  • Bare necessities needed after a house fire?

My friend's house burnt down a week ago. They're moving into a temporary home for a while and the insurance company has provided basic furniture and mattresses and some dishes and towels. We're trying to think of the stupid little stuff they're going to need. Kitchen utensils, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and stuff like that.

Any ideas on what all you'd need to have in the house if you were restarting?

  • How to treat a numb/tingling foot?

Last Monday I fell and landed on my left foot. For the first three days it hurt really bad, but I woke up the other morning and half of my foot went completely numb. The whole right side of my left foot is numb from where the arch starts down, except for the big toe. I hurt the top and side of my ankle where it bends, and if I touch that spot or my shoe hits it in a certain way, it makes the numb part of my foot even bigger and it tingles more!

I guess it has something to do with the nerves, but is there anything I can do other than ice it and take ibuprofen? It's been numb for four days now.

  • What kind of plant is this?

There is this stalk-like plant growing in the flowerbed again. Last year I let on of them grow because it grew superfast, just to see how large it got, and it went to about 8feet tall and tilting over before I took it out. It doesn't have flowers or anything, just leaves and a stem. The leaves are long(about as long as my hand) and thin (less than 1 in.) with serrated edges. Anyone know what these are?

  • How do I have a flat stomach but fat sides?

My tummy is flat, and I'm not very big, but how is it even possible to have fat on my hips but not my stomach (not that I'm complaining, I'm just wondering if it's normal.) My waist goes in and curves out, but gets really thin again right below my hip bones and goes out again where I have a lot of muscle/fat/whatever in my thighs. o.O anyone else have this problem?

  • What can cause pressure on ribs?

For the past two weeks, I've been feeling a kind of pressure on my ribs/lungs/something in that area, especially when I'm sitting down. Laying on my stomach is extremely umcomfortable, like my ribs are poking something they shouldn't be but It's not really stabbing pain, just dull, like its twisted wrong. I can breathe fine, though, so it's not that bad. Also my stomach has been feeling funny, like between my ribcage. Does anyone know whats going on?

    Thanks!

  • Does my grandmother have Alzheimer's?

She forgets where she puts things and thinks people are stealing her stuff. She can't remember how to do things my brother and I explain to her minutes later (usually on the computer, but It's still not hard.) She tells the same stories over and over and stuff too, and forgets what day it is. Sometimes she won't take a shower for a few days, and when I ask her about it she says she doesn't think it matters because she doesn't go out of the house much. She doesn't eat well either. I think she only eats once a day, sometimes twice unless someone is there with her (she lives alone.) It all sounds like Alzheimer's but I'm not sure because she doesn't go out and get lost on the way to the store or anything like that what you usually hear from people. She's mainly just really paranoid. Could it be Alzheimer's and what can I do to help her?"

  • Who has went to college and worked full-time?

I'm going to be starting out as a freshman in a week, going to school Mon-Fri, and working full time, five days a week on evenings and weekends. How the hell am I supposed to have a social life? I want to be able to enjoy college, but since I'm commuting from thirty-five minutes away, I'm worried I'm going to miss out. Plus I already hardly talk to any of my friends from high school now.

Has anyone had to do this before? or still have to?

  • Smell and Memory? Is there some kind of link between them?

I always associated the smell of this orange glittry lip gloss with an old house in a town nearby me, and I asked my grandmother recently why I would have ever been in that place, because I didn't know why I've ever been there, even thought I can visualize the inside. She told me that one of her relative used to live there, but the date she gave me that they moved out at would have made me three years old at the oldest, the last time I would have been there. But for some reason, I link this lip gloss smell to it. It's like orange, only it's a sweet orange, but kind of bitter like. It's hard to explain it, but the only time I've ever smelled it before (other than the lip gloss) was once when I went on vacation and I was walking down the city street and I smelled it again, but I don't know where it came from.

And I didn't have that gloss way back then.

    What causes it?

  • Learning computer programming. Languages?

I'm pretty good with computers. My brother is a computer programmer for a military contracted company, so I already know a lot from him about how the languages work, and I have access to his textbooks and brain if I need. Should I start with C/C++ or Java or something else? Also, how hard is it to learn Basic? I love computers and yeah, I'm a geek and I want to know how they work better and even though I'd like to take a computer class in college, there are other things I'd like to fit into my schedule.

    Thanks for any help!

  • My cat went crazy. Help?

Yesterday, my father went outside and found my cat in the yard and it was acting drunk. He wasn't walking straight and its legs were splayed out. He kept falling and weaving and it ran from us. We followed it down to the neighbor's yard, but we didn't get too close because we were afraid it had rabies or something and it went behind a shed and threw up. He wasn't trying to attack us, and he wasn't hissing or anything like rabbid cats do. He was running around, and he was looking at us but going the opposite direction, so he might have been trying to come to us. He was mewling all weird like in pain. What's the matter?

    Could it be rabies?

Or could he have been hit (someone pulled out of my driveway minutes before, and that particular cat does like to go across the road.)

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Bands like Neurosonic?

I'm looking for something new to listen to, not the same old stuff I've heard a thousand times. I like Neurosonic, Linkin Park, Sum 41, Static-X, Blink 182, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Black Label Society.

I'm looking for something that's still rock and sounds good, but with that little electronic thing going on like Neurosonic has or something you can dance to, you know?, Like Blaqk Audio's "stiff Kittens" or like Dope's "*****" or some of the Rob zombie stuff. Neurosonic is basically my favorite band of the week but for like the past three weeks. I'm becoming obsessed with it. ^.^

(Not pop. I hate Metro station and that ****.)

  • Clit hood piercing? Questions! Mature answers, please.?

I want to get my clit hood pierced. A vertical one, because I like them better. I'm not doing it for a guy or anything, I've just always been curious about them and I really want it. I have a piercer who has been doing this for 30 years, and he's clean. I'm not getting the actual clit pierced, just the hood, and I was wondering a few things.

    -Will it hurt to pee?

-Can I wear lace panties after it heals?

-How long will it bleed for and how much?

-Is it hard to find jewelry, is it more expensive?

-Does it really heal in two weeks?

-Will I be able to drive home or will it hurt?

-I walk around a lot at work, so will that affect anything?

So, people who had it done before, please answer!

    Thanx!

  • What's wrong with me? Headache, Sleep problems...?

-I have had a very dull headache, just bad enough to bother me, for over twenty four hours now. I had a headache for a few hours last week too, but I didn't think it was a problem. Right now, medicine won't work.

-I've had trouble sleeping for the last week, although I'm not sure if its because of my headache or what, because my schedule has recently changed and I sleep different hours. The change didn't bother me before, though so I think it might be related.

-I also haven't had my period for two months. (I'm not pregnant, and I haven't had sex so its not possible.)

Any idea what's wrong with me? And why Tylenol and Advil won't work on my headache. I took more than I even should have.

  • What kind of fish is good for someone who doesn't like fish?

I really don't like fish at all. I don't even like tuna, but I know fish is really good for you so is there any kind of fish that doesn't really taste as...fishy? Or is there a way to prepare it so that some other flavor overpowers the fishy taste? (In a healthy recipe, though) I don't like canned tuna or salmon, and I don't like fried fish either. I like chicken a lot, though. Is there any fish that tastes like chicken?

    Thanks!

  • How to cash a scholarship check?

I received scholarship money from an organization in my high school community, and they awarded them at a dinner with those big checks that are like a foot tall and two feet across. Has anyone ever gotten one before? If so, how do I cash it? I don't think you can wait more than like 90 days to cash it.

    Can anyone help me?

  • Skaters! How much would you pay for a custom skate deck?

I don't skate, but I'd like to start making custom decks if people will buy them and I was wondering how much you have paid or would be willing to pay for one. Like hand-painted, whatever you want on it. Obviously it'd depend on the design and stuff but just around a cost?

    Thx!
