  • What is the best glue to use to glue rocks to rubber?

I am making a door mat out of river rock. To do this, I am gluing 1" to 3" diameter rocks to the rubber back of an outdoor mat. I would like something very strong, easy to use, and waterproof. Thank you for your assistance.

  • Does anyone have a good idea for using an old screen door in a garden?

I like to incorporate old, or rusty, or primitive items into my gardens. I've found good use for such things as old laundry tubs, a wringer washer, a clawfoot bathtub, old wheelbarrow, etc. I am in possession of a wonderful old screen door which I would like to use outside. Any unique ideas on how this could be done? Thank you.

  • How can I mark or label or write on medium-sized rocks for a rock garden?

I have a small corner of my yard that is infested with morning glory weed. I have given up on trying to keep it looking nice as a garden area. My plan now is to sterilize the ground, cover it with heavy duty black plastic and a bark mulch of some sort, and place medium to large sized rocks on it, like you would find in a rock garden. I may even place pots here and there with something colorful in them. Just to make it a little more fun and interesting, I plan to collect these rocks from various places I visit. I would like to keep track of where the rocks are from and I am wondering if anyone has a good idea on how to mark them to do this.? So far I have thought of just printing the names of the towns with waterproof paint, or attaching some kind of a metal plate, or even just labeling plant marker stakes and placing one beside each rock. What unique ideas do you have?

  • I am fixing dinner before prom for my granddaughter and her boyfriend. Any ideas?

They want a steak dinner with all the trimmings, which is what I will fix. I will also serve (non-alcoholic) sparkling cider. I am planning on setting up a table in my small library/fireplace area of the house and decorating with white candles, white lights, and fresh flowers. What else could/should I do? Any ideas for something unique or different? Thank you.

  • I need a large fake pig. How can I make one?

I am using a Hawaiian luau theme in my back yard for my granddaughter's after graduation party. I have a firepit and we thought it would be fun if we could hang a fake pig above it. Any ideas? Thank you.

  • Does anyone know of a good product to use to keep furniture legs from sliding on wood floors?

I have a sectional in my TV room which sits on a wood floor. One section of it is constantly sliding out of place. I have tried furniture coasters, pieces of non-slip foam, and various other articles to try to prevent this. Do you have a brilliant solution to help me? Thank you.

  • What experience have you had with an online job working from home? How does one start?

I am interested in doing some part time work at an online job. I am more interested in data entry or something similar to that, not a small business. Have you had any experiences doing this? Good or bad? What are some reliable sources to obtain information on how to start? Thank you.

  • Do you have any unique ideas for framing a piece of 1927 sheet music?

My mother-in-law, Charmaine, lost sheet music she had for the song "Charmaine." This was very special to her. I was fortunate to find a replacement and would like to have it framed. I would love to hear any ideas anyone has on how this could be done in a different or unique way. It consists of the face sheet and two other pages and is in excellent condition. Should I consider framing anything else with it, such as family photographs, etc.?

  • What can I do with a small triangular garden area at a corner intersection?

I need to redo a small garden area, triangular-shaped, that is very high profile as it is located on my property at a 4-way stop. Right now it is full of morning glory that is impossible(?) to get rid of so I may have to even use ground sterilizer. What creative ideas do you have for this space? I have a few ideas, but it is always fun to see what ideas others might have. Thank you in advance for your input.

  • Can I paint a cement retaining wall, and if so, what product do you recommend?

I have a cement retaining wall in my back yard and have recently had a cement patio put in right in front of it. The wall is old, cracked in places, and I think it would look better if it was spruced up somewhat. What suggestions can you offer?

  • Do you have any ideas for Mexican side dishes or appetizers I can serve with tacos?

I am hosting a high school graduation party for my grandson and two of his friends in my back yard following the graduation ceremony, which will be attended by family and friends. The boys want tacos, which is fine, so I will set up a "make-your-own-taco-bar." However, I would also like to serve other dishes, as well, and stick with the Mexican theme. I am looking for something relatively easy to make and serve in an outdoor setting. Any ideas? Thank you.

  • How can I display my small antique gardening tools?

I have a collection of antique gardenng tools (small ones such as trowels, old fashioned sprinklers, weeders, etc.) that I would like to display on the side of my house. Any fun and interesting ideas out there on how to do this? I do have an old wooden stepladder and an old wooden screen door and old wooden long handled tools (hoes, rakes, etc.) that I have considered using to hang them off. It's always fun to gather ideas from other gardeners. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

  • When did words such as "gonna" and "ya" become real words?

More and more I see "gonna:" used for "going to" and "ya" used for "you." Are these acceptable words now? There are many other words being misused, but these seem to be all too common. Does it bother anyone else that our English language is being so tragically butchered?

  • What tomato plant do you recommend to be grown in Zone 7?

It seems like every year I try a different type of tomato and can't seem to come up with a favorite. What do you like and why? I live in the southeastern corner of Washington State so it has to be something that can be grown in Zone 7. Thank you in advance for your input and information.

  • Do you have some pointers on how to easily start an indoor "garden" for someone in a nursing home?

My neighbor, who always worked outside in his yard, is now confined to a dementia ward in the local nursing home. He still responds to plants, trees, leaves etc. I did take him some bare branches in water off my corkscrew willow tree which have now leafed out and he likes that. What else can I do? I'm thinking of taking small pots full of potting soil and helping him start seeds, (coleus comes to mind as they could be transplanted and used as houseplants.) Do you have any other ideas? Obviously we are limited on space (there is a large windowsill in his room). Could we grow any vegetables? Thank you for any suggestions.

  • What kind of window covering should I use besides blinds on closet windows?

I have a small room with 2 windows off my bedroom. I want to convert this room into a closet. I am concerned about the sunlight fading the clothes; on the other hand, I would like to retain as much light as possible. I don't particularly want to use blinds. I am seriously considering using the self-adhering embossed vinyl window film. Good idea or bad idea? Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.
