  • My 2007 Yamaha V Star 1300t suddenly started back firing and black smoke coming out of the exhaust while on a ride.?

On October 8th, I went on a ride with some guys from church. I filled up before I left town to meet up with them. I went 20 miles to the "meeting place". We rode for about 20 miles when we stopped for gas for one of the guys. Then went another 30ish miles and meet up with a guy from Rochester. The 4 of us went North for about 30-40 more miles to Oswego. We toured around for a little bit and stopped at a few local favs then headed home, about 70 miles away.

The guy from Rochester left us in Oswego. I was going to ride with the guys from church until I got to I-81 then peel off. My bike was running a bit odd most of the day, when we came to a light and when I pulled the clutch in, it stalled. If I stayed on the gas, it would stay running but popping and back firing. I thought I had gotten some bad gas that morning. Normally I get about 45 MPG. The gas light came on with 17 miles to go to get home. 14 miles later, I ran out of gas. I called my friend to bring a gas can. I was able to get it home with him following me. I've done that exact trip many times before and always had roughly a gallon left in my 4 gallon tank.

I changed the spark plugs and the really dirty air filter. It was still running poorly in the garage. I assumed that the computer needed to be reset with the new air filter. I took it for a 13 mile ride around my house with no improvements. I was looking in the Clymer manual how to fix it but not sure where to start. Any ideas with this fuel injected bike?

  • motorcycle parts please help?

Is there a web page for used motorcycle parts or to find aftermarket parts for older bikes? I know there places that have aftermarket parts for cars and trucks. I have an 1985 gs450a that I need the left side cover without cracks or missing pins. And my gas tank is leaking and can't be welded so I need to get a new tank on it. Please point me in the right direction

  • Well I did it now, I really messed up my 85 gs450a bike.?

I bought this bike a few weeks ago. The guy I bought it from threw in the saddle bags for free when I pick it up. The bags were resting on my shocks and springs getting all beat up and worn out. I bought bag supports and mounted them on the bolt for the shock tower. I got the left side on no problem, the right side was almost done then I snapped the bolt. I tried to take the left side nut off to match up a bolt from the hardware store and that one snapped too. I ground off the weld on the stud but the remains wont come out even pounding on it with a 2 lb. hammer. Being so hot I want to ride it to work. Is there any stories out there that can help me replace those bolts?

  • I need some motorcycle help?

I have a 1985 Suzuki gs450a that starts, idles, but when I give some gas it stalls. It all started when I had the tank Creme Coated lasted Wednesday, Thursday I got the tank back and mounted. I have Fridays off from work and went for a ride. After stopping at the gas station and under estimating the price per gallon and size of the tank, I over filled it. I put 50 miles on my bike last week to get the fuel level down. I went to take it to work on Sunday night and that's when the problem started. I took the carbs off, cleaned them, and remounted. It fired right up with some throttle. I wanted to go riding today and its back to stalling out with the throttle on. What do I do to fix it?

  • I bought a 1985 suzuki gs450a and it keeps stalling when I let off the throttle, any ideas?

I put it on the road yesterday and went for a ride around my block today after I put a new battery in. I had it wide open and it was struggling to get over 25mph. The guy I bought it from owned it for 3 years and only put 500 miles on it, it mostly sat in his garage. This is my first "working" bike and any legit help will be greatly appreciated. Please no jokes or fake advice.

  • On a '99 Ford Taurus Wagon SE, where is the remote entry receiver located?

This is my wife's car, I am not a big ford fan. My Chevy truck is easier to work on. I have looked in the Haynes book and it tells me to change the batteries in the transmitter. I tried it at my local Advanced Auto Parts and their tester said the batteries are good. The manager told me to check the receiver. Any ideas as to where to find it or check it out?

  • How do I add XP when vista is already installed on my Gateway MT6730?

I have some older software that doesn't work with or is unreadable with vista. Is there any way to get like a duel OS or something that is on part-time and will work with my older software? I want to keep vista as my main OS, but want to run my games and stuff. Yes, I don't like vista as I haven't capitalized it, but I have gotten used to how it looks and I know where to look for things. Seriouse answers please.

  • How warm are motorcycle chaps?

I work second shift in New York and will have no choice but to ride at night to get home. It will be hot on my way in so I don't want to many layers. I can wear shorts while driving the tractor trailer. I am looking for something that can go over shorts and keep me warm at night and be taken off easily. Any ideas out there?

  • My wife says that ripped jeans are back in style.?

My daughter has some that I won't let her wear them to school. Is this throwback to the '80's coming back? I don't want to be the "uncool" dad.

  • I am looking for a foam block to keep my microphones safe.?

It needs to be at least 6" thick to cut an ice cream cone shape in it. I am thinking like 18" X 18" so I can stack all my mics in one tote. I am a sound guy (the same as a DJ, but live music) and have quite a few mics. I am near Syracuse, NY any places where I can find something like that? I can do the cutting and fitting, I am looking for just the foam.

  • How do I change both headlights on a 1996 Chevy Silverado?

I have the composite beams and bought Silver star lights. I can't get my hand in the small space to unclip the lights. I tried to take the four little screws out and tried to pull the grill down out of the way but the beams are mounted to the truck not the plastic grill. On the passenger side I have the battery and the horn in the way. On the drivers side I have a storage box that I don't see any screws or anyway to get that out of my way.
