  • Spiders/spider poo question. There are 2 spots in our house, both under cabinets, where we started seeing big?

splotches of -what we found out was- spider poop. Apparently there must be a web right under the counter and therefore their poo falls on that spot. Anywho, spiders keep dying in these same spots so I'm guessing when one dies another takes over the web? Why are so many just dying in these same spots? Just seems weird to me. At first we didn't know what the spots were but I would always see a dead spider show up a day or two later so we started watching and lo and behold a new dead spider every few days.

Just curious. I guess when I sweep the broom isn't catching these webs or maybe they are favoring this same spot over and over???

  • Can I go ahead and grout some tiles pieces I am laying about an hour after they've been set?

They're just a few on the edges and the rest of the room is ready for grout. I'm just thinking it's OK if all the tiles around them are ready and we aren't walking on the newly set ones on the edges.

  • Tile/backerboard question. Trying to save time and I know it's prob wrong but...?

Laying tile in a 5x8 bathroom, going to put down cement board using thinset and then screwing it down.

Please verify first, is a 1/4 x 3/8 trowel OK? Also OK for 18x18 tile installation? Or should I go 1/4 x 1/4 for cement board and 1/4 x 1/2 for tiles?

OK, here's where I need to break the rules. I don't have 24 hours to let the thinset dry under the cement board so which option is better of these two:

Go ahead and just lay tile over it and hope my 120 lbs of weight on it doesn't do any harm OR cut smaller pieces of cement board (say maybe 24" wide), lay those down and then put the tile on them leaving about 6" so that when I move backwards toward the door and put down my next 24" piece of cement board (see this way my weight is never on any cement board) the tile I lay on it will overlap the seam between it and the first piece of cement board.

I am worried about my weight on it in the first scenario and worried about too many seams in my second scenario. Input please and I really don't need to know how this is wrong, just the lesser of two evils or a good option you can come up with.

  • My 3 yr old cat is nuts and refuses to stay outside for more than an hour or so at a time...?

We found him as a stray 2 years ago and had him fixed. About 6 months ago he had 2 bladder surgeries and a new urethra constructed and while healing did stay in more than he had before. He was also using a litter box during his recovery (he had never had one before but learned during his 3-week stay at the vet).

We moved a month ago to a 200-acre farm. I guess it may be a little scary for him to be in a new place but he's had time to adjust. The thing is, we put him outside and he tries to climb the screens, claw the doors, come in windows, and screams to come back inside after anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. I don't know what to do about it and he's not supposed to be inside now as a condition of our lease. I don't want to get caught with him in the house or I wouldn't care where he wanted to be. I just don't understand his new insane NEED to be inside almost constantly now. This is how he used to act to go OUTside. He was always an outside cat. I feel bad because I don't want him to be frightened but it's more that he's just being a brat. During the day with no one and nothing around, there is he, demanding to be let back in and climbing the screens.

I plan to build him a sort of tree house to hide in as he's always been sort of skittish about the outside and used to basically live on the roof of our old house (he can't get on this roof). We had to trap big mean stray tomcats at our old house and take them to the pound to basically protect him since he was terrified of them. Any suggestions on what to do about his behavior? He even does this when he's in the huge mudroom with the kitten we rescued last month so it's not because he's lonely. FYI the kitten cannot be outside alone as he is small and there are hawks and coyotes around. He's just gone nuts and wants to be in the house all the time, period. ??? Why?

  • We just moved to the country and there are all these flying small insects coming in?

and getting stuck all over my bathroom ceiling. They can fit through the screens and it's too nice out to be closed up with the AC on so in they come. I'm assuming the get stuck to the smooth ceiling when it is steamy from the shower and now I'm going to have to scrub the little buggers off. Any ideas on how to sort of prevent them from coming in (other than closing the window) like spraying something on the screens or how to get them from sticking to the ceiling?

  • We just moved into a house that uses a well and having silt issues?

It's newly remodeled with new pump and some big thing next to the water heater (that sort of looks like a smaller water heater and says "water system-must be the pump) but I'm having to clean the screen on the back of the washing machine literally every 3-4 loads of laundry because the silt clogs it so bad it won't let any water through. Now I'm seeing silt in the shower water. Is there a way to put a filter on that machine or the pump so eliminate this silt clogging everything else???

  • My sons desktop computer monitor keeps going sort of streaky.?

This only shows up on his desktop and when he has a game open. If we open a web page the page will look fine but the Windows bars on the top and bottom of the screen are still streaky. He can get it to go away by restarting his computer sometimes but not at others. What is going on with this?

  • I have a Maytag Legacy Series washing maching (about 7 years old) and need a little help?

The hose that fills it has water coming in but instead of the water going directly into the tub it seems to be going...I don't really know where it's going but it's now filling from outside the tub from the bottom up. What could this be and how to fix it?

    Thanks for your help.

  • I have an rca model L32wd12 with no remote and need some help please.?

I have been using it with an HDMI cable to display my laptop screen. I turned it on today and connected my DVD player to it but couldn't get channel 3 but there were a lot of other channels (we don't have any cable or anything right now) available. So I went in thru the menu using the button on the actual TV and had it run through channel search...obviously this won't work because like I said we don't have cable so there are no channels that it can "discover".

Well now when I try to go through the channels to get to my channels there are none and I can't get my HDMI or Cmp 1 or Cmp 2, etc. channel options.

How can I get these options back? I am going to get a universal remote but even then how would I get these options back? We're not planning on getting cable for awhile because I was just going to use my laptop and netflix account.

  • My dad *who has lost his GA issued drivers license* just bought a car in VA from a private seller, now what?

Meaning, he has the title and he has signed the back as well as the seller did. There is a space for a "second buyer" underneath where my dad signed. He does not have an ID or drivers license and cannot get back to GA to get another one right now. He wants to sell the car to make a profit so he can buy a van he just found.

He can't register the car in VA because he does not live there, he can't drive it to GA without a tag and since he has no ID or license he can't even get a temp permit to get it there. What are his options to sell it? Can the person sign under "second buyer"? Isn't he required by law to register it before he can resell it?

I have someone going to look at it tomorrow and if they want to buy it on the spot I'm not sure what we can do. To sum it up, no ID or license, has unregistered car with title that he just got and only space open on back to be signed (since he just signed it) is "second buyer".

  • I want to use the meatballs I usually make with red sauce as an appetizer for our wedding reception but w/o?

sauce but I don't want them to get too dry. They are a pork/beef blend with ricotta and Parmesan cheese. I also am not sure how to cook them as they usually get cooked in a sauce. I would like them to end up in a crock pot the morning of the reception to heat them up (I want to cook and possibly freeze them in advance) and keep them hot. What could I put in the crock pot while they thaw and heat up to keep them moist? Could I just pour some beef broth in there? Any tips on how to cook them in advance (oven? and if so, would I put a broth or something in the pan while they bake?), how to freeze them after baking, and then how to finish the process in the crock pot?

    Thanks

  • Looking for a recipe addition to "firm up" my stuffed mushrooms?

I take creamed chopped spinach, bleu cheese crumbles, and the chopped stems and gills from portabella mushrooms and mix it up. I brush the caps with melted butter, spoon the mix into the caps and bake for 15-20 minutes. I added an egg to the mixture and was told they taste better and it seemed to hold the ingredients together a bit more but it still didn't look the way I wanted it to.

Should I add another egg? I want the mix to get a bit crusty or crunchy and firm up more sort of like a souffle but not as much egg. Thanks for your tips.

P.S. The mix gets pretty soggy but I don't know if I should drain it before baking. Im told they like them "juicy"...

  • Any suggestions for a lifelike baby doll to help a 10 year old girl with downs syndrome learn to be more?

careful with actual babies? She tends to grab babies up not realizing that she may be too rough or hurting them and it freaks out the babies and the parents. She's not my child but someone asked me to help find her a baby doll that looks lifelike and may teach her some responsibility as well as how to be more gentle. What I've found so far are more like collectors items and very expensive so any other suggestions will be helpful.

  • About 6 months ago I hurt the muscle that runs along my shin (not really sure how-hit it hard on something)?

and it swelled up pretty bad and bruised. The swelling took weeks to go away and it was numb. Well, now I've noticed there is still a bruise (I think it went away and came back) and sort of a "dent" in the muscle. What in the heck is going on with this and when is it going to go away?

I don't have insurance and it's not affecting my daily life so I'm not going to the dr but I want to know if this is sort of common after trauma to that area. Could there be a blood clot under there?

    Thanks for any info.
