1) in genesis chapter 1 line 14 it says "And God said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years". In this verse the "firmament" which is also cited as heaven, is the air which wraps around our planet which we now know as the atmosphere and the lights which we know are the stars prompt the first question.

Why did he placed all the stars in the universe inside our atmosphere?

2) My second question is a little easier.

Why are there 2 different accounts of the creation myth in the bible?

let’s say you were in charge of protecting a group of children in a village and one day a barbaric tribe declared they would kill all those not born into their tribe and they attacked your village, mercilessly slaughtering every man woman and child in their path but you found a safe place to hide that they wouldn’t think to look. So you hide yourself and all the children there and as everyone outside begins screaming as they are hacked up it causes one of the infants in your care to begin crying. You know that if the infant continues crying they will find and kill everyone, you now have the choice to either smother the infant and save the rest of the children; or risk the barbarians finding and killing everyone, which is the morally right choice and why?

I asked this in regular old society & culture section and got bland answers, i asked again in religion and spirituality and got some more colorful albeit similar answers so i wonder what the people in this section are gonna say?...

ok so i always see slander against illegal immigrants but i have a serious question to ask about this.

first off i really don't care about your legal status since i'm one of those nut jobs that think the US, Mexico, and Canada should activate their wonder triplet power to take the form, shape, and stance of the worlds first super nation.

secondly i have nothing against most immigrants and actually enjoy their company.

but the ones that refuse to learn the language native to the area especially when they don't teach it to their children i have a problem with because i view it as disrespectful to the entire area to try and force others to learn their language to make things easier on themselves

so my question is if it is politically correct for you to learn the language of a country or area that you are visiting or immigrating to, why is it politically incorrect to tell people to learn your language when they have already moved into your country or area?

i'm not saying that they have to speak the areas native language all the time but when in mixed company or at a work place it should be a given that you would do it out of respect and to not seem like an a**hole to those around you.

ok so i saw a question on Y!A this morning that all be it was a troll question but actually got me thinking about something i hadn't really thought to ask yet.

Christians view the bible as the word of god or the lessons or wisdom/knowledge of god correct? please say which one you interpret it as so i know how you feel about the subject.

If Christians do view it as such then why do so many act as if it is a history book or a literal statement of god?

note atheists without an insightful answer or trolls will be ignored i want an actual serious answer to this.

I am a vet, the first time i got on line was in 99.

I was destroyed and stopped using the net in late 01 until about 5years ago.

How about the people who report you because they asked a dumb question and you told them it was?

Best reason i think i've been reported for is a violation of the Canadian Y!A community guidelines, yes they have a different set of guidelines you have to follow when you answer a question posted by someone in Canada.

What makes you mad about Y!A and what do you think should be done to fix it?

What if the world did come to an end in 2012? whether it is or is not is not up for debate. but what if the world did end on 2012?
