  • Yahoo is not exporting my contacts to CSV. I keep getting "unknown error message".?

I've tried several times today to export work contacts to an excel file, but either it only partially downloads with all the data listed in row 2 and spaced widely apart, or it simply is not working at all and giving me an error message. Is this happening to anyone else?

  • Does my new modem/wifi router need to be secured?

Until yesterday, I had a Comcast modem and a separate wifi router from Netgear. My network is with the Netgear and it is secure. Yesterday, however, I replaced my modem with a Comcast gateway. It's supposed to be a combo modem/router. Do I need to secure the Comcast Gateway router/modem? Right now my desktop computer (only computer in the house) is on the Netgear. My desktop is wired directly into the Netgear Router, which is hooked up to the modem.

According to my computer, the Netgear is the network in use, but I want to be certain that I don't need to do something with the new Comcast modem. I don't see the Comcast router indicated on my desktop's network settings.

  • Why are there face+body wash products for men, but not for women?

Whenever I try to look up a body wash that combines the face and body, only products for men come up. Why? I hear all the time that body soap/wash is bad for your face, yet I see a products for men that combine those two items. I fail to see how a woman's facial skin is different from a man's facial skin, so the all-in-one for men should work for women. That, or men are ruining their faces if we are to believe all the beauty websites out there.

Anyone have any input on this? I'd rather combine all the soaps into one product, myself.

  • Why are blue Christmas ornaments difficult to photograph?

My roommate has been taking pictures of our Christmas tree with the colored metallic balls (gold, red, blue). For some strange reason, the blue ornaments will not show up. They are too dark. There is no reflection issue. How can the blue color of the ornaments be shown stronger in the photos?

  • Is it okay to use sink and tub paint inside the microwave?

The paint underneath the carousel of my GE microwave is chipping and flaking off. I have some paint (the epoxy kind that you combine) for sinks and tubs. Is it safe to use in a high heat environment such as a microwave?

  • Why does my CRT television have a line of static on the right edge?

I have a 7 to 8 year old Daewoo cathode ray tube television set (flat screen). Lately, I've been seeing a 2 to 3 inch vertical stripe of static on the right edge of the screen. Sometimes it is larger, sometimes smaller. Sometimes it looks more like a white haze. Most of the time, it looks like you can see a black and white "snow" screen peeking out from the edges of the television picture.

What is this? Is the TV going out?

  • What year is my Clark's Big Ball of size 20 Crochet Thread?

According to the label it was originally sold for 55 cents. It is a red and gold label, Clark's Big Ball size 20 thread, 450 years "Boilfast". Any ideas as to the year? I understand after 1949, Clark's became Coats and Clark's, so that's all I have to go on.

  • What is the most tasteful way to suggest someone buy a newer, better fitting bra?

This is in regards to someone who constantly adjusts her bra in public and in front of people. She clearly needs better fitting bras. What's a nice, tactful way to suggest she needs one?

  • How long can a pet store keep an animal?

I went to a pet store today that has had the same conure for sale for months. The workers have said that since its favorite employee has left, it isn't getting socialized as much. The workers seem to care for the bird, but its becoming aggressive and has not sold. They told me they keep animals until they sale. I'm worried the bird is going to become to neglected emotionally and not be suitable for selling. I don't have room or money to buy the bird. Do animal welfare groups ever step in to recover unsold animals? The birds all seem to have clean cages with enrichment, but I'm concerned this lonely conure is not getting enough socialization.

  • Is there such a thing as an agnostic terrorist?

Just curious. You hear Muslim terrorist, Christian terrorist, heck, I've even heard the term atheist terrorist lately. I consider myself agnostic, and I've yet to hear of any agnostic terrorists. If I were to commit an act of terrorism for political reasons (I wouldn't, this is purely hypothetical), would my agnosticism be brought up as a reason for my terrorism? What are your thoughts?

  • Can a work at home phone be put on the Do Not Call list?

One of my relatives started a work-at-home business. She wants to put it on the Do Not Call list, but the official site says that business lines are excluded. Yet, this is technically a home line and was purchased as such.

Can this phone number be put on the Official Do Not Call registry?

  • How long can a turtle brumate?

What is the maximum time period that a turtle can remain underground? One of my friends told me a story of a boy that found his turtle seemingly dead. He put it in a box and buried it about a foot deep. A year later, the family was digging the area for a garden, found the turtle in the box and found it was alive.

It sounds like an urban legend, yet turtles do brumate. The question is, what is the maximum record?

  • How do I prevent felting of crochet garments?

I accidently put a swatch of black worsted weight acrylic Red Heart Super Saver crocheted (single stitches) in the washer with stuffed animals. I had used the cold water, regular setting.

It came out soft, larger, and the individual stitches blended together. I presume this is the "felting" that I hear about.

However, according to the skein's instructions, this acrylic yarn is supposed to be washable. Also, everyone seems to say that only wool can felt.

So what happened to my swatch? I like the texture, but I wouldn't want it for all my crocheted pieces, such as my mothers ribbed stitch scarf.

How do I prevent this "felting" from happening to my acrylic crocheted garments?

  • Is it truly bad to warm a car in idle daily? What about the battery?

My mother rarely drives her car, probably twice a month. Because of that, she has me start it up for her daily for 2 to 3 minutes in regular weather, and up to 8 minutes in extreme cold. She was told it was necessary for the battery.

However, now everyone keeps saying that it's bad for the car. Who is right? The car is a Honda Civic 2004 in case you need to know.

  • Where do I find 4X6 matte or satin photo paper for HP j4680 printer?

Hewlett Packard appears to no longer manufacture matte photo paper smaller than 8.5 X11. This leaves me in a quandary because I despise glossy. However, the folks at Hewlett Packard advise against using another brand or generic photo paper.

What can I safely and reliably use, or where can I find HP matte photos smaller than 8.5 X11?

  • Why did this popcorn bag spark?

This popcorn was popped in our microwave according to instructions, and the bag was burnt through, though the popcorn was fine (that popped, some did not pop). The bag sparked and flamed a little from the inside out. What could have happened?

    I've submitted photos:

  • Why are ferrets and rabbits sometimes considered "exotic" pets?

Both have been domesticated for at least a few millenia, so I don't understand what makes them "exotic". Hedgehogs, monkeys, and even parrots have only been captive-bred for a few decades, so I can understand why they are termed as exotics, but it just does not make sense for bunnies and ferrets. Any theories?

  • Bizarre stalking question...?

I have an odd and frustrating situation. I moved across country a few years ago and did not give out my phone number or address to some relatives that I did not want contact with. I notified the post office even. Now, they have somehow found not only my address, but my home phone number, and even my work place number. So far they have not found my online info. How did they do this, and could this be used against them in a court of law? One of the relatives has a criminal record.

The bizarre situation is: they think I've been brainwashed by another relative and that I have moved because of this supposed coercion. This is of course, completely untrue. I have not joined a cult or anything like that, I just wanted to move, and these relatives are a pest. No matter, as soon as they obtained my address they have sent me letters urging me to reconsider my move and lack of contact with them. I initially ignored these unusual letters, not wanting to escalate a conflict or confirm my address, but this has made the situation worse. Now they are calling my workplace and writing my workplace.

They believe I am not receiving their phone calls or letters due to my mother. This is untrue. I have all their correspondence. I wrote them a formal letter asking them to cease communicating with me, and they do not believe I wrote the letter! They still believe that something has happened to me, and quite frankly its insulting (this idea that I'm brainwashed has gone on for years).

No one has threatened to hurt me thus far, rather they think I need rescuing! I'm somewhat afraid they might want to kidnap me, and save me from myself, but I'm a 30 something year old adult.

They asked me to send a certified note to guarantee that I am truly who I say I am (!), but I'm concerned that my signature might be used against me as fraud on the part of one relative (he's done this sort of thing before).

Would I be able to get a restraining order, or does my life have to be threatened? The fact that they have called my workplace is extremely upsetting to me, and I want to know how they did this. The relative that has been calling me has been convicted of stalking before (another unrelated woman).

Is it called stalking if the stalker seeks to "rescue" you. Frankly, I'm still not sure what they want exactly, if it is to move back or have an epiphany that moving was wrong or what. The relative convicted of stalking is being treated for rapid cycling bipolar disorder and is on medication--would this contribute to his delusion of me being in danger from my mother (who is not causing me any harm whatsoever--she's the only sane relative I seem to have these days).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why don't people keep Standard Dachshunds?

I have only seen at most 2 standard dachshunds in my life, and both were show-ring dogs. I've worked for over 7 years in the veterinary field in 2 states, and its seems like everyone keeps the miniature dachshunds now. Why do people prefer the smaller dogs to the large ones? They aren't *that* much smaller--its not like a 50 lb difference or anything.

It almost seems like the regular sized dachshund is nothing more than a relic of show ring, no regular pet owners seems to want them.

Has anyone seen standards kept as pets anymore?
