  • What is a DUI first offenders program, and how can I determine if my state offers this?

I live in Hawaii, and a close friend was convicted for DUI. I read online that some states have a program where after a certain period of good behavior a person's record can be cleared, and I would like to pass this information on if possible.

  • Gift ideas for a sewing enthusiast?

My sister has started sewing and LOVES it (is even selling her work) and I would like to get her some fabric for her birthday because I know she would like that! She does a lot of purses and uses mostly Michael Miller fabrics with pinks in them... I want to get something different but that will fit in!

  • My female cat has been diagnosed with hemophilia. We are thinking of not having her spayed because of this?

We adopted her and were planning to have her spayed, as the vet told us this was best for her since we are not planning to breed her. They did a pre-surgury exam and tested a blood sample and found out that her blood doesn't clot properly (which is extremely rare in female cats!). This means if she has surgery or is in an accident (such as being hit by a car) her blood will not clot and she could bleed to death. They said they can do a blood transfusion before surgery and that she should be okay.

However, my thought is that this is an optional surgery, and with her blood having clotting problems I would rather her not even be put in a situation where she is at risk.

She lives in our 4th floor apartment and does not go outside so an unplanned pregnancy is not an issue.

There is a slight financial spin to this issue, as it will now cost us upward of $300 for the transfusion to have her spayed, in addition to spaying costs (even with the humane society "coupon" it's still almost $200). I love this cat very much, but I can't afford to spend that much on MYSELF! Pet insurance now will not cover this condition so we're kind of stuck.

If she is not spayed, will she still live a happy life? I know she can yowl and be troublesome in that way, but the inconvenience isn't enough for me to want to put her at risk like this.

  • How can I determine if these kittens are ready to leave it's mother?

A friend of mine has a stray cat that she feeds, which had a litter of 4 kittens in her open air garage. All 4 of the kittens are running around, jumping and playing, they eat dry food and drink water, but will occasionally nurse from mom.

The kittens play with each other by chasing, pouncing and wrestling, and they also play with little toys in the garage. They leave their "den" to relieve themselves also. Their eyes are blue but they are starting to change. From what I can see the have all their teeth.

The kittens have been getting braver and leaving the garage to play, and while if they were indoor cats I would leave them with their mom until about 12 weeks, as they are outdoors I am afraid the neighbors dog will get them or they will run off.

They are very comfortable with me and will play with me and bat at me.

Any cat experts, do these kitties sound like they might be okay to go to new homes?

  • Trying to find a Christian Song title?

I can't remember all the lyrics for the life of me, but I know it's a very upbeat and fun song. Some of the words are "You are God in Heaven" and "All the world will know your name."

I realize that isn't a lot to go on, but it's going to bug me now! Any ideas?

  • I've heard you shouldn't wash your hair every day...but mine feels gross when I don't!?

I have very fine, thin hair and I live in a hot, humid climate. I have always washed it every day because when I don't it gets greasy and looks bad.

The last time I went to get my hair cut, the lady there said it was very damaged and that I need to baby it until the damaged part grows out and is eventually trimmed off.

I do not blow dry or straighten or curl, but the sun and air conditioner seem to me messing with my hair.

If I was my hair every day with a gentle shampoo, is this going to be detrimental? I'm trying the every other day routine now and it's so icky.

  • Need help filing taxes! My husband is from the UK and we are filing for change of status. Does he need an ITIN?

He is not able to earn any money or work (due to immigration procedure), but he was married in 2008. We do not have an ITIN number for him and as he is not a resident (proceedings are still underway) he also is not able to get a social security card.

Should I file my taxes just for myself and not file anything for him, as he did not earn money or depend on government funding for anything? Or will that cause problems?

  • What action should I take for a bad-mouthed boss?

My boss has a short temper and a dirty mouth. I have noticed it before but it was never directed at me, so I never made a big deal out of it.

Yesterday I got a call from him in which I was yelled at and swore at due to a situation I had no control over.

I've put up with a great deal from these people, but I definately don't think it's right for them to swear/yell at me.

Someone suggested filing a grievance, what is a good option for me? I don't care if they fire me at this point; no job is worth getting abused.

  • My Ford Taurus started smoking when I was driving to work this morning.?

I just replaced the radiator about a month ago, and it has been driving fine. Just this morning I noticed that when I was stopped in traffic there was some smoke coming out of the engine area. It was sweet and smelled like antifreeze. When I turned the air conditioner off the smoke stopped but I could still smell that antifreeze smell.

The temperature seemed to be perfectly fine and when it was checked last there were no problems.

What is going on and is it safe for me to drive it the 15 miles to get home before getting it looked at? I don't want to mess up the engine by driving it when it needs to be looked at!

  • I have dark patches on my cheeks, due either to sun or a new skin regime?

I spent 6 months in England (with very little sun) and recently returned home to Hawaii (a great deal more sun!).

I started using Mary Kay classic skin care system as soon as I came home, and I also got a lot of sun right away.

I always use plenty of sunscreen so I never burned, I just got more brown.

My cheeks now have weird patches of darker skin that is similar to the pregnancy mask women get (but I am not pregnant) so I am wondering if this is hormonal.

Any ideas? I am 25 and caucasian, is this just a normal age related thing?

  • What kind of wedding flowers are you going for?

My sister had bouquets called "kissing balls" that were pretty cool, but I want to do something a little different. I want to go for simple and elegant, and all I can think of are calla lilies.

Any ideas? What are you going to have at your wedding?

  • Drinking milk makes me feel sick, but cheese is okay?

This is really strange and I don't understand it. When I drink milk, I feel really sick. Like nauseus and my stomach gets upset. It's not psychological because I used to LOVE milk. So I switched to soy milk, and thats no problem.

But somehow when I eat cheese I don't get sick, and I've even had yoghurt that didn't make me feel bad at all. I had assumed I was lactose intolerant, but this confuses me.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or know what is going on with this?

  • I bought the Miss Dior Cherie perfume when I was abroad for a really low price.....?

And now I am having a hard time finding the same product for less that $40... I paid MUCH less for it before I knew how much I liked it, and now I just can't bring myself to pay 10X the amount I got it for originally. Now, I know you get what you pay for.... I'm just wondering if there are any genuine bargains to find out there!

    Can anyone help?
