  • Demon from 2006 "The Omen"?

In the 2006 version of the movie "The Omen" (I've not seen the original, but it might be in that one too), after Damien's nature starts to manifest, there's a brief scene where his mother sees a demon dressed in a red hooded robe wearing what looks like a cow's skull as a mask that appears in a mirror.

I've seen other visual references to this demon in various media so I assume it's been established in some mythology or dogma, but I've never been able to identify an origin. I'm curious if anyone knows who/what this is supposed to be?

  • How do I fix my connection?

This might be a little involved, so stay with me here...

So I just got a new Linksys e1000 Wi-Fi router because my old one was a good five years old and kept losing connection. The new Wi-Fi is amazing and all my wireless devices connect like a charm! Problem is, I have an old desktop that won't connect when I hard-wire it. When I check on the status, it says "acquiring network address" and won't progress past that. I played around with the network settings and was able to get it to at least say that it couldn't clear something called the "NetBT", but it still wouldn't connect and now I can't seem to reproduce that; it's stuck back on acquiring the address. I spent two hours on Live Chat with Linksys troubleshooting the issue to no avail. I finally gave up and just decided to rout the desktop directly to the only port in the modem when I need to use that computer and would just live without Wi-Fi when I do this; however, I still get the "acquiring network address" message and no connection even when I do this!

Whatever my problem is, I don't think it's the router, even though I could hard-wire into the old router with no problem. Can anyone give me any suggestions that might help?

  • How do you get goat's blood out of a white linen table cloth?

So, um... Crazy party last night. Not gonna go into details, but let's just say the devil made me do it. Well... the devil and about three quarters of a bottle of whiskey.

So anywho. How do I get the stain out? Any suggestions?

  • How do you get habanero oil off sensitive skin?

I was crushing some dried habaneros and, as anyone who has ever handled the little buggers can attest, the pepper's oil just won't leave my hands. I've washed thoroughly before sitting down to do other things. I inevitably rested my face on my hands and now my cheek is burning! And worse yet, I'm a little afraid to use the bathroom now! What do I do?!

  • Do I need a better Wi-Fi router?

I've got a Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DSi, and an Xbox 360 that I want to get online with. I tried this a while ago and could only get the DS to connect and even that stopped working a while ago. I get an error message that I can't obtain an IP address. I just barely changed providers to a much faster service, but I'm still getting the same error message. From what I remember the first time I tried this, it sounded like the problem was some combination slow connection and a poor quality Wi-Fi router. I'm currently using a D-Link brand router that came with my laptop (which connects just fine), but I'm not sure the model number.

Can anyone suggest a better router or anything else that might help me connect my game consoles?

  • What is the process to get "fang" dental mods?

I was struck with morbid curiosity on the subject. I know it's possible to get cosmetic modifications done to make the canine teeth look more like fangs and I was wondering how this is accomplished... Not that I'm actually considering doing this, just curious.

Here's a link to a few YouTube videos that illustrate what I have in mind:

  • X-Box Live Setup?

So, I recently bought a wireless adapter so I could finally connect to X-Box Live (previously, I was unable to get setup because the cord included with the console doesn't reach three rooms down to the modem).

Now I've got it plugged in, I've established a connection with my router, and I've been assigned an IP address; however, when I run the test to see if I can connect, the IP confirmation fails.

So I called Tech Support. My phone company directed me to X-Box Live Tech Support, who eventually told me to contact my phone company. They said it was something wrong with my modem and to get it replaced.

Now, granted I don't know that much about how X-Box Live works, but I work call centers myself and I know the support provided is incredibly basic (stuff I coulda done on my own). I'm almost possitive my modem isn't the problem since it provides connection for three other devices without fail.

Could anyone help me out here?

  • How much does your phone cost?

Out of curiosity, in this day and age of discounted, usually free phone purchases, I was wondering how many of you were familiar with the actual monitary value of your cellular phones.

I want to know the make and model of your phones and how much you think it's retail value would be if service contracts never applied.

  • What Move Should I Teach It?

I'm breeding a new Luxray and I'm unsure on one of my move slots. The final product is going to look solething like this:

    -Spark

    -Discharge

    -Ice Fang

    -Charge/Crunch/???

I'm not sure what I want that last move to be. Should I go with Charge, Crunch, or something else all-together? I guess it's worth noting that I don't have a lot of Dark-type moves among the rest of my team. Any suggestions?

  • How Do I Run This On Windows Vista?

I've got this old copy of the game Dungeon Keeper 2 that always crashed on the computer I first bought it for and I heard that it will run properly on Windows Vista. I recently got a brand new laptop with Vista, but when I installed my game I couldn't see nything except the HUD.

I heard that to play the game right you need to turn on "w2k compatibility" but I have no idea where to find that or how to turn it on.

    Any help?

  • Crystaline Deposites in my Wine?

I was sharing a bottle of wine with my dad to celebrate a change in living arangements and when I took the last swing from the dregs of the bottle I spit out these dark maroon chunks of sedament. They had formed a crystal, but they were really soft.

The wine was a 2003 Bargetto Syrah if that helps. What were those crystals?

  • Can I Get A Job in Game Developement Without Programming Skills?

Here's my plight. I have a lot of great ideas for video games. I've developed storylines, control schemes, gameplay ideas, etc. that I want to see turned into video games. But I have no innate affinity with computers. Obviousely I'm literate or I wouldn't bere here, but my skills don't range much further than that.

If I'm ever going to have my visions realized I need a possition where I'm responsible for overseeing the production of a game or else find a college course that can solve my programming aversions.

So my question to you is what do I have to do in order to land a job like that? What kind of schooling do I need? Can I get away with (relatively) minimal computer skills?

  • What Name Should I Use?

I've got a series of stories I'm trying to write but I'm terrible at coming up with names. I need a name for a secret society that monitors occult activity (it's role is somewhat similar to the Talamasca from Anne Rice's books). This group acts as the right-hand counterpart to a Demonolatry cult I've already named The Strigoi (after a word for a kind of Romanian vampire). Their purpose is basicly to keep supernatural activity in check by means of superstitions and other Ven Helsing-esque tactics, though these superstitions aren't necessarily accurate or effective.

I prefer to base names like this from real folklorist references and I've narrowed my choices down to the following three names:

    1. Benandanti

    2. Kresnik

    3. Stregoni Benefici

Due to size limits, I'm going to list information on each name in following additions. Please note that these names are only meant as a symbolic reference and are not literal descriptions of the nameless group.

  • Why Is It That All The Lame, Thoughtless, Redundant Questions Get More Answers?

To put this in context, I spend most of my time while on Yahoo Answers in the Religion & Spirituality section. I end up seeing some of the stupidest qustions asked repeatedly by many people (and occasionally by the same person) and they always rack up 40+ answers while the questions that are truly thought provoking peak at an average of 10 answers.

Why are people attracted to mediocrity so?

  • Proposed Psychological Experiment?

I thought up a somewhat simple correlation study I'd like to see done some day.

In a book I once read it stated that people need fantaxcy in their lives and that's the reason people are inclined to join religion. The book takes the possition that religious dogma is simply fiction.

So my experiment is to assemble an anonymouse survey asking questions that would assess the amount of fictional media (such as video games, movies, TV programs, and books with a fantastical theme) each person being surveyed experiences. These surveys would be taken by an equal amount of Atheists and Theists (chosen randomly, of course; Theists being the control group and Atheists the test group) and the data compiled.

Were that book of mine to be true, it would show that Atheists do in fact experience more fantasy-themed media than Theists.

My question: what do you think the results would show?

  • Trivia: Which of the Infernal Names is Wrongly Attributed to Satanism?

In Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible, he lists 72 names which he associates with the Devil. However, he references one name from an Eastern European culture which was actually granted gratefully by the local Christian community. What was that name?

  • Creepy Hampsters and Suze Orman?

What's with that hampster thingy holding up the sign that tells me to check out how Suze Orman got a best answer? It's been there forever. Ok, I get it. You're smart. Cheers for you, but you don't deserve THIS much celebrity. Yahoo Answers needs to change that now.
