  • Heart rate suddenly dropped while working out.?

While on the elliptical today my heart rate dropped suddenly (the machine measures my heart rate though the hand grips). I usually target around 160 (I know this is high) to 170. Without a break in stride (the speed remained constant) my heart rate suddenly dropped to 145 and stayed there. Any thoughts?

Follow up. I feel great. I was on the elliptical for about an hour and it only dropped at the end. I got scared and stopped. No dizziness, lightheadednes, no chest pains or anything. I feel like I could have done another 30 minutes

  • Why is falling asleep at work the most restful sleep ever?

So I sleep pretty well. I get a solid eight in and wake up rather restful, no complaints right. Now like most, when I wake in the morning I would rather crawl back into bed, but I don t have to "fight" the urge to do so. But it s different when I fall asleep working, playing video games, or doing someother mindless tasks. When I nod off then it is the most rejuvenating rest I ve ever had. I ll wake up in twenty minutes and feel like I ve slept for a day! Why is this? Is engaging in a mildly stimulating activity allowing me to enter REM more quickly? Anyone know?

  • A really insensitive question about the end of the world. (Prepare to be triggered)?

If the world was ending and the only hope for the human race to not go extinct was to send genetic clones on a multi-generational stellar trip to a potentially habitial system (similar plot to the short lived 1997 scifi show "Mission Genesis"). How would we decide who should go? There would only be enough room/resources/fuel to take a certain number of individuals. Obviously we would want to test the indiviuals for IQ, genetic disorders, and physical abilities to ensure the settlements survivability. But the whole idea is to ensure humans are not forgotten in the pages of time. Does that mean all races would have to be represented? What about all genders? How about all religions, and creeds (Brits see them selves very differently than the Scotts, even though we in the west see them as about the same). How about those who do have disorders? The autistic, or the down syndrome? Are these people to be forgotten? Where do we draw the line?

  • Strange dream, wanna help me figure out its meaning?

So last night I had a very strange dream. I was picking up some clutter around the house when I ran acrossed these two small towels (like hand towels or wash cloths). When I went to pick it up I notice that they were unbelievably hot to the touch. Then one randomly caught fire and the fire started to spread to other things. I immediately ran to the bathroom to get some water to extinguish the flames. I then carefully took the the coths to the bathroom to douse them in water in attempt to keep them for ingiting. At first they boiled the water. Then they went through stages of being hot to the touch to being room temperature. No matter what I did, I could not get them to be a steady temperature. Frustrated, I left them to soak to focus on something else. When I returned I found that the coths have inexplicably left the sink and moved themselves to other parts of the bathroom and began to heat up again. I attempted to get them back into the sink, but this time it was like they were alive and struggling to stay out of the water. I remember feeling a dark presence about them. This continued for the remainder of the dream.

  • What do you think about traditional martial arts in america?

As a practicing martial artist for most of my life, I've noticed a trend of people who mock it more than before. I don't know if this is because this has always been the mind set (and people were just blowing smoke because of my age), or if perceptions have really changed.

To give an example. Before if I said that I practiced any form of ma before people would say things like; Really, what style? Or I've always wanted to study blah blah blah. Or Oh yeah when I was a kid I did blah blah blah.

But now its like; Oh karate masa. Or Whattaa yatata kai!! Or something ridiculous.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Doctors, how do you feel about bone conditioning?

I am a martial artist by career of fourteen years. Here recently I've wanted to improve my craft in areas I am lacking. One of these areas is bone hardening. I have many methods and drills taught to me and I teach out to harden and strengthen certain bones. But I never have gotten the perspective of a trained medical professional. The theory of our bone hardening is impact drills to abuse the bones to a point to cause micro-fractures and cause the body to heal these fractures causing stronger bones (but not hard enough to cause bruising, swelling, or noticeable damage). We strike soft, yet dense, objects with the desired part of our body we wish to harden: such as; heavy bags, phone books, loose bundle of bamboo sticks, and each other’s arms or legs. What is your professional opinion on this training? Do you have concerns of future damage? Is there any advice you can offer to help/improve our training? Have you heard of this conditioning before, and what was the outcome?

  • What do they call darth vader in sweden?

Most Americans don't know Vader is Swedish for father. If they did then the fact that Vader was Luke's dark father wouldn't of been a shock when episode five first came out. To keep the same mystery for the Swedish release it makes me wonder. They could not call Vader, Vader, as it would be the same for us calling him father. So if they didn't call him Vader then what did they call him??

  • Do most people just want a friend who agrees with what ever they say?

Why do most of my friends ask for my opinion and then try to argue against it once they hear it? Are they really expecting me to try to figure out what they want to hear and then just agree with them??

  • What would the universe look like if you viewed while perfectly still?

Einstein was very interested in what the universe would look like while moving near or at the speed of light. And he found that things react in a different manner than what common thought (of that time) would of been. And we as a society have ran all sorts of tests on speed and matter and matter accelerated at enormous speeds. But all of these tests have been performed here on earth or just outside of earth where we still move based on galactic central point.

Has anyone theorized what the outcome of some of these experiments would have resulted at a purely zero velocity? Who are they? What did they theorize?

Disclaimer: for those that want to argue instead of finding the question. I know it is impossible to be perfectly still due to the fact that all matterknow vibrates at a atomic scale. Lets actually consider the question instead of finding holes in the premise.

  • Is there a hard drive storage device that i can store and watch my dvds from my tv?

Preferably with a remote sensor to navigate through my collection of DVDs. This way I can worry less about the storage, preservation, and retrieval of my favorite movies. Any body know of a system for this?

  • What is the defference between "那迩 and 那里"?

I am learning mandarin and came across an anomaly between my many learning sources. Some of my books and tapes will ask the question:

    复兴门路那里? Fu(4)xing(1)men(2) lu(4) na(4) li(2)? Where is Fuxingmen road?

    And others will say

    复兴门路那迩? Fu(4)xing(1)men(2) lu(4) na(4) er(3)? Where is Fuxingmen road?

What’s the difference why the inconstancy?

  • Could you blindly agree with your mate even if in your heart you opposed their view point?

No matter what the subject. They ask you about Gay marriage, Abortion, the actions of people you know, who should have gone home on the last episode of American Idol. And you know what their stance is because of how they asked you, or they mentioned it before in the past, or just the way they asked for your opinion. Could you swallow your pride and blindly agree with them just to give them the reassurance they were looking for when they asked for your opinion? I am having a hard time doing just that.

  • Can a pawn overtake a queen or not?

Playing a chess video game. And I always thought I knew the ins and outs of the game. But then the game started doing weird moves (later they were en passets or what ever). But then like a three year old who hates losing it wouldn't allow me to attack the queen with my pawn or king. I don't know if this is some rule I've never heard of or if my game is just getting tired of being beaten mercilessly.
