Considering the Bohr models of Unununium (Uuu) and Unnilennium (Mt), are the boiling points deducible?
currently the boiling points of these transition metals are unknown, but if we examine their Bohr models and correlate their unique structures, combined with what we know of their energy levels, is it possible to create a computation for their boiling points?

8 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoOffice Manager issues. Was she the right choice for the job?
The new office manager just turned 40. This is her first job--she never even worked at a fast food joint while she was in high school. She's been promoted after working in the office for two years. She calls for a meeting every week or two to discuss how her plans are going, then when she realizes her plans aren't good plans, she changes them or changes her mind about the result she wanted. This has been going on for about three months. The owner used to handle the "people" part of the business, but he's discovered that he has no interest in that part of office. He's more or less washed his hands of employee issues, and since he refuses to get involved, he doesn't know that his best people are looking for other jobs. I think there must be some way to make him understand that his Office Manager is about to wreck his business. Any ideas?

1 AnswerOther - Computers1 decade agoThis poem took me 21 years to write.... do you like it?
this is about a trip I took in 1986.
"Russian River"
Drive for miles
desolatioin
sudden bursts of forest
road goes on
Black volcanic sand
of the inlet
horror stories abound
drowned in your history
Leave the salty air
heading inland
snakin through canopies
of ancient trees
Humanity drifts away
mottled sunshafts play
reflections dance on the windows
as we venture on
The feet of the mountains
wear socks of lush pine
in deepening wilderness
where moose and grizzlies dine
Over lands the glaciers ruled
for centuries, we pass
solitary figures dumbstruck by
mountaintops with cliffs like glass
Finally valleys draw us down
as we near our destination
moored in quiet contemplation
we stare at the panorama ahead
The smallness of humankind
becomes evident below
when beneath broken rock cliffs
She demurs in a magical flow

7 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoanother poem.... for someone lost.?
Blank bleak void where once
the memory of you lived
What smile? Pretty crooked teeth,
perhaps, with eyes of blue
or brown or black at dawn
Lithe nimble scathing wit or
dull plodding talk of you
with no time to stop
for latest news from me
Or selfless interest in
my life and wants granting
all my desires, endlessly...
Memories seize me though
the effort to pulverize
each and every incredible
perfect part of you becomes
with time
a quicker calmer effort
though the pain never dies
nor the glint in your blue eyes.
14 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoMy new poem. what do you think?
A ransom has been paid, so this poem is "extra."
What can I take?
Thre's no TV ad
to help my heart
stop feeling bad
If I could find
one little pill
would meds relieve
my loving mill?
The turning gears
keep creating lines
for my angel
from ripened vines
But is my will
to love her too strong?
No pill? Give one
more dose of song.
I've been writing poems for more than twenty years.... my method has ALWAYS been to be perfect before a word goes on paper. but with this one, because I constrained myself with syllables and tried to make it as absolutely short as possible, the page is full of cross-outs and revisions.... and I'm still not sure that the two ideas are separate and convergent.... thanks for your input.

1. will the polar bears be California dreamin'--or will the tree die on the dark side of the moon?
2. who will be mentioned in a "do you remember...." question? e.g., crappo was memorialized last night.... (RIP, crappo. no one mentioned Princess Freestar)
3. will the Brits be speaking to each other? (I hope so!)
4. will the Germans be speaking to each other? (wtf goes on there I have NO idea!)
5. how many newbies will join the club?
6. how many newbies will have disappeared?

13 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoMy other serious poem. Does it work?
What curse invoked upon me
What damage I have done
What anger swells and divides
me from her?
This world, this horrid peace
without her voice
This desolate existence
with only the reminder
of her Mona Lisa smile
Haunted
Cursed
Wishing for joy and laughter
Hoping my curiosity
hasn't broken the seal
on some forbidden
or half-hidden
treasure
for pleasure
I searched
and found
her unspoken beauty
her delicate balance
transposed
against my carnivorous hedonism
my impetuous nature
to discover
uncover
her secret
And just as her beauty
lit my eyes ablaze
the curse unleashed
imprisoning me
beyond hope
in the fire
of my dark desire
8 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoMy first serious poem.... what do you think?
Away the Night
away the rain
awake the Sun
awake my pain
Remember her in my dreams
and in every days' moments
One perfect glimpse--and now
glaringly, achingly, my passsion foments
Toward what end--what cliff
my desire aims to fall
I care not: freed from chains
of reality my heart shreds all
Time, thou evil separator, Go!
My Darling kept by your endless pulse
in a prison I cannot enter
thou infinite minutes (without her) doth I repulse
Sweetest, break the hold of fear
and enter me with doubt cast aside
My arms await patiently, emptily
while time (fear) ticks (grips), my passion's denied
Where is she tonight?
Away! cold, lonesome Rain
Awake! bright, cheering Sun
Await, heart, the end of pain.
Await, time, the end of your reign.
await.... await.... I weaken--
await.... await.... my endless refrain.

It's been raining here for days, and I have plywood sheets in contact with the wet ground. the moisture has begun to cause the plywood sheets to come apart. I have a plentiful supply of linseed oil, but if there's a better product to use on wet plywood I'll use it.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoNOT a math genius, can you please help with a simple equation?
I'm building a shed. on top I'm going to have a little "crow's nest" but I don't know the length for the rafters.
the roof pitch is such that a rafter is 3' 6-1/4" to cover a distance of 3' 6". A rafter of 4' 1-1/8" covers 4'. A distance of 5' takes a rafter length of 5' 2-7/8"
the distance I'm covering with my crow's nest is only 10-3/4" and I need the rafter length for that distance based on the measurements above. I have brackets that the rafters slide into, and they cover the rest of the rafter length to give my roof appreciable pitch (in case you were wondering!). that's why the answer should actually be LESS than the distace I'm covering.
my little brain comes up wih an answer of 7-5/16".

when does zoning become an issue? what if I don't LIVE in the house, but use it only for business purposes--but the building is a HOUSE. I'm not changing it in any way except that I'm selling goods from it.... it's Columbus Day, so the gov't is shut down and I can't ask them.

6 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoOn a TV picture tube, the copper wire is wrapped around two pieces of metal. What is the metal?
The two pieces of metal join together to make a "cone." I can't find the composition of those two metal pieces. Are they zinc? are they a nickel alloy? I've taken apart about fifteen TVs now, and though all the cones have the same color, some of the cones are magnetic and some are not.... the latest tv (sanyo, 2004) is HIGHLY magnetic, but the one before that (RCA, circa 1985) was not. can anyone help? Thanks!
