  • What is the distinction between "Islamic" and "Muslim"? Is there a difference?

This is an honest question. People seem to use the word 'muslim' as if it's a race. Yet many people of different races are muslim. So.. I'm confused.

  • How do I get full custody of my son when his father can't be found to subpoena to court?

I have a 22 month old son. I'd like to take my family on vacation. Service Ontario has said that I must have court papers showing full custody if I want to get a passport for him. His father's name is on the birth certificate. He walked out four months after our son was born without a word.

I went to court five times over the course of 15 months, however every time he didn't show up. I was told by my lawyer that there were problems with the subpoena - that he didn't respond to it in writing, that it was delivered to him but signed for by somebody else, that it was delivered to him but nobody signed for it, and finally that he could no longer be located to deliver it.

    They then dropped my case.

    I never saw a judge.

My son turns 2 July 1st and we have had NO contact since mid October 2009.

    What should I do?

  • Does anybody know of any forums that address a parents issues regarding a child with Asperger's Syndrome?

Just discovered my son has Asperger's syndrome. In an emotional upheaval, do you know of any current, active forums online for parents of children with Asperger's?

    Thanks.

  • Should I let my son go to Marine Land tomorrow with a friend of mine?

My son just turned 7 yrs old. Tonight my friend (Sarah) called and invited him to go to Marine Land. She's has two kids of her own that are with their father for the summer. She's taking my other friend (Kim) and her two sons with her as well. She's offered to take just him (one spot in the car), paying his entire way.

I've been friends with these women for years. They're good people.

    The problem;

I am 40 weeks pregnant, due today. If something happened I would not be able to get to him.

Marine Land is a two hour drive away.

My son has a severe peanut allergy; I worry about this.

Sometimes he gets car sick; I worry about this.

What if he gets heat stroke? I worry about this.

What if he gets his arm bitten off by a killer whale? I worry about this.

When I spoke to Sarah yesterday, she told me her car was having electrical problems she couldn't afford to fix.

What if they break down on the highway? I worry about this.

When she called to invite him at around 5pm, it was from a bar. I couldn't hear her from all the noise in the background. She told me she'd call me at 3am and hung up, laughing.

My mother thinks I should let him go. My son begged to go. I called to say he could go at 10pm. She was still at the bar. She said she'd pick him up at 8am.

My son has always wanted to go to Marine Land.

I will never take him, (I'm afraid of fish and find them repulsive).

I've told him he can go, I don't want to be overprotective or mean when it's an excellent opportunity for him to go have some adventures with his friends. On the other hand he's my baby and I'm getting some bad vibes from this and my instinct is yelling at me to hang on to him.

  • Do you know a vet that spays cheap, near Toronto?

I need to get my cat spayed, but we have a very limited budget. I'm looking for a place that won't charge $300, $400, $500 plus "membership fees" to get her spayed.

Does anyone know of a vet or service in Toronto that spays pets cheap? I live in the East York area, but would travel anywhere in the GTA.

  • Step sister wants info on her dad - it's really bad news, how to I break it?

Yesterday I found my step-sister on Facebook. I am overjoyed to have found her! She's been in my heart for years. She's 19, and her biological father was my step dad. She wants to know the dirty details and I think she's old enough. However,

he is not a good man. He's got psychological and addiction problems. He's caused us nothing but hardship and has abused me verbally/emotionally/physically/sexually for decades. What do I say? Do I just tell her everything? She sounds strong but I don't think anybody is THAT strong. It's a lot to deal with.

Alcoholism, cocaine/heroin/meth addiction for a start.

I've written three diff. versions, I just can't send it.

She's such a happy and beautiful girl, what do I say??

  • My 5 yr old hates meat, allergic to nuts- how do I find him protein?

It's been going on since he was a baby, he's always hated meat. Then we found out he was allergic to nuts, AND legumes (peas, beans etc).

I want to get some protein into this boy but I don't want his diet to consist of bologna and MacDonalds cheeseburgers (the only meat he'll eat. Hot dogs he hates too). Does anyone know of a protein source, natural food (no adult protein bars), that could supply the missing nutrients found in meat? (Without nuts)

  • What would be the average price for a 30 second TV commercial?

We am starting up a new business and have to consider how we want to advertise it. We can't find ANY information on the average price of getting airtime for a commercial. We could do the production ourselves (probably..)

    anyone know?

Are also considering radio as a form of advertisement...cost wise, better, or worse?

  • What made you decide to marry your spouse?

Married people only (happily or not), what made you decide that THIS person would be the one you'd marry? How old were you and how long were you together when you married? I'm wondering how people make that leap from 'I love you and want to be with you' to 'lets book a hall and pick invitations'. Guys, why did you propose to THIS girl?

  • Can you spot an online pedophile?

Tonight, for the first time, I've come across one. I am absolutely convinced.

He asked a question about parents and 'bladder control', someone commented that he asked "a lot of questions about bodily fluids". Well I checked, and sure enough, all his questions (no answers) revolved around children and urination. I'm convinced he gets his sexual kicks from hearing scenarios that describe parents/children and 'watersports'.

I feel ill. Really ill. I wish I could get my hands on this guy and strangle him but I can't.

So I ask you, can you spot a pedophile when you meet one online? Do you take the time to check the background questions? Are you telling details about your children that someone might use for sexual gratification?

    God, I want to puke.

  • Why is it that mentally ill people never seem to know they're mentally ill?

How is it that this critical notion is obvious to everyone else, but totally escapes the person themselves?
