  • What is the somewhat trendy word currently being used in place of "influenced by?"?

I have heard it when someone's writing or music is being reviewed or discussed, as a way to identify where some of the thoughts came from. It does not imply plagiarism, but merely an influential source. Previously, the word was not used much in this context, but I find its use a pleasure to hear. Unfortunately, I can't remember it and would like to.

  • auto insurance rates?

My husband no longer works due to health concerns, and no longer commutes to work. He rarely drives, in fact. Would this information change our insurance rates? He is mid 50-s and had a few accidents in the past but so far has not affected our insurance with State Farm.

  • what to cook for Easter dinner?

husband wants lamb, no one else will eat it. Son wants prime rib, no one else is interested. I want turkey ham, no one else likes it. Husband would eat ham, son won't, I'm allergic. Two guests coming for dinner also, no idea what they like.

  • Does anyone in the Chicago area know what Mr. Sub puts on their grilled chicken that makes it so good?

I would love to be able to make a similiar type of chicken at home. The kind they put on the sub sandwich, Philly Chicken, and Chicken Pita sandwiches? It's SOO good.

  • Dell 720 computer ink "dried up?"?

Stupid printer acts like it is running out of ink but they have both hardly been used and the graphic confirms that they are nearly full. But when I print the quality is terrible, like how it looks when you're running out of ink. I don't print frequently. I tried cleaning off the heads with some alcohol and that helped a little, but it still looks terrible. I've tried replacing with new Dell cartridges, and that worked for about a week, then back to the same problem.

  • Who to complain to - there's nothing worth watching on TV anymore!?

I just looked over the listings for the week. Nothing. What happened to interesting, entertaining, humorous show? I'm insulted. Apparently the powers that be assume everyone out here has IQ's in the below average range. And I'm sick of CSI shows, also.

  • Do you think it will be possible for my chihuahua to pass the Canine Good Citizen test?

We start classes next week. He's a typical, high-strung, emotional, verbal, slightly cautious chihuahua. We've gotten him neutered, socialize him as much as possible, go on walks with neighbors and their dogs, walk at parks, etc. We rescued him about a year ago, and he's making progress and I figured he might be able to participate in a class, but I'm afraid he'll just bark at the other dogs the whole time.

  • Are flight attendants supposed to serve alcohol to minors on the plane?

My son just flew by himself from Houston to Chicago on American, and upgraded to First Class. He was served wine with his dinner, which he accepted, just to see what they said, and the flight attendant gave him a glass and even offered him more later in the flight. He's 18 years old. Was this legal?

  • Need a nice restaurant in the Loop for this Saturday night for our anniversary.?

We're staying in a hotel on N. Wabash overnight and going to see Wicked on Sunday afternoon. Someplace not crazy expensive, but romantic and must have excellend food as my husband is a former chef. Would like somewhere within walking distance. Quiet and romantic, not too crazy or loud.

  • What is up with the chihuahua?

When he's going to sleep at night, and alone in the room, he spends a few minutes howling very dramatically. He prefers to go to sleep by himself, and will actually growl apologetically if you try to bother him once he's settled in for the night. When I go to check on him he acts real nonchalant like "what's your problem?" He's perfectly healthy, happy, active, playful, friendly any other time. Is it possible that when he's going to sleep he just enjoys some "alone time" to howl awhile? He's one year old, we rescued him about 6 months ago.

  • How to make snickerdoodles look more festive?

I'm making snickerdoodle cookies for a cookie exchange, but I feel bad because they're so plain looking. What can I do to dress them up? I thought about using colored sugar to roll them instead of regular sugar, but doesn't it get brown once it's baked? Any other ideas?

  • Does anyone know why Kohls stopped carrying womens shoes in size 11, except for 2 ugly hooker style shoes?

My office mates and I used to shop there all the time. There's 5 of us in 11's, out of 20 in the office, and our girls feet are getting bigger all the time. What's up with Kohl's? I guess I won't be shopping there any more.

  • How much should it cost to replace garage roof?

Husband wants to hire unemployed bozo friends to do it. Roof is about 650 s.f. Also needs to address putting in a couple of vents, what to do about the old gutters, dumpster rental, permit. What would be a reasonable ball park figure. He's probably going to do this no matter what I say, would like some guidance though.

  • Pond fish during the winter??

I've been researching, and it looks like I might need to bring the fish in over the winter. We live in Northern Illinois. It's just a little plastic pond, 25 gallons I think, with 4 big goldfish 3-4" and one fantail that seems to have grown to the size of a small catfish. The pond is less than 2 feet deep and about 3 feet across.

So assuming I need to bring them in for the winter, what equipment will I need? How big of a tank, and will I need a heater or just an air filter? Should I put 1/4 or 1/2 of the pond water in, which for some strange reason has suddenly gotten clear of all it's algae and is now crystal clear without any treatment. Is this good or bad? We have a little fountain running through a bio-filter box thing with the little balls in it. This is the first time I've had a good look at the fish in months, and I wasn't sure even how many there were or how big they were till recently. So what do I do, and when should I start?

  • Trying to get Internet working through Comcast, can't login to anything.?

Been trying to install for a week now. Worked ok until I installed the McAfee security. When starting up, now I get a box stating "c:/Windows/32 or something like that is unavailable" with no options or additional information. When I try to go to a site that requires authentication I get an AOL error 400. I checked Security and privacy settings and they are at "medium." Comcast has already been out twice and said to call Dell, which is crap. I have to ask questions from work, can't log in at home.

  • MetLife 403b fees?

I just got my quarterly statement, and my little account, which has only about $3000 in it, had $100 in fees!! Which is about all I made, also. Do they have unusually high fees? If so, should I encourage my company to look elsewhere?
