  • Is a home being bought out under eminent domain exempt from Capitol gain?

Recently, we had a home bought out under the eminent domain laws.

The State has not sent us any information to file for our taxes.

Is eminent domain exempt from capitol gain earnings on your income tax?

I've looked through the IRS's website and can't find an exmeption for it but can't figure why the state would not send us some type of reporting form.

Any information or links that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

  • Are you interested int the White Castle Dip Recipe?

A few months ago, I remember someone looking for a white castle dip recipe. I never heard of it.....until last month when we went to a get together with friends and someone brought it.

Needless to say it was so good that I got the recipe that I had to share it and I hope you like it.

When it was our turn for the friends get together I made a double batch of it because it was so good.

    Here is the recipe

2 pounds hamburger (browned and crumbled)

    1 large box Velveeta cheese

2 packages Lipton Onion Soup Mix

2 cans cream of mushroom soup

Put all ingredients in a crock pot until cheese is melted and all ingredients are warm.

You can serve this with chips, crackers, fritos, etc. We even had leftover hotdog buns, so we cut them in half and baked the buns until they were warm and lightly crisp and put the dip in them.

It actually does taste like a white castle.

  • 1/4 of beef with a club steak?

We just picked up a 1/4 beef and although we have had them in the past from a different processor we never had a club steak.

So, my question is what in the heck is a club steak? . Is it similar to a salisubury steak?

In the past 6 years we bought processed cows, we never had this type of cut.

Any idea of recipes??? Or Should I just prepare them as a hamburger type of beef?

  • Breech of Contract? Eminent Domain Matter?

We have a rental home that is being bought fromt the State under eminent Domain. They did all the surveying, assesments, negotiations, etc. and brought a contract over for us to sign. The contract indicates that we would have 30 days to move all residents which I understand we would have to abide by.

But it also indicates that we would be setlled within 90 days. (2 years after filing for hardship).

The main question is, what is our recourse since it is beyong the 90 days.

Wouldn't that be breech of contract, or is the State exempt?

  • Question about Kohlrabi?

We planted some kohlrabi in our garden and it is now ready.

We like to put ours in soups and stews or steam them for a side with meats.

We planted more than we should have and I don't want them to go bad.

Do you think it woul be okay to cut the skin off, cut them into thick slices and then freeze them raw?

Or should I blanch them, first?

Thanks for your suggestion and input.

  • Do you have to have a seperate bedroom for a child under 18?

My daughter and her fiance' live in St. Louis County, Missouri. They went to renew their lease and the landlord told them that becuase they had a child under 18 years of age (the child is 7 months old), that she had to get a 2 bedroom apartment because of the "fair housing act" . It is only her, the fiance' and the baby in the 1 bedroom apartment.

I have never heard of anything to this sort and was wondering:

    1) Is there such an act

    2) If there is such an act or law, how can I acquire more details to it.

It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me but I want to check into it further for her because now she thinks she has to either move or transfer to a 2 bedroom which neither is affordable to them.

  • What to do when a tenant abandons property at rental house?

We have a rental home in Illinois and our tenant of 2 months had left to go see his father on the east coast for 3 - 4 days. That has been nearly 3 weeks ago. He will not return our calls to the only number we have available so we can find out what his intentions are. Our dilema is we don't know what to do with his personal belongings (clothing, small appliances etc.) that he left behind. The house was partially furnished when he moved in so he didn't have to furnish many big items. We want to be as fair as we can and not violate any laws. His rent is now overdue as well. And to complicate things even more the rental house he was staying in is being bought out under eminent domain by the State and now they are ready to negotiate. He was aware of this signing the lease which is why we have him on a month to month tenancy. I appreciate any information you can offer.

  • I am meeting my birth Father today after more than 40 years. Any ideas to break the nervousness?

I haven't seen my birth father since I was 6 months old. This past January, we found each other and I have come to learn that he is just a wondeful man. We are both really excited and yet very nervous. I know it's going to be a tearful event but yet a rewarding one for both of us. He had tried to look for me but he didn't know that I was adopted when I was very small and had a legal name change. I am looking for any ideas you may have to break the nervousness. I have 4 hours left to gather my thoughs. Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Flourescent light problems.?

We have 2 flourescent lights in our home. One is in the bathroom and one is in the kitchen. On occasions, the light in the bathroom will not light up after taking a shower. Today we have very high humidity and now the light in the kitchen won't turn on. When I turn the switch on and off somteimes the light flickers and sometimes it doesn't but it doesn't give me full lighting. I can only get 1 of the the bulbs to light and it is very dense. Is it the humidity that causes this? Someone told me it may be a baffle (?). Is there something I can do to fix this?

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank You

  • obd2 sensor?

My daughter has a 2003 Grand Am and she says that she took it to a place and had them test it on a computer and they said it was an obd2 sensor. Something to do with the catilatick convertor (I apoligize for the spelling). She also indicated when she accelerates that she can only go to 10 m.p.h,. the front end shakes bad and the individual at the place she went said there was a "glowing red" and suspected the converter dropped. Before she invests money into it, I wanted to get some opinions.

Any ideas what it could be? How difficult is to fix? What do you think it would cost to fix?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

  • What is a good poem for for a daughter and birth father who have been seperated for 46 years?

I have searched for him for 5 years and have finally found him. We've been talking on the phone for almost 2 months and we are going to meet on my birthday for our first face-to-face since I was 3 months old. I am going to present him with a watch (for our time lost) and I would like to give him something in a poem form as well and put it in a picture frame.

Unless he has me fooled, he seemed very open to open arms and his wife (not my birth mother) is just a joy.

Even if you can make one up and I will redo it to fit the situation.

I can't get to the store because my daughter has borrowed my car and I have pork cutlets thawed for dinner.

I've made them different ways but would like to try something different.

  • What is an AS400/innovative computer?

What exactly is a AS400 system. I think it may have to do with a mainframe that serves several networks, but I am not sure. I appreciate your input.
