Whenever I have my Xbox on and I switch inputs from my cable TV to my Xbox while it's on, the console restarts itself. Both use HDMI.

  • Security System with different recording times?

I'm looking for a security system where I can have different recording periods on each camera.

I was thinking to have around 8 cameras for my business where some would be on only during business hours and others to be on all the time. I also want the data on certain cameras to be held for X months before deleting footage.

The way I see it is that I would have to have multiple DVRs to do this.

I was just wondering if there was already a system in place that didn't make me do that though.

  • Trying to find a Wifi Repeater for Verizon FIOS router?

I have a Verizon FIOS router that provides wifi for my house. The problem is that my basement downstairs has an iffy connection. It goes from 5 bars from upstairs to 1 bar. So...I was thinking of getting a wifi repeater to extend the coverage of the wifi network throughout the entire house.

    Any suggestions?

  • Had I not crossed a minefield to save someone, I would have never been picked and I would have not died...?

Had I not crossed a minefield to save someone, I would have never been picked and I would have not died three times in this show. The first time when trying to save a colleague, the second time when trying to escape with my daughter in a different timeline. What show is this? Who was I trying to save the first time? Who replaced me after my first death and how did I die the third time?

  • What gaming PC allows you to add a PS3 or Xbox 360 to your tower?

I know that you can make your own PC tower and add a PS3 or 360 to it. However, it'll be a lot of work. I know that there's one on sale on some website where you can add a PS3 or 360 to a gaming PC as part of it's tower. Anyone heard of it?

  • How do you dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu or Fedora?

I have an HP Laptop with Windows 7 and I have a good amount of space on my hard drive. So I figured why not dual boot with Windows 7 and either Ubuntu linux or Fedora linux?

First of all, what is recommended more to dual boot with, Ubuntu or Fedora?

Second, how do you actually setup dual booting?

Also I heard you would have to do partitioning of some sort with my hard drive.

What would be the rule of thumb to get enough space for Ubuntu or Fedora?

    Thanks!

  • Probability Question?

You breed miniature mules (father is a miniature donkey, mother is a miniature horse) and currently have as breeding stock 1 jack (male donkey) and 7 mares (female horses) and these are able to produce 7 mule foals (baby mules) for you every year. You would like to produce miniature mules that are quite small, but unfortunately there is considerable variation in the sizes of mule offspring produced even from the same set of parents. Based on the best information you can obtain, the heights of the mules you produce are normally distributed with a mean height of 32.5 inches and a standard deviation of 1.25 inches. Any mule less than or equal to 32 inches can be sold for a high price and any mule greater than 32 inches in height can be sold only for a lower price.

If a mule foal is both less than 32 inches in height and of a desirable color it can be sold for a very high price. You have determined that there is a 20% probability that any given foal will be of a desirable color, and that color is independent of height. What is the probability that you will have at least one mule that can be sold for a very high price in any given year?

  • Normal Probability Distribution Question?

Assuming that your model (normal distribution with parameters as stated above) of mule heights is accurate, and also assuming that there is no limit to the level of precision with which you can measure the mules, what is the probability that any given mule will turn out to be one you can sell at the high price?

  • Poisson and Binomial Distribution question?

Suppose that the number of devastating earthquakes (above a certain magnitude and occurring in a populated region and/or producing dangerous tsunami) occurring somewhere in the world averages out to 2.5 per year. Furthermore, assume that the occurrence of devastating earthquakes is a Poisson process.

Over any given 10-year period, what is the probability that there will be 3 or more years in which 1 or fewer earthquakes happen in each of those years?
