  • What would be the most important thing to learn on guitar when you're just a beginner ?

Been taking lessons about a year and a half. Is it better to concentrate on one thing until you play it well,

or is it better to practice a variety of things? If I play nothing but a certain scale all week, I'll get real good at it. When I practice a variety of scales, I don't get results as quick. Any suggestions ?

I should mention that I'm middle aged and don't learn the same way or as fast as a younger person would. Don't have as much time to devote to it either.

  • hammock rocker mechanism?

does anyone know of a non-electric diy rocking mechanism that can be driven by a weight or a spring. it can be a crude version as i am using this for my outdoor hammock. can't seem to find anything on the internet, but i may be asking incorrectly.

  • rocking mechanism for hammock?

I'm looking for a diy mechanism to gently rock my hammock. It would be along the lines of a crank up baby swing or a clock pendulum driven by a weight. It's an odd request, but I'm sure someone out there has come up with a contraption that will do this.

  • wheelhorse belt problem?

i have a 77 wheelhorse lawn tractor and am replacing the drive belt. if i put on the correct 85 in belt it drags and grinds gears when putting into gear. i bought an 86 in belt and it doesn't drag, but the forward motion is kinda soft although it goes into gear wonderfully. my question is, if i put on the correct belt will it eventually stretch and release the belt correctly ? the belts now are made of kevlar and resist stretching so i'm not sure it will correct itself. don't want to damage my tranny. is there something i can spray on the belt to make it slip the way it should. the 86 in belt works fine, but it's not the correct size. anyone else ever had this problem ? thanks

  • painting bare exterior wooden door?

i have an exterior front door that has been sanded to bare wood in most places. it gets sun all day. what type of primer should i use. oil or latex. i have always used oil primer because it takes longer to dry and i believe it penetrates deeper into the wood because of this. some of the new latex primers work great and bond very well, but sort of lay on the surface. which would be better in your opinion ? need pros answers.

  • premium fuel in generator?

I have a new generator that recommends premium fuel. How important is this ? Does regular fuel damage or shorten the life of the motor or will it just make it noisy ? All my other machines run on regular and always have.

  • Cheapest filling for an underground oil tank?

i have a 500 gal underground oil tank that hasn't been used in 6 yrs. i don't want to remove it as it will be expensive and tear up the yard and the driveway. there are no laws in my area preventing me from filling it with a solid substance. just wondering what would be the least expensive material to fill it with.

  • wireless router & tv problem?

could a wireless router affect a tv remotes signal. the reason i'm asking is that my tv comes on and goes off by itself. this is the second tv to do this in less than a year. my wireless router is in a different room, but still is within 10 ft of the tv. all other tvs in the house are fine. i've checked all other possible causes for this problem. i'm baffled. has anyone else had this problem and if you did, what was the solution ? was it the router ?
