I want to work with someone experienced in Construction Quantity Surveying and Computer Programming to design a new program or modify an existing program which calculates landscaping material volumes and contract costs for earthwork (cut/fill) construction projects.

Example public parks, football pitches etc. designed to a standard size, based on volumetric differences between 1) field surveys of existing sites 2) field surveys after optimum design work completion and 3) existing cost per meter for earth removed, placed, landscaped etc.

The process needed involves the following; Field surveyors will go on site and take a grid of levels of existing ground in the proposed site where the landscaping will take place using existing equipment such as Dumpy Levels, Theodolites etc.

The field surveyors will then input their raw data into the 'New Program' based on design levels will calculate the required quantities to do the job. e.g. amount of sand fill to level x = 1200m3 amount of topsoil to level x +0.3metres = 50m3 @ $50/m3 = $2500 giving total contract price $xyz.

A list of contractors have submitted a BOQ (bill of quantities) that sets out what the price they will charge/m3 for each material sand, rock, earth etc.

The Design Program will automatically calculate the cost for each contractor to construct each job based on their Bill of Quantities and the volumes of material needed to complete the job to bring it to design levels.

The jobs all have similar complex footprints (example say an entry road with a football pitch, hockey pitch, running track, landscaped area etc. that require multiple levels.

I am an irish guy working in an office in Saudi Arabia and a non arab Muslim from a country where a good percentage of the population see everything asa conspiracy thinks I am trying to take his job. He recently put in a long abusive email the line

"If I want I can make you and you will run like a pig to save your soul".

Please, good advice will be appreciated and I am not a Troll or Trolling, just concerned that I do not have the cultural knowledge and advice to read the situation correctly

P.S. I informed my boss who is Saudi and he said this is not a serious threat coming from a Muslim though I dont know if he just wants a quiet office.

I raised this up to my Saudi boss and he held a closed door meeting with me and this guy where my boss agreed that this is only a phrase used in the gulf and not to take it seriously.

Please genuine advice only, I am not Trolling, should I see this as a death threat or not

Should I take this as a death threat and if so what should I do?

I have worked in an office in the middle east for ten years and have worked in the same office as a Pakistani guy who can only be described as driven for that time. This guy wants to be the only appointee for every position of responsibility in the office.

I was recently appointed as back up to one of those positions "Writing English Reports" as it has been noticed by managment that his level of english grammar is not to standard and I am a native english speaker so they were gently going to remove him from this roll without telling him as they know how driven he is.

This was 9 months ago and since then this guy has been seriously abusive to me including personal insults, insults about my wife. This abuse climaxed the other day when he sent me a rambling email that went like this.

X my friend I have know you a long time and we have great respect for each other but you are trying to screw your friend out of success. I admire your efforts but you are a useless employee really and everyone knows this and calls you names behind your back. Your only strength is English and I dont want this job as I am so busy..............................and on.......and on...until he wrote

"I can be very hard of you; and as a result of that you will run like frighten pig to save your soul" but I respect you and all the good times we have had so please go back to work and leave me to my important business.

I raised this up to my boss who is an Arab who held a closed door meeting. The pakistani guy claimed this does not actually constitute a death threat in the Middle East. My Boss seemed more concerned about this guys blood pressure or not offending him (I dont know) and when this guy nearly started crying when he said I had said his English was poor, my boss totally ignored the comment.

Personally I think my boss just does not want me to upset this guy by telling him about his English but also eh wants to keep a lid on this and for me not to report this to higher managemnet as they need this guy for his other duties that he is good at.

Could you Guys please advise as to whether it is a cloaked death threat like example "Mary had a little lamd, Mary had a little lamb, I am going to make you squeel like a pig to save you soul and every where that Mary went the little lamb went too" or am I over reacting and if not what should I do??????

I am a foreigner working for the Saudi Arabian national oil company and got mediumly drunk at a party in a secure compound the other day so it was not illegal as long as it was not broadcast or I did not stray out in public while drunk.

Trouble is I fall asleep when I am even slightly drunk and in 3 photos that this woman took I am literally hanging off my wife asleep looking absolutley while walking around. The pictures came off also showing all my rotten (Shane McGowan)teeth which I should have gotten fixed years ago.

This with the fact that my wife is black and I am white makes the pictures ideal for going viral around the offices with 50,000 employees which they have officially done today. The pictures were 5 of 200 but were limmediatley picked up on by the gossips and spread like wild fire.

This english girl said that she did it by mistake as her family from england was visiting and she just uploaded the photos she took the night before without editing them as she didnt have time as she wanted to be with her family.

I don't believe her; even though she is a long time friend of my wife she would not have posted pictures of her Saudi boyfriend of 10 years who drinks because if she had done the same he would have finished the relationship as that would literally put an end to his career so her claim that she didnt think sounds crap to me.

My wife of ten years is standing by her friend though and this is causing real trouble between us I dont know if our marriage will survive should I get fired.

Question: What do you think: In this day and age is there seriously anyone outthere dumb enough that would do such a think by mistake or is there maliciousness in this?

And what shoudl I do now. I mean even if I dont get fired I will be known as the company drunk from now on which is not a good thing in a country where alcohol is illegal and half the workforce will look down their noses at me. I had pyloric stenosis (hardening of the stomach exit valve leading to malnutrition) as a baby 38 years ago and was in hospital from the age of 4 weeks to 8 weeks on the flat of my back for treatment. My mother remembers the medicine I was given was called Skopel/Skopal/Scopal or some phonetic variation of this but we are unsure of the exact name. I have tried every variation I can think of this name but cant source it on Google so I sure it has been discontinued and is not made any more.

This medicine used to be given to children 15 minutes before food and they say I used to literally go berserk screaming and vibrating every time I took it until food was put into my stomach; hopefully this jogs some ones memory as my mother said the effect was the same for all kids.

I am looking to source this medicines name so I can find the company who made it to hopefully get a sample as I am underlinging bio-med treatment which is a new treatment to rid poisons from your body and they need a sample of the medicine to successfully do this. I have recently been poisoned by another chemical accaccidentald I am now my whole system has become really sensitive to over 50% of all foods/liquids etc. really affecting my day to day.

Its not very PC to say such things or worse again mention that child labour is doing the same thing (I was personally used as an extra pair of hands for the busy summer season on the farms in Ireland and put in regular 10 hour days cutting turf, counting rounding up and milking cows, saving hay, picking stones out of fields to plant vegetables etc. etc. and it was of benefiit to me today as an adult it also wa a major reason Ireland dragged itself out of second world status in 1 generation. I was physically and mentally abused as a child by my father. I was on speaking terms with him up unto 3 years ago when I brought my wife home and he started emotionally abusing her. The early stages as I call it - He started smirking at her like she was ugly when no one was looking and ignoring her totally for the rest of this time. I put up with this for 2 days for the sake of my mother who hadn't seen me in 5 years and after this I told him how horrible he was as a father to me from childhood right up unto adulthood. I left the house right there and will not go back. I feel that the only reason I saw how bad it was was that when he started abusing my wife of 8 years who I love more than myself it was like someone shined a mirror on what he did to me in the past and I couldn't hold back. I saw exactly what type of a monster he was. My poor wife took months to get her confidence back she says it was one of the most awful experiences she has ever gone through.

Trouble is that was 3 years ago. I know I can never see him again but I need to forgive him without ever meeting him again and move on with my life because he has been living in my head for three years and is slowly driving me mad. Can anyone offer some advice. Maybe on past experiences?
