And why are most people so afraid to have a real discussion with someone?

Most Christians dont "Hate" homsexuals

Most Christians dont go around saying "Go to hell heathen"

Further, just because somone claims to be a Christian doesnt make them one, being a Christian involves actually following the teachings of Christ. I believe there is a different from being saved, and being a Christian.

I wonder how many people have actually known real Christians and how many people have just had encounters with radicals and insane people. And how much of these generalizations are from personal experience and how much is from tv and jokes.

Im wondering if anyone of a particular religion, any religion, has ever had a successful conversation with an atheist about religion. I have been a christian for over 10 years, and I have talked to many people who consider themselves atheist, I have never gotten a serious answer when I ask them why they are an atheist, or even why they believe what they do.

Ive met people who seemed nice enough, and I have gotten along well with, and if I bring up God, or ask them if they have a religion, they imediatley get defensive. And after I let them know that I was a christian they start mocking me and my faith.

I would really like to have a respectful, serious conversation with an atheist, what kind of experiences have you had? Or if you are an atheist, have you ever had a friendly conversation with somone of faith about religion? I dont mean to attack atheists, im sure there has been plenty of aggresive christians running their mouths about how much people deserve to go to hell.

So many people are confused when it comes to God and christians. Its almost impossible to correct a misconception when there are so many of them. There are SO many issues of debate, just take the bible itself, before you can even begin on the first word that is written in it, you have to decide who wrote the book, if you are to take it literally, if its been changed, if its true etc etc. There are so many issues. I believe being saved is as simple as believing that Im a sinner and that I need to repent and I believe that jesus died for my sinners so that I have can have a relationship with God. But after that, it gets so much more complex. Ive been a christian for over 10 years and I dont feel I know "enough" about it yet. So before you make a claim or judgement on all christians, God, or the bible, think about that fact that you can take anything out of context, and it is much harder to correct a misconception, than to advertise and exploit it.

My God is perfect

When I first saw Yahoo answers I thought it was pretty awesome. But really I think it does more harm then help to the younger crowd. After seeing questions like:

"How do a women give birth?"

and

"When is the write time to do sex?"

It makes me wonder if these kids should really be educated from a crowd like random internet junkies.
