  • How concerned should I be with a tire's temperature rating?

I'm referring to the UTQG rating given to the tire that shows how well it does at dissipating heat when rolling. An A graded tire is good for speeds over 115 mph, while a B graded tire is good for speeds over 100 but below 115.

Obviously the A graded tire is theoretically better, but since I won't be driving over 100 anyway, does it really matter if I get an A or B graded tire?

  • On REM's CD Green, the song Stand has the letter R next to it instead of a 4. Why?

It's the 4th song on the CD. The others are numbered 1,2,3, etc, but instead of the number 4, Stand has an R next to it.

  • Does anyone remember the name of the Martian in an old PSA to get kids to eat fruit?

I'm not sure if it was on nationally, it may have only been on in the Boston area. I've been trying unsuccessfully to find it on Youtube. I might have better luck if I knew his name.

    It went something like this:

"Hello, my name is _______. I'm from Mars and I eat nothing but candy bars."

He opens the nosecone of a tiny space capsule, revealing fruit inside.

    "What's this, some earth fruit?"

    He eats some fruit.

"Mmmm, it's good. It's better than good, it's yummy and not bad. Wait until I tell the other Martians about this. By only eating candy bars, we don't know what we miss."

  • Congratulations to the Giants and their fans?

I posted this last night but there was so much activity it was on the 3rd or 4th page in a few minutes. Anyway, the Giants played a great game, and deserve to be champions. As a Patriot fan this game was very disappointing, but that the way it goes. Oh well, only 7 months until next season!

  • Ohio residents--Is this guy a real weatherman?

I have a theory that the regular weatherman couldn't go on the air and they had to find a replacement at the last minute. Maybe they got someone from the station's accounting department or maybe even the picked the first guy they found walking down the street who was wearing a suit.

  • Question for those who have attended a sitcom taping or have worked on a sitcom?

This may be a little hard to explain, but here goes. Sometimes when I watch a show something funny happens, but it isn't funny until something is revealed to the home viewer, but for some reason the studio audience doesn't laugh until the revelation is made either. Why is that?

For example, (this is just a general example, not anything from a specific show) let's say a guy is talking to someone who is at his side, but off screen and so can't be seen by people watching at home. What the person is saying to this unseen individual might not be funny, until the next shot reveals to the home viewer that he's talking to a chimpanzee wearing a funny hat, and then the studio audience bursts into laughter.

Why is it that the studio audience doesn't laugh until the chimp is shown to the at home viewer? Can't they see him the whole time, or is he somehow hidden from view and then revealed to the studio audience as well?

  • Wouldn't it be funny if the Dolphins beat the Patriots?

Just kidding, I know that question has been asked a million times. My real question is, why do some players have a green dot on their helmet?

Refrigerators used to have recesses along the top of the door to hold eggs, but they don't anymore. Why not?

  • Does anyone remember these cookies?

They came in bags, not boxes. Each bag had a different cartoon monster on the front. The cookies themselves were made to look like a bite had been taken out of them. The joke was that the monster at the cookie factory was eating all the cookies.

I know it didn't have anything to do with Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.

They were around in the early 80s. Does anyone remember what they were called?

  • Red Sox fans, do you agree with me?

After game 4 there were countless questions on here that had the same theme--the Red Sox were done, Red Sox fans su*k, the Indians were already in the World Series, etc. Some of us stayed true to our team and were ridiculed for it.

Now that the comeback is complete, it would be easy to strike back, but I don't think we should. There will always be people who hate us for being Red Sox fans, and they'll never change. Let's just rise above it and show some class.

To the respectable Indian fans who have been on here during this series, you guys have nothing to be ashamed of. The Indians are a great team and I expect to see them in the thick of the pennant race next year.

  • Why do they rarely talk about the price of cars in tv shows?

Many times I've watched a show and someone is buying a car, but the price of the car is not mentioned. The customer will ask the price of the car, but instead of simply stating the price, the salesman will write it down on a piece of paper and show it to the customer. Then the customer will write down a counter offer on another piece of paper. Does anyone know why tv shows do this instead of simply having the characters verbally state the price?

  • Massachusetts residents: What's with the optional, higher tax rate?

The standard income tax rate for Massachusetts is 5.3%. On the tax forms the last few years, there has been a box to check if you want to pay the optional, higher tax rate of 5.85%.

Does anyone know why this is on the forms? It seems crazy to me. It would be like buying something at Wal-Mart that cost $53 and the cashier asks if you'd like to pay $58.50 instead. Is there anyone out there who paid the 5.85% tax?

  • How is the "Top Baseball Answerer" determined?

Sometimes when I log on Craig S. is listed as the top baseball answerer, and sometimes it is Georgie Porgie.

Craig S. has about 15,000 points and 674 best answers, and Georgie Porgie has close to 41,000 points and 512 best answers. It's not like those numbers are close enough for them to be changing the lead back and forth. So why is one the top answerer some times and the other is the top answerer other times?

  • Toss from dugout to first baseman?

I've noticed something that happens a lot if the first baseman make the last out of an inning. While he jogs off the field, he'll roll the ball into the dugout. At the same time, someone in the dugout will toss him another ball. I've seen it happen several times for different teams. Why?
