  • Why Do We Pay More Taxes Jointly?

I'm using fresly-updated coppy of TurboTax to do my taxes. We're filing jointly. My wife made $60k last year and I made $75k. That puts me in a higher tax bracket than her.

When I prepair the taxes with my W2 only, I get $1500 back. When I prepair with hers only, we get around the same amount. When I put them both in, we OWE $5000. If I change the filing status to separate, it goes down to $3k but we still owe.

There are no special incomes or expenses. We only owned our home for 6 months last year, so we didn't pay enough interested or taxes to meet the minimum standard deduction.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

    Thanks, Yahoos!

  • Webcam girls thanking people when a bell rings?

When frequenting sites like Redtube, XHamster and Youporn.com, I see videos of girls putting on webcam shows. They type things on keyboards and often say "Thank you" when a jingle sounds from the computer.

What site are they using to let people watch?

  • What asian cultures always seem to yell when they speak and why?

I've noticed that some Asian populations (Korean, Japanese... I'm not sure.) always seem to yell. They don't know how speak in an "inside voice". Is this a cultural thing?

  • How do I unlock a file that was locked by AVG Antivirus?

A file on my computer was labeled as a threat by AVG Antivirus. I chose "ignore" but the file remains inaccessible. I cannot copy, move, delete, or execute the file. I have shut down AVG and even uninstalled it. I have removed the drive and connected it to a computer without antivirus software and the file remains locked. It must be something in the file system.

Are there any ways to unlock this file? Don't ask me what the file is, That's irrelevant. And, yes, I am certain that the file is not a threat.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Am I really getting 5.1 stereo from this setup?

I'll try to make this as simple as possible.

Equipment: Sony PS3, Phillips 52" 1080p HDTV, Yamaha Home Theater System.

Current audio setup: AV cable from PS3 to stereo input on the TV. It's a left and right (white and red) RCA connector. From the TV to the Yamaha theater system is a "Digital Audio Cable" (not fiber optic).

I don't think I'm getting 5.1 surround sound but I don't know how to set it up? What cable do I need? Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • What does post code 50 on an Abit AN8 motherboard mean?

I have an Abit AN8 motherboard-based system I've been running for 3 years now. I have had no hardware trouble at all. Recently, the power went off while it was raining.

Upon restarting my computer, it hangs at the abit splash screen. I can't even hit Tab or Esc to enter bios or look at the POST screen.

The motherboard LED display reads "50" when the machine hangs. Can anybody tell me what post code 50 means? Is there a list of post codes somewhere?

    Thanks!

  • Do you know this cranberry/citrus holiday punch recipe?

Last year I found a recipe online for a great holiday punch. It was very similar to something I had while growing up. I remember some of the ingredients but not the quantities and I can't find the recipe. Can you help?

I know it contained the following:

    Frozen Cranberry Juice Concentrate

    Pineapple Juice Concentrate

A few ounces of lemon juice.

    Ginger Ale (or sprite/7-up)

It did NOT contain these items:

Cherries, cloves, alcohol, almond extract, or any whole fruit.

    Any help would be appreciated!!

  • Will "monitoring" my credit make my beacon score go down?

I friend recently told me that if I sign up for a credit monitoring service and regularly check my credit reports, my beacon score will go down each time as though a potential creditor were running my report. Is this true? Or do potential creditors know that it is me that is looking at the credit? Basically, if I frequently check my credit through one of these services, will it make my credit worse? Thanks!

  • Anybody know a GOOD Hi-Fi Thunderstorm CD?

I've tried multiple bargain rack thunderstorm CDs and I've found that the bass in the thunder just isn't realistic. I have a Dolby 5.1 surround sound system with a subwoofer. I want something that doesn't sound cheap, canned, or high and tinny. I want to hear deep, rolling thunder that makes me feel like I'm there.

I don't want anything with music or birds in the background. Just thunder and rain.

    Thanks!

  • Why does there seem to be 120V current going through my cable TV connector?

I recently moved from an apartment to a home that was built circa 1940. When I attempt to connect my coax cable line to the back of my computer, which has a tv tuner card in it, I get an electric shock and bright blue sparks as though it were a full 120v AC. Is this a problem with incorrect grounding in my house?

  • What's this noise on my Digital 8 recording?

I used my lower-end Sony Digital 8 camcorder to record some video and I have an intermittent hissing on the sound track of the cassette. Recording over the same spot again produces the same noises.

Since this is a digital tape, is there a way I can "format" it and start from scratch? Or, is the cassette just worn out (after 2 uses) and should be thrown away?
