  • What is your favorite Harry Potter theme?

Mine is the idea that you always have a choice; you may have to choose between making a wrong choice and death, but you Always have the option to do the right thing (Harry, Lily, Snape, and so many other characters demonstrated this.)

  • Anyone else afraid they'll be in the "wrong" house on Pottermore?

I've always considered myself to be a Gryffindor, but I have a feeling I'm going to end up a Hufflepuff :(

  • Help with ideas for Who hair in "Seussical"?

I'm playing Mrs. Mayor, and we're having trouble coming up with ideas for how to fix my hair, because we need it to look mature, but still silly and cute, and I'm wearing a big hat (somewhat like this http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=ht... ).

We tried doing my hair in a big side bun under the flowers on the hat, but it looked childish, and that won't work since my daughter in the show is my age. Any ideas? Thank you! :)

  • Poll: Smokers: Do you think people fake breathing trouble around you to make you feel bad for smoking?

    Just curious :)

(I'm asthmatic and I've always felt really self-conscious when peoples' smoke gives me asthma and I have to take meds because they look at me like I'm faking breathing problems to make them feel guilty for smoking...

On the other hand, I have watched people start coughing fakely [especially when they have children around] to make smokers feel bad for polluting the air.)

  • What is the approximate volume of a 120-pound, 5'4" person?

Any guesses would be welcome :) We cannot put her in a tank and see how much water splashes out, though

  • Will spirit gum remover definitely take off spirit gum from a bald cap?

A group of friends and I want to wear bald caps to look like a teacher of ours as sort of a prank, but we do not want to end up in the emergency room with bald caps stuck to our heads :) How safe are we to assume that the spirit gum remover that comes with the spirit gum will take off the adhesive?

  • What is a study done on baby orphans who weren't held by caregivers and died?

One of my Elementary school teachers told us about a study "back when there weren't laws against it" where they studied children from an orphanage. They didn't hold or touch them but cared for the babies in every other way, but all of them died. I don't remember where in the world she said this took place.

Now I'm in a Sociology class and my Prof doesn't believe that that happened, but I can't find anything on the study. Was my Elementary school teacher making this up? :) Do you know what I'm talking about or where I can find out about it?

    Thanks! :)

  • What is the pH of Calcium Carbonate?

When we tested it, the paper said that it was 7.4, but the chart we have (which has been wrong on other things) says that it is 6.

    Thank you! :)

  • What are some creative questions to ask someone I don't know well?

I've been talking a little with someone from my high school who is painfully shy. We go to a small school and I hadn't heard him say a word except to his best friend and to teachers for the first few years I knew him.

I like to play a game with myself and ask him a different question to get to know him better every time I think to. One of my favorites was "If an anarchist group came to you and threatened to kill you if you did not break the law a different way every day for a week, how would you break the law each day?"

Any ideas are appreciated but please be polite-- I'm a little girl!!

    Thank you!

  • How do you thread an old-style sewing machine's bobbin?

I just bought a sewing machine that seems to work fine at a yard sale, but then I ran out of bobbin thread. I put thread on the bobbin again, but it's an old machine, so the bobbin goes in this little metal case thing. How do I thread with the little bobbin case?

  • What are some good interview questions for a musical cast?

I'm planning to do interviews for the cast of a community musical (The Sounds of Music).

I really want to steer clear of chocolate-and-vanilla questions like "What was your favorite part?"

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    So far I have

"What do you and your character have in common?" and

"If you could try any other role, which would it be?"

So I really would appreciate any ideas :)

    Thank you!!

  • Is it normal for me to get a severe sinus headache when I play trumpet?

I get sinus headaches often in the summertime, but they get really bad when I play high notes on my trumpet or when I do push ups or stretch so that my head is below the rest of my body. Is this normal and why does this happen?

    1. Big bands in general

    a. Big band singers in general

and I need to talk about different big band singers here.

  • (Re)Naming a character?

(My friend wrote a play a while back that we're going to try and tape and make into a movie this summer. An issue we're having is that two characters are named Ryan and Brian, whick would be too hard to distinguish between when they're spoken. We're going to keep Ryan's name and change Brian's name.)

His surname is Lee, which we want to keep. We like names that have hard vowel sounds, and our favorites are

    Andrew or Drew

    Daniel

    David

    Victor

    Ben

    Benjamin

    Marcus and

    Mark

I've been liking D names the most so far, I think.

We're having a lot of trouble parting with "Brian" since that's what we've called him and thought of him as for over two years, so if anyone has any names that sound like Brian and do not rhyme with Ryan it'd be amazing.

What are your favorite of my current list?

Does anyone have any hard-vowel boy's names?

  • How can I keep secrets without lying?

I love to leave little notes and small gifts for my friends at school as a suprise, but I don't enjoy it as much if they find out who it was. I don't like getting credit for being nice to them, I just like to see them cheer up. Whenever I leave notes or somethng like paper flowers or something for them, they always ask if it was me, and I can't bring myself to lie to them (I never have been able to), so I always tell them.

How can I do things for them anonymously and not lie about who did it?

  • Sticker stuck to clothes that have been washed... Help?

How do you get stickers off clothes once they've been washed?

I accidentally left my race number sticker on my track uniform when I washed it. Now I can't peel it off.

I have a meet on Friday and need my uniform not to have sticker on it any more or my coach might kill me. *cringe* Any tips would be appreciated.

    Thanks!!
