as they travel into the house framing but I assume the 14/3 goes to the fan. I don't know which goes to the panel. I don't even know why there are four wires.
10. I obviously have limited knowledge and experience (YouTube tutorial trained, so just enough to be dangerous) 😜
If possible, I'd prefer to separate the switches such that one works the fan's light and one the fan itself. Help!!
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)7 years agoSecurity permissions and file sharing problems!! HELP!!?
1. Four computers, all running XP Pro/SP3.
2. All stations on same workgroup
3. Simple file sharing turned OFF on all stations
4. Can see all stations in workgroup
5. Cannot access each other in browser; error msg: "\\(name) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource..."
6. I AM the administrator and logged on as such at each station
7. Using Westell 327W router via Verizon DSL
8. Two stations connecting via ethernet cable, two via wireless
9. Guest accounts turned OFF on all stations
10. All can ping each other.
11. Windows firewall turned OFF on all stations
12. All stations running McAfee Anti-virus, configured for file-sharing
13. In sharing/security tab, cannot see other computers to manipulate permissions
14. NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled on all stations
15. Internet connection works on all stations
16. All users have unique accounts at each station
17. Each user's login/password is identical at each station (but not to each other, of course)
18. "Routing and remote access" disabled on all stations
19. IP Addresses are dynamically assigned. I couldn't figure out how to assign static addresses (or to disable DHCP) on my router.
20. Station #1 to #2, #3, #4: OK
21. #2 to #1, #4: asks for a login and password ()
22. #2 to #3: Access denied to folder (although I can see it in the workgroup).
23. #3 to #1, #4: OK
24. #3 to #2: Access denied to folder (although I can see it in the workgroup).
25. #4 to #1, #3: OK
26. #4 to #2: Access denied to folder (although I can see it in the workgroup).
27. I tried going into sharing and security for the folder I'm trying to share on #2 and I can't see other locations to add specific permissions.
28. Printer sharing works fine...

7 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoITunes and multiple .mp3 players?
I'm on the verge of subscribing to ITunes and I've done some research online to determine if it's really what I'm looking for but I'm getting mixed opinions and conflicting reviews. I have an old (but never used) Ipod Shuffle. My wife has a SanDisk player (typically used with Rhapsody). My daughter has some off-brand player. Since we all have different players we want to be able to benefit from one service. That said, I'd need to be able to download music to the computer and be able to transfer it (as an .mp3 file, I presume) to the hard drive, a CD-R, or any one of the .mp3 players. From what I understand, ITunes allows you to only download music directly into an Ipod or the ITunes player and you can't just transfer music to other folders in the hard drive or to a CD-R. I've heard of a program called Tansee Ipod Transfer which should help accomplish what I'm looking for (in conjunction with ITunes) but I've found mixed reviews about it. What is my best course of action?
2 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade agoYahoo! SiteBuilder corrupted??
I built and published my website (www.cptjackfitness.com/index2) using Yahoo! SiteBuilder. I've had no problems with design, publishing, or opening/closing the program file. That is until today. When I went to open Yahoo! SIteBuilder, my web page files open, but with what looks like file corruption. I can't see any text in the tool bars and the page design views are also corrupted.
The only thing I can think that I did to screw something up was to move the .html files from my page into another folder on my hard drive. I backed these up onto a CD-R on Friday.
I've already tried reinstalling Yahoo! SiteBuilder but got the same result after it was loaded.
What do I do? I don't want to start from scratch on my page. I spent dozens of hours on it!!!

I need to determine what size lot I would need in order to accommodate a 4,000 sq ft building, parking for 40, and a 1/8-mile long by 7' wide oval track. I have a figure based on my own calculations, but I'd like to get other educated opinions...

3 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoTax Software: Basic vs. Home/Business?
I'm considering using tax software to file this year. My tax situation includes:
Single-member LLC
Rental Property
Bought a house and had a baby
Depreciation, etc
Moving Expenses
etc, etc
According to the TaxCut and TurboTax websites, all of these forms are available on the "Basic" versions, which costs anywhere from $30-60 less than the home/business versions.
What reason would I have to pay the extra money for the upgraded versions if these forms are available for the cheap versions??
3 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoFont problems in web design; can u help?
I designed a website using Copperplate Gothic for a font. It has to stay in that font because it has to do with a logo. When I upload it and visit the website through a browser, that font doesn't show up. Instead it's in Times New Roman! I can't get it to upload properly! I need a detailed solution to this problem!

It's unbelievable how many people can't spell worth a crap around here. The majority of the questions and answers posted here contain misspelled words. Where has the discipline gone? There's even a spell checker on Yahoo Answers. I won't even get into punctuation and grammar.
