  • What's the name of this tree?

I see a lot of these trees around my neighborhood and I would like to add one to my yard...but I don't know what it is. It isn't very tall -- the mature ones look to be around 8-10 feet tall. They have a large circumference around the leafy area, though. The leaves are sort of ficus-looking, dark green, and a little bit shiny. There are yellowish or light-green "berries" on it. The trunk looks sort of ashy and grey (looks like it's peeling). I live in the western U.S, by the way. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

  • Can I cut the tops of my aspen trees?

I have a few aspen trees that are growing really quickly -- they're so tall that they look out of proportion with the rest of my young trees. I've heard that it's not good to "top" trees (cut the top off of them), but is that true for aspens too? What would happen if I did cut the tops down? Thanks for your help!

  • What's the name of this ice cream truck song???

I've been searching all over the internet and can't find the answer anywhere. An ice cream truck came through our neighborhood last weekend and the driver asked if we knew what song his truck was playing (if we can tell him next time we get free ice cream, woo-hoo!). I know I've heard it in a movie before (maybe 70's time frame), and it's just a piano piece with no words. It's not the one from Chariots of Fire...it starts off slow and then becomes a little more upbeat...but not your typical kiddie ice cream truck song. I don't even care about the free ice cream, I just want to figure it out because it's stuck in my head and driving me insane! Anybody have any idea what it could be?

  • Would You Eat Laboratory-Grown Meat?

I already asked this question, but realized that I posted it in the wrong category...so I wanted to try again and see if the response is any different.

I read an article that said some European researchers (can't remember which country) had successfully grown fish in a laboratory and they're working on pork, ground beef and chicken nuggets. The author of the article suggests that we may have no need for slaughterhouses in the future and may be able to put this part of our barbaric past behind us, as we did with slavery. How do you feel about this? For you die-hard carnivores, does the thought of eating laboratory-grown meat bother you? Vegetarians, would you start eating meat again if it didn't involve the slaughter of animals, or do you not even crave the taste of meat? With laboratory meat, they could apparently get rid of risks such as salmonella, mad cow, e. coli and bird flu...does that make you feel any differently?

  • Where should I have my digital photos printed?

I don't know what service to use, and I don't want to print them myself. I've checked out various websites and it looks like Sam's Club is the least expensive, followed by Wal Mart. But is the quality any good? Any opinion about other photo-finishing websites like Snapfish or Shutterfly?

  • I have a question about saving Kingdom Hearts 2?

I gave my son Kingdom Hearts 2 for his PS2 along with a 64 MB memory card today, and when he gets to a "save point" to try and save the game a message pops up saying that it can't be done because the game requires at least 90 KB of free space. The card is clear, no other games saved on it, and we've checked to make sure it's inserted correctly. I tried to call the customer service number, but of course they're closed for the day. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

  • Why doesn't my dog recognize his name when he hears it on TV? Or respond to other dogs barking on TV?

It just seems strange that he's so responsive when a live voice is calling his name and he gets all excited when he hears other dogs in the neighborhood barking, but when he hears these sounds coming from the television (he has a very common dog name, so it's said on TV quite a bit) he doesn't give them any notice at all. Can anyone explain this, and does your dog do the same thing? Thanks!

  • My son would like a rat for his birthday-any advice on what types of things to consider when looking for one?

I bought him a rat last year, but we had to take it back to the pet shop because it was biting so much. Should we avoid pet shops and go to a breeder? Should we get a baby rat or one that's a little bit older? Boy or girl? How can we make it comfortable when first bringing it home so that it's not freaked out too much? I'd really appreciate any advice you experienced rat-handlers could give.
