  • linear/series formula using ti-84+?

    I'll try to be short with this....

    I want to know how to make a growing series but for the life of me cannot remember if it can be done on a TI-84+ and if so what the formula would be:

    The idea was to take a value, multiply by .05 then add the value plus the result of .05*value to get my Y value

    In short:

    L1 = X

    L2 = 1.05X (?) [Maybe x+(x*.05)?]

    Now, this is the part that is driving me nuts...

    Can you take L2 results and then have that become the NEW value of x THEN multiply that new value by 5% and so forth and so on....

    Example X =60

    X 60 Y 63

    X 63 Y 66.15

    X 66.15 Y etc...

    I wish to use this for the TI-84+

    Thanks if you can help....

    Reason: I was curious one night about how average income in US would have to grow if inflation went up 5% per year... Probably wrong way to figure inflation but oh well

  • square within a square root gives an absolute value?

    √(4x^2 + 12x + 9)

    √(2x+3)^2

    = 2x+3

    Answer says its |2x+3|

    Shouldn't the square cancel out the square root such as

    √9 = √(3)^2 = 3 obviously its not |3|

    anyone help on this?

  • ordered triple system of equations stumped?

    A) 3x+2y+z = -21

    B) 2x-5y-z =7

    C) 4x+y+5z= -43

    The correct answer via TI-84+ is {-4, -2, -5}

    But I am determined to figure this out by hand but so far the closest answer I have is

    {4 1/13, 2 1/2, 12 3/4}

    Steps I took:

    1.) Added A and B

    A) 3x +2y +z = -21

    B) 2x -5y -z = 7

    to get:

    5x -3y = -14

    2) Multiplied B by 5 then Added B and C

    [B) 5(2x-5y-z =7)]

    C) 4x +y +5z = -43

    B) 10x -25y -5z = 35

    to get

    14x -24y = -8

    3) Took step 1's answer and multiplied by -8 and added to step 2's answer

    [Step 1) [-8(5x -3y = -14)]

    Step 2) 14x -24y = -8

    Step 1) -40x +24y = 114

    to get

    -26x=106

    x=-106/26 or 4 1/13 (previous thought it was 3 5/7 so y and z by my calcs are wrong (2 1/2, 12 3/4)

    Obviously, I am messing up somewhere... I'd appreciate the help, thanks

  • Old Shool Question RE Bills/Jim Kelly?

    I recall one game where Kelly was out on the field and it was either a kick or an interception (assuming the later) and Kelly was the last person between the "interceptor" and 6 points so Kelly tackles his leg and the guys leg just pivots out from underneath him like a rag doll! I think this was against the Raiders, does anyone remember this game???

  • Can backgrounds be placed in MySpace Music pages? (artist)?

    There are more than enough places to get codes from, so please save the "Learn CSS" gibberish. I have yet to see an artist page that has a background. Plenty of manipulation to the layout but nothing in the back. Can someone please explain this? Is it lack of knowledge or is it different than a regular myspace page? And if you would be very nice, please explain where to place the code. I'm sure more people will link to this question as more artists become frustrated looking on how to do this, Thank You.

  • CD's? Mutual Funds? Savings Accounts? interest income help?

    A scenario was brought up where if you had 2 million what would you do? My first thought was to put it in annual CD's and live off the interest (Assuming compounded and after being taxed on it, would be about 80k a year income.) and then Will the rest once a goner. Is this even a good idea though? I mean a bank insures 100k max right? So to be safe, that would mean you'd have to make CD's in over 20 banks of CD's right? (It doesnt matter how many accounts, the max they cover in one bank is 100k?) With the goal that at the end of each year, before the interest is removed, it would have to be less than or equal to 100k right?

    Is there a better way to do this and have your money SAFE?

    Just a concept thought, nothing thats really happening BTW :(

    But geez, wouldn't people with money over 100k in a single bank be concerned?

    Lots of topics to cover I know but thanks to all with thorough answers.

    The formula I came up with was Pe^RT and used something safe, 5% so 2mil/22 banks at 5%

  • What would you do with one million dollars?

    This seems to be asked a lot, but I want to put another thought into it: This isn't money dropped from the sky type. One of your close relatives that you highly respect turns out to be a secret and great investor. He/She passes away and shockingly leaves you and every member of his family one million dollars. This includes children, grandchildren, and funds reserved for anyone that wishes to go to any school they wish, enough to get their Doctrine! Also shockingly, his life appeared modest, almost poverty like. Now knowing this, what would you do with it? I ask this because there was an interesting article I read regarding baby boomer's that are leaving inheritances that may boost economy and wanted to know how people would react to such a scenario.

  • "Stick Built" Construction vs "System Built" Modular?

    I have read numerous sites regarding why Modular is as good or better than construction but I have yet to see a site speaking of why construction is better, or about things to be cautious about when choosing modular. Since modular as the better seems to be covered so heavily on the web, can someone tell me what are some points as to why construction is better than modular?

    Thanks

    (reference to websites covering this appreciated as well)

  • Any idea about this song (vague info)?

    I heard the song on an adult contemporary radio but I dont think its old. The lyrics where basically a song about a guy celebrating his love for his woman. The only line I can remember was, vaguely this:

    paraphrasing? "I get to kiss you and I am so lucky..."

    sorry, wish I could give more info, only heard it once in the car.

    Thanks!

  • Restore or Purchase already restored?

    Interested in looking at the 1950's chevy Bel Air line. I really do not like someone that beefs the car so that they burn a gallon of gas a minute from idling nor do I like cars that have the interior and exterior revamped. Everytime I think I found one with great body work, the seats are switched to something else or they are full of guages that were not originally there. Personally, I want my cars to look as original as possible.

    With that said, should I purchase an old hearty car and restore it back to its originallity or should I just try to find the closest that I can that it already restored. WHICH IS CHEAPER?

    Thanks

    P.S. Don't get me wrong, I respect all peoples ideas for their revamped cars, good for them, just not for me.

  • freeware/shareware FLV converter?

  • Riva FLV Encoder, Everything Blank?

    Have never used this program, and online comments regarding this does not have any resolution, so I'll try here.

    Basically, I open the FLV player and get a small grey picture within a white window with "Display" located in it.

    Also if I open Riva FLV Encoder, all of the fields are blank with no text and no visual "macro" buttons.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

    P.S. Installed/Downloaded from three different sites, same size and same results.

  • Looking for Chobits collection...?

    I know there are many studio versions out there but no certain which ones is the right one to get.

    Looking for a release of Chobits thats of the highest quality as far as video and audio output, contains all of the episodes and has any specials that may have been produced.

    Any extras would be great as well.

    Also original language with English subtitles would be great since this is how I originally saw it and from what I have seen from the english speaking, seems shockingly out of sync.

    Thanks!
