  • Am I too late to give something up for Lent?

I'm not a Catholic, I'm Baptist and usually my church doesn't celebrate Lent. But I was figuring that it would still be spiritually beneficial to still observe it. Unfortunately, I hadn't really given it much thought until today, and I also realized that Ash Wednesday was yesterday. It just feels tainted that I wouldn't be going the full 46 days of Lent. Should I still give it a shot?

  • Do I still have a chance with her?

About two months ago, I had asked this girl out in my homeroom that I really liked. Most of my friends were constantly on me about just asking her, and I did. It was at a football game and I went apart from our group of friends and I asked her out. She said no, but was nice about it and said she still wanted to hangout.

I think because of my friends and the fact that she had only started going to my school since the start of this year, I had rushed it and ruined my chance. We still talk and are still friends, I just wanted to see if I might still have a chance in the future. I realize now that I'm lucky I didn't end up ruining what we already had by pushing the envelope, I won't be doing that again soon. But seeing as I will be seeing her regularly for the next three and a half years, I thought there might be something in the future.

  • Opinions on greatest/most influential countries in history?

I recently saw an article about the "top ten greatest countries in history" and I wonder what other people think. Its a tough question to answer, but if you could make a list, with most influential meaning their influence during their respective time period (e.g. Ancient Rome and Greece shouldn't be number one because they set up western civilization/democracy for the United States) who would you put on it? (Use the name of the country during its peak or the name of the country over the span of time it was "at its best" so to speak)

Mine would be something like this:

    1. Ancient Greece

    2. Sumerian civilization

    3. Ancient China/present day China

    4. Ottoman Empire

    5. United Kingdom/England (Renaissance onwards)

    6. Spain (colonization era)

    7. Ancient Egypt

    8. United States (Especially 20th century)

    9. Germany (World Wars, industrial giant)

    10. Russia/Soviet Union (posed as the only competitor to the US after WW2. Greatly influenced Eastern Europe. Major player in world politics prior to collapse of Soviet Union. BRIC)

I'm American, and I didn't consider inventions of individuals from specific countries. I obviously missed some, the list is only ten countries long. I appreciate opinions.

  • Need help with a good PS3 ID?

I wanted to make my ID funny since my old one was pretty lame, so I decided to make fun of myself and use "cracker" in the name. Any good ideas using cracker?

  • Need a creative PS3 ID name?

I got a PS3 recently with a lame ID, so I decided I want to make a new one. I have the basis for the new name. There was a jerk I was scrimmaging in basketball the other day, and he wore a bandana that everyone on my team made fun of him for. Everyone called him "Captain America" or "Captain America F*g". So I wanted to make an ID using that. For all you peacekeepers, I can make an obscure joke about him on PS3, or I could have punched him in face. Take your pick.

  • How do I refurbish my Christian life?

This is a pretty difficult question to word, so I did my best. What I'm trying to say is that I've gone to church fairly regularly since I was a small child, but now I seem to need a refresher course on what it truely means to serve God. I haven't forgotten everything, but I just need help being put back on the righ track. Any help with what scripture to read or what to do next would be appreciated.

  • Was "The Hurt Locker" good?

I watched the Hurt Locker recently, (yeah, I was a little behind in watching it.) and I was curious what other people thought of the movie. I got mixed reviews from people. Some said it was an amazing movie and a pleasure to watch. Others have told me that the inaccuracies of real world combat dampened the quality of the movie. What did you guys think of the movie? I thought the cinematic aspect was good, and the movie was overall very well made. I think that some people take the accuracy of the movie to seriously. How often does Hollywood get it right anyway? So did you like it?

  • Question about War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy?

I'm currently learning how to speak Russian, and one of my goals is to be able to read War and Peace in Russian. My question is, should I read the book in English first, to get a grasp of the story, or should I wait and read it first in Russian? I realize that some books lose their value when translated into other languages and was wondering if this was the case for this book. Thanks for all answers in advance.

  • Where should I apply for college?

I just started school this last Monday, and realized I should start thinking about where I wanted to go to college. I looked at Collegeboard.org and none of the results from my search seemed to fit my wants. I'm interested in becoming an architect, and possibly studying engineering. I would prefer that it was in an urban or suburban area on the east coast and it has Baseball and basketball programs (Division I would be nice). If you had attended a college with at least some of these characteristics I would appreciate an answer.

  • What's up with my kittens?

My family recently adopted two feral kittens from my mom's friend and they've been acting like normal kittens. Over the last two days, one of the kittens meows and even cries at the bottom of our stairs and stops when someone goes over to her. Also, the person who we adopted the kittens from found them around her barn and she also took in four other kittens. Two of them have died mysteriously (my mom's friend said they didn't act weird or anything). I am concerned that if what's wrong with those kittens might also be wrong with mine, although we had recently brought them to the vet and he didn't notice anything out of place.

I know I didn't provide much information, but it's all I've got. Thanks for any insight.
