I know there is an academic and grammatical word for the little dashes when used in a list like this:

- first point;

- second point;

- final point.

Can anyone remember?

I'm on a company network, and should have access to three diaries. Their owners have granted me access via Tools, Options, Delegates (I'm computer literate so have watched them and can say with confidence I know they've done it right), and I have had the confirmation email to say I can now read and write in their calendars and inboxes. Yet these permissions drop away almost immediately. I am perplexed and cross, as it's getting annoying now, and our IT helpdesk have been unable to resolve it. Is there a knowledgeable techie or geek out there who can help me?? ;)

They were, to the best of my knowledge, still performing in 2004 but have virtually no web-presence beyond an out of date listing for a gig in '04. The group consists of three ladies - Kate Garner, Alison Williams and Liz Dennis, and has a very English sound, a wonderful sense of humour, some great piano, flute and vocal moments and some lovely interesting harmonies.

A friend of mine has a CD of theirs, but I don't know if they ever produced any more, I'd love to hear about it if they have, or even go and see them if they are still performing live!

I work in London, and have been hearing more and more rumours about a proposed hike in fare prices early next year. Does anyone else out there know about it, and is there a website saying how much and when etc?

I'm trying to get one as I have a heart problem and someone I live with has MS, but the GP's surgery are being really cagey, despite the fact they sent me an invitation letter last year.

Any ideas?

I'm no novice to Word, but I'm having trouble with a document written as a joint effort by several colleagues, one of who did a footnote by hand in the text. I've managed to sort that little blip out, but now have a gap in my footnotes between 5 and 7; I can't find footnote 6, despite having hunted high and low, lost the cursor, tried deleting it, looked at them all as endnotes...

It's driving me mad!

Is there an easy solution to this, or am I going to have to take them all out and start again (bearing in mind this is a document running to a substantial number of pages...)?

You can tell I don't usually pay much attention to my calorific intake! :S

Is it traditionally red carnations or red roses that are thrown onto the stage after a performance? I have a feeling it's carnations but I wanted to pass on the bloom in person (my friend is in a production tonight), so I thought a red rose would be more appropriate.

Can any thesps out there advise me on the conventions?

Aside from the obvious worry about obesity and lack of exercise, I read a while back that too much TV (i.e. more than an hour a day) can cause mental health problems, including the potential for the early onset of Alzheimer's, in today's children.

I've stopped watching TV myself (it broke and I've not replaced it) for the last couple of months and I've been more alert, creative and cheerful.

Throw away the shackles and release yourself from your TV!

So, is TV bad for you, or is it, in moderation, a useful tool?

I'm standing in for a screen driver tomorrow and believe I'll be using a '40s Wolseley. The oldest thing I've driven previously is a 1960 Beetle.

Other than the obvious (i.e. no power steering or power brakes!), is there anything I should watch out for that's hard to get used to or very different from a more modern car?

Or maybe it's just 'pollution fever' brought on by the warmer weather. What do you think?

I'm a little worried as I need to fill my tank (in SE England) to make a 7 hour journey tomorrow, and don't want to end up stranded in the wilds of the West Country with a broken down engine.

Do the smaller Corsas even have an oxygen sensor (which seems to be the problem the 'rogue' petrol is causing)?

Opinions or advice by mechanics or Corsa owners would be most useful!

They are mammals which suckle their young, so I assume it would be theoretically if not physically possible; though it would probably be quite salty. Just a thought - what do you think?

I recently bought an outerwear corset for a fancy dress event I went to and realised, after I'd got my breath back and worked out how to sit down without squahing myself, that it was really comfortable and I didn't want to take it off. Especially as I also found, as a side effect, that my sore back felt much better after wearing the corset.

Are there any shops in or around London which sell nice corsets as underwear (sexy, but not kinky), rather than outerwear. I'm not after something industrially constructed or steel-boned, just plastic 'whaleboning' with enough length to cover and support a long back (and give a bit of lift at the front too!). And I've looked in Ann Summers, several places in Camden, and Harmony already!

Any Scots out there...

I know it's a sort of broth/stew, but what are the ingredients (I always used to think it was made from Scottish lizards, which I know now was wrong!)

We've recently cleared out an attic and have found a box of wedding accoutrements from 1917 - some are obviously cake decorations, wax flowers, a veil; but there is one item we are a little puzzled by. It is a long swathe of delicate, embroidered, muslin-lined, silk cloth (too long to be worn as is) which is gathered at both ends. Could it have been a table or wall decoration, or would it have perhaps have been worn over a wedding dress, draped one end over each shoulder?

Any thoughts on relevant UK 1910's fashions?

I've been going out with a really sweet-natured guy for a few months (we've already been friends for quite some time and have lots of fun together), but he is clearly becoming more attached to me than I to him.

I'm really miserable about it as I had a 'Talk' with him yesterday, and have moreorless come to the conclusion that we ought to 'just be friends' (I hate that phrase!), as I don't want to give him false hope and make things worse in the long run.

I don't like feeling that I've somehow let him down. Am I doing the right thing?
