Good morning / afternoon / evening / whatever. My name is Ashley Ra-- (sound of cars crashing outside). Huh. That was odd. Anywho, I am 21 years old and live in Lakeland, FL ... at least until they find the bodies (chuckle). I have a variety of interests, which include books, technology, anime, art, sword-swallowing, and llama leaping. Go ahead and chat with me if you're interested. I promise not to bite.
Would it be legal to accept tips for copyrighted designs?
So I used to work at a theme park, where I did design based off of kid's handprints (like making them into a bird, dinosaur, etc.). Unlike the portrait artists, I was told I wasn't allowed to do these designs outside of work, since they are copyrighted. However, I was wondering if it would be acceptable legally, to take handprints and make designs from them (like at a street fair), but just accept tips for them? That way, I wouldn't be charging anything for them, and whoever wants to tip me can decide on how much. Would that still be against copyright laws?
1 AnswerLaw & Legal7 years agoAre you old enough to remember dial-up internet?
Ah, I remember firing up Windows 98, trying to connect to the Internet using AOL. I loved the weird, demon-like sounds the modem used to make. And then the connection would fail like 75% of the time, and when I finally got on, my mom would have to make an 'extremely important' phone call, and I had to get off.
Good times. :)

Do you think Lionel is too connected to the singer or the model train company?
Do you like Perri for a girl? Which spelling: Perry, Perri, Perrie, Peri, etc?

I always thought this would be a nice name for a girl. Do you think people could get past the Greek mythology connection?
(I'm not expecting, BTW.)
7 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoGeorge W. Bush showed up in my dream?
(I needed some sort of more interesting title than 'What does my dream mean?' :P)
This is a dream I had last night. I was sitting on the front porch at my house, where some event (like a yard sale) was going on. There were two older men in suits just standing around. I was suspicious of them, so I asked to see their ID. One of the guys got agitated, and said 'Don't you know who I am?' in a really haughty voice. But he handed over an ID that said, 'George W. Bush, winner of the 53rd election of the United States', although (A) he really didn't look like Bush, and (B) Bush was the 43rd prez.
ANYWAY, the media got wind that he was at my house, and suddenly there's like reporters EVERYWHERE. So Bush and the other guy have to camp out at my house to avoid all the media, who are trying to get inside the house. I check out the situation on my computer, and there's information about me and my family online and people are saying all sorts of nasty things.
At that point, I woke up. What a weird dream! Wonder what it means?
3 AnswersDream Interpretation9 years agoWhat is the worst name you've ever heard?
Have you ever heard of a name that made you go, 'Ohmyfrootloops, there should be a law against that"?
I once saw a news story where this little girl had been shackled with this monstrosity: 'Zyiahlexxuss' or something like that. If you named your baby something that makes the news, you probably need your head examined.
12 AnswersBaby Names9 years agoWhat is up with this girl?
Recently, the supervisor at the sandwich shop where I work noticed me drawing in my sketchbook and asked me if I would draw her a picture to send to her boyfriend in Iraq, if she paid me. I said, sure, so she gave me the specifications, and a week and a half later, I gave it to her. She loved it, said it was great, blah blah blah, and I said 'Thanks, is twenty dollars, okay?'
She was like 'Sure' and gave me the money the next day.
Fast foward to a few days ago. A coworker and I were talking and she mentioned that she really liked my art, and said I should sell more artwork. Another nearby coworker (who's a close friend of the supervisor who I did the picture for) yelled out 'YOU AIN'T GONNA GET ANY BUSINESS IF YOU CHARGE TOO MUCH FOR YOUR PICTURES!
Dumbfounded, I said, 'Excuse me?'
She said, 'Yeah, you charged (supervisor's name) too much for that picture you did for her.' (I thought $20 was an acceptable price for the amount of work that went into it, and she agreed to it as well)
I said to her, 'Well, if (supervisor's name) thought my price was too high, she should've said something'.
During this whole conversation, said supervisor was standing nearby, but said nothing.
I'm really POed, because she tells me that she loved the picture, and then turns around and gossips to her loudmouthed friend that she thinks the price was too high. What's up with her behavior?
6 AnswersEtiquette10 years agoLooking for Hawaiian surname with specific meaning?
I'm writing a story where the main character is a teenage girl who's a Japanese-American (Japanese mother, Hawaiian father) who moves to a small town in Alabama, and discovers she has amazing powers (it's still in the planning stages). I like my character's names to have a meaning relating to their powers (for example, another girl who has wind powers will be named Skylar Crestmere. Get it?) I have her Japanese name, but I would like a Hawaiian surname that relates to music (since her power is music/sound). Something that has 'sound' 'music' 'singer' or 'song' in it? I appreciate any help.

4 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs anyone else as sick of Christmas songs as I am?
Maybe it's because I work two jobs in retail, and both places have been playing Christmas songs like two weeks before Thanksgiving, but I swear to God: If I hear 'Santa Baby, I've been an awful good girl' in a stupid baby voice ONE MORE TIME, I'm going to punch something.

17 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat was your first day of kindergarten like?
All of our parents dressed us up nicely. All the boys wore ties, and all the girls wore frilly dresses. I remember my teacher had a long skirt, and we read 'Goodnight Moon'. Then the girl next to me threw up. I guess she was nervous.
So, how was your first day of kindergarten? (If you can remember it.)

13 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoTell me the name and artist of this late 90's swing song?
I heard this song on a CD back in 2001 or so, and played it over and over until I memorized the lyrics. I think the name of the song is 'Planet Jive', but I'm not sure. I also would like the artist, if anyone knows. Here's the lyrics:
Greetings, people of Earth! It's time to swing!
I come from Planet Jive, where the music's always live,
And the people like to dance away their blues.
So if you're feeling down, turn your rocket ship around,
Planet Jive is the only place to cruise (?)
I come from city Bop, where the music's always hot,
And the president wears a zoot suit on TV.
There are swing clubs in every corner, they are owned by Jackie Horner,
People say what a cool boy is he.
(chorus)
Oh how they adore us when we wear our blue fedoras
Our zoot suits shining (forgot the rest of the line)
As we saunted through the street with our wingtips on our feet,
(Forgot this line)
Gather around now! Come on everybody, roll on!
Now this cat named Jackie Horner, the press will try to warn ya,
They say he was a gangster from the start (gunshot sounds)
But he threw out all the thugs and he put a stop to drugs
He's a dancer who's got livin' in his heart (?)
Now he went on a vacation, to Federation Station,
And opened up the biggest club of all.
Hep cats came from Mars and Venus, now the universe is swingin'
At the interplanetary jump-jive ball.
(chorus)
...
There's more to the song, but I can't remember the rest. Can anyone help me out?

17 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat was your first job ever?
Pretty self-explanatory.
My very first job was at a movie theater (which is now out of business). I ran the concession stand and cleaned the theaters. They gave me like, no training whatsoever, and stuck me at the ticket booth the day X-Men 3 opened. THAT was fun. No wonder I lasted only two weeks.
