I'm lining up a contractor to do some work on my house. In his quote he line items the cost of labor and materials. Is it reasonable to ask for receipts for all materials?

I'm receiving a quote from a contractor to rip out carpet & base boards in my home and install work floors, new baseboards and paint my doors. He's also going to move my furniture from room to room when he does the work.

Once I have the quote, what's the best way to negotiate a lower price?
