  • Who's your favorite photographer?

I'm taking a history in photography class at my college- its an engineering school, so most people's artistic sides aren't all quite there. For the class, we need to write an 8-10 page final paper, basically about any topic of our choosing. There are lots of topics I can think of, but none that I think I can get that many pages out of.

I figured I'd try here at Y!A to get some feedback about who your favorite photographers are. If I pick an artist who has a large body of work, it will be easier to go on & on about them. Any suggestions??

    Thanks a lot!!

  • what does his body language mean?

when my bf and i fall asleep its usually with him on his back and me curled up next to him with my head on his shoulder/chest. but we both toss and turn and sometimes he'll roll over and we'll spoon, but with him as the "little spoon". i was reading on a website that when people are spooning the "protector" is on the outside and that the less secure person is on the inside. does this mean he might be insecure? does this make me the dominant person in the relationship? or am i reading too far into it...

i just love to cuddle and so does he, i think thats what it boils down to. what's your opinion?

  • Dressing for a Career Fair...?

I have an opinion question. I have a classic black suit which I plan on wearing to my school's career fair tomorrow... (I am an engineering student in college). I usually wear the suit with a button-down shirt but I also have a few really nice turtlenecks I could wear under it. Do you think I should go for that instead? If so, what color? Would a black turtleneck be too much black or do you think it would look professional?

    Any opinions welcome! Thanks everyone!

  • Quitting smoking cold turkey?

    Hey everyone,

I have a question about the "quitting smoking timeline"....

    http://www.stqp.org/quitsmokingtimeline.asp there's a link if you don't know what i'm talking about.

I used to smoke about half a pack a day (8-12 cigs, more if I was drinking). This past Monday at 10 AM, I had my "last cigarette" and went cold turkey. Since then, I have slipped up four times (2 while drinking, 2 in a long car ride with other people who smoke-- both big triggers for me). 4 cigarettes in a week isn't so bad, when I used to smoke 4 packs a week.

Anyway, I was wondering, as far as the timeline goes- do those numbers apply to the last time I had a cigarette (yesterday at 6 PM) or when I stopped my heavy smoking habits (Monday at 10 AM)?

    Thanks!

  • Quitting cigarettes/ Bipolar?

    Hey,

Have any of you with bipolar disorder tried quitting cold turkey before? I was wondering how it affected you... they say based on your particular brain chemistry, you could wind up happier/sadder, more awake/more tired, etc...

I'm just figuring that maybe other people with bipolar might have similar experiences??

Just wanted some feedback. Its been a few hours since my last cigarette and so far, so good.

    Thanks!!

  • Is this a "legal" halloween costume?

    Hey everyone,

I know that its not legal to have certain uniforms if it isn't actually your job- For example, UPS browns (the uniforms that UPS drivers wear) because you can gain access to buildings and use the uniform as part of a plot.

Is Halloween an exception? I was thinking of wearing an old pair of browns i had from when i did management at UPS, but I don't want any problems to come from it. I feel like Halloween is an exception to this. Do any of you know for sure?

    Thanks!!

  • Dreaming about not being able to stop my car...?

    Hello,

I have recurring dreams about the brakes on my car not working... the most recent one was like this:

I was driving with my mom in the car and we were on the parkway. There was a truck across the road blocking both lanes, and I had the choice of whether to go right into the shoulder, straight into the truck, or left into wetlands. I veered off to the left & drove into a huge lake. In my dream I remember saying "should we open the doors??" (I remember asking in my dream how to survive driving into a lake). But the car kept going, it seemed like 100 mph, and even though I was pressing on the brake in my dream, it wouldn't slow down.

I've had it other times, sometimes with people in my car, sometimes its just me. Its always my car that I'm driving.

Any idea what this might mean?

  • The usage of "that" and "which"....?

Fill in the blanks, with "that" or "which"

"there are aspects ____ back up the assertion ____ marriage is not a failed institution"

I always have problems remembering when to use "that" and when to use "which"... I think one is for people and one is for things? Is that always the case? What would it be in this case?? Thanks!!!

  • Does being bipolar disqualify you as an egg donor?

I have a question.. during the egg donation process, they ask for medical history, etc. Since mental illnesses can be hereditary, do you think that someone with a mental condition (bipolar disorder) would be considered ineligible for donating an egg? Has anyone here had an experience where they were screened and either accepted or turned down?

    Thanks

  • Can you share your experience about donating eggs?

Hi, have any of you gone through the process of egg donation? I'm considering it and wanted to get some feedback from actual people first...

    Thanks!

I'm really only looking for fact-based answers, not your personal opinions about Obama himself. Serious answers only, and I greatly appreciate your time. :)

  • Please read if you have an lcd tv...?

If you have it hooked into the wall with just a coaxial cable, what type of adapter do you need to get the rest of the channels in your cable package?

(I'm currently only getting channels 2-13 and I should have about 60-70).

  • Please help me with my new lcd tv... (short problem)?

Hi, I'm asking this because after reading the manual and attempting to call tech support, i'm still a bit confused.

I have a Westinghouse lcd tv that (currently) is hooked up with a coaxial cable straight from the wall to the tv. We're only getting channels 2 - 13, and in the manual it says something along the lines of: "if you're using a coax, you need an adapter".

    So, 2 questions:

    1. Since they said "if", does that mean there's another type of connection I can use? Problem is, in this room it looks like the only connection is for the coax.

    2. What kind of adapter would I need? They don't specify...

All we want is to be able to get all the channels we know are available (and yes, we do have more than 13 channels normally, without this tv.)

    Thank you so much!

  • When your best friend wants to be more than friends..?

Here's the situation, and i'll try to keep it short, so feel free to ask anything else and i'll add it in details.

I'm a 23 yr old female, and one of my closest friends is a 25 yr old male. We've known each other since I was a freshman in high school- we continued to be close although we didn't see each other as often when i moved away to college in 2004.

i took a leave of absence last november and have lived in my hometown, which is where he's from, since then. we've seen each other almost every day since i've been back and on days we don't see each other, we do talk on the phone. i go back to school in a week.

last night he told me the entire time he no longer wants to talk to me because it hurts him too much. he said for the first few years we knew each other, because one of us was always in a relationship, he knew nothing could happen. but since i've been home, he's been single, and i've been in no serious relationships.

it caused a lot of feelings in me- mostly guilt, because i feel bad that he's so upset over the situation, even though i didn't do anything to lead him on. i'm also upset over the thought of having to lose one of my closest friends. additionally, i'm angry if our whole friendship has been forged in him trying to be in a relationship with me, and that his gestures were "fake" or with hidden intentions.

What i'm asking is this- have any of you been on either side of this problem (being liked or liking your best friend)? Do you think its possible to still be friends, or will it always perpetuate hurt? What can I say to him to make him feel better?

Thanks everybody! post a question if you want me to answer it back, i'll give you my time of day if you give me yours :)
