  • Baseball project for school.need help with thinking of players to include!?

at my very boring high school, packed with blonde cheerleaders, I am doing a decade project, where we have to pick a decade and pick a topic (consumer, politics, music, fashion, sports, etc.) and I knew right away I was going to chose sports.I chose to focus more on baseball, since I know a helluva lot about the game's players and history than any other sport. Anyway, I picked the 60's (wish I coulda done the 20's cuz I love learning about Lou Gehrig). I got most of the stuff:how the NL dominated pitching (Koufax, Gibson, Marichal), Roger Maris hitting homer number 61;but I need more. So I thought I would write about the players who were rookies (who became HOF'ers), and players who were retiring (who became HOF'ers) during that time. Here's what I got:

    ROOKIES IN 60'S:

    Carl Yastrzemski (1961)

    Reggie Jackson (1967)

    Johnny Bench (1967)

    Juan Marichal (1960)

    Lou Brock (1961)

    RETIRED IN 60'S

    Ted Williams (1960)

    Mickey Mantle (1968)

    Yogi Berra (1965)

What I want to do with that info is add more. Can ya help me out with any of those two, either players who were rookies (who became HOF'ers) or players who were retiring (who became HOF'ers) in the 60's decade? Thanks you so much.

  • Baseball fans:You guys going to watch Michael Phelps go for his 8th gold tonight in the Olympics?

I'm starting to like the Olympics more than ever.Main reason is because there's always something on weather it's 1pm or 2 in the morning, since it's in Beijing. You got the Team USA basketball team,"Redeem Team",doing better than ever. Then there's Nastia Liukin of the US who got Gold for Gymnastics 2 days ago, putting on a truly amazing performance. But the best and most exciting event I've seen is Michael Phelps, about to break Mark Spitz's record for most gold in a Olympics (tied it last night with 7).

Are you gonna watch him (try to) break the record tonight?

For those of you who watched last night, did you see him win by ONLY 0.01 OF A SECOND!! omg i thought he lost for a second, when he won i was in total shock! What you guys thing about that win?

  • I bought a Beckett's Price Guide at the store yesterday. Can someone explain this to me..

I was very entertained by reading this, seeing how much Jackie Robinson,Babe Ruth,Roberto Clemente and many other older cards cost.So I decided to look to see how much my Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card may cost, and what it's listed in there.I saw there were 2 columns, the HI and LO columns, but that's what I'm confused about. In the first column it shows $15.00 and $40.00 in the other one.Is this telling me that's what it's really worth?Especially for his rookie card,c'mon! Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks!

  • which former NFL player/current broadcaster-analyst does this sound like..?

Which broadcaster/analyst's personality sounds like this:

"if you ask him what time it is,he'll tell you how a watch works."

I read that online once and that's how someone described his personality, but I couldn't remember who it was. I want to say it was Deion Sanders, but I'm not positive.Who do you think that sounds like?

  • Do the Angels have a weakness?

Seriously. They can hit, steal, play very good defense, they have an amazing closer, one of the best starting rotations.Plus they can get timely hits, like the ones that came last night in the 8th when they got 3 runs and ended up winning the game.I don't think I've seen any signs of weaknesses out of this team.Especially out of their starters, they are able to go deep into games. What do you think?Any weaknesses for this team?
