  • Need your help on horse names.?

I was given a horse 3 weeks ago. Someone that had her did not feed her and she is starved with ribs showing. She is the sweetest horse. Supposed to be 6 years old with papers through the quarter horse association, but all I know is that the former owner called her Missy. She doesn't seem to answer to it, but she's been put up in a stable for I don't know how long with very little contact with humans I'm sure.

She is now wondering around on 5 acres of land and loving it. I don't like the name Missy. I have a niece, Melissa that we call Missy. I think she deserves a better name. I haven't come up with anything that really appeals to me.

I thought about Miss Julie, Miss Scarlett, and Miss Caroline. These were names that came to mind and sounded kind of like Missy.

I'm open for suggestions. I thought by now that something would really hit me. I'd be glad to hear any of your ideas. I really like names that are different, but I'm stumped. Any ideas would be helpful.

  • Can an employer deny your request to go to a funeral?

I work at a state university in a small office where only 3 of us work. We all know the same crowd of people. A friend of ours passed away a couple of days ago. The supervisor refuses to close the office for an hour to go to the funeral, but says that she will stay at the office this time, but from now on when someone dies that we all know, we will have to take turns going to the funeral. Both me and my coworker think she's full of it. As we both said, no one is going to tell me whose funeral I will or will not attend. If someone I care for dearly dies and it's not my turn, too bad. I don't think so.

Wouldn't you think that would be illegal? I know I would quit my job if I really loved someone and my boss told me that I could not go to their funeral. I would think lawsuit. To tell you whose funeral you can or can't go to seems very cruel and unethical. By the way, we're not being paid while we are at the funeral.

Anyone ever dealt with this problem before?

  • Remember my 9 year old cat, diagnosed with bone cancer and needed leg amputated?

I took her in and got more x-rays and blood work. They couldn't find any more cancer. She was really hurting and dragging her leg. I had to make a decision. I finally had her leg amputated. It was such a hard decision. I thank all of you for your answers.

She came home today. I was going to pick her up to go upstairs. She gave me the dirtiest look and ran up the stairs on her 3 legs. I couldn't believe it. It was like, don't treat me any different than usual. The problem is, my other cats look at her and keep their distance. It's like they know something is different. You think maybe she just smells different from the hospital and surgery?

Other than her friends having nothing to do with her, she's doing great. I'm really glad I had the surgery and I hope I get to enjoy her for many more years. You think my other cats will come around?

  • I've got an injured wild bird. How can I help it?

It looks kind of like a finch. It's about 2 inches long and has a very long little beak. I found one of my cats playing with it. It has no puncture wounds, but missing tail feathers. It hops and can fly a few inches.

Can I feed it regular bird food and wait until it heals? I don't want to just put it outside and let the cats kill it. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?
