4 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agodoes anyone make money on blogger?

I'm just curious...
I'm a student and I was wondering if I could maybe blog for a part-time job, for maybe 1 hour a day, and hopefully earn $10 a day if it was a really good blog.

3 AnswersGoogle1 decade agoPEOPLE WITH CONTACTS HELP!!!!!?
ok
I just got contacts and I love them to pieces; however, for the improvement that I get in seeing long, I can't see words as well. I can still read, but my old pair of glasses (with the old prescription) is easier to read with than my new contacts! I was wondering if this is normal, or if it is a problem that results from a wrong prescription.
I live in Canada so going to an eye doctor is absolutely free. I used to go to this older guy who was really good, but I moved to one near my house, and I noticed he did things a bit quicker.
I was wondering if people who need contacts to see distances could tell me if this is normal or if the guy gave me the wrong prescription
just answer: is it easier for you to read with or w/o your contacts and what should I do?
BTW I love the Canadian medical system! BTW it's interesting that we pay almost 1/2 of what Americans pay on a per capita basis but get everything covered, and though the guy I went to doesn't seem that great the old guy, who I can still visit, is a professional surgeon who any Canadian, no matter how rich or poor, can go to see! for free! (though it's paid through taxes)
2 AnswersOptical1 decade agoContacts or Glasses? which should I choose?
Hey!
I'm trying to decide whether, after my impending eye-doctors appointment, I should get a new pair of glasses, or if I should switch to contacts. I'm sort of leaning towards contacts, but I'd just like an idea of what people think so I can make a better decision (they might point things out).
I've included photos of me from the front, front smiling, and side with and w/out glasses.
Please voice your opinion.
And ladies, I'm 16 and I was just wondering what I'd be rated (in appearance) out of 10. I'm not self-conscious, just curious and thought I'd throw it into the contacts/glasses question. (scale being: 1 ugly 5moderate 7semi-handsome 8handsome 10 really good for an average guy aged 16)

3 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoHow's this for a short story plot?
Sup? thank-you to everyone who is reading this question! I'm in the process of formulating a short story and was wondering what you guys might think about the idea, feel free to critique it, but don't steal it -please.
A pregnant woman has realized she is about to give birth and is walking to a hospital, which requires going over a bridge. She grew up in poverty, had no real family/friend connections and is only pregnant because she was raped. After this she cut off all connections with males -the gender that raped her cannot be trusted in her eyes.
The second character is a fundamentalist christian who is on his way home, also going over the bridge. His opinion of muslims is that of someone who grew up on FOX news (and i use the word news VERY loosely). He hates them and essentially think's they are all terrorists.
The third character is a muslim immigrant, he left afganistan because of the taliban and is far from being a terrorist (like the overwhelming majority of the muslim population). He is a decent human being but is angry because of the prejudice that North American society imposes on him -unfairly, because he will never become a terrorist (suicide and that includes suicide bombings, is actually a sin in the Qur'ran, but the crazy muhlahs have misread the Qur'ran in many poor developing muslim nations). He's on his way to volunteer at a soup kitchen.
As all three are crossing, the woman, who postphoned getting to the hospital, begins having contractions, both characters noticed she was barely holding on to the railing and standing.
then the bridge breaks.
essentially what happens is the character hold on, have to learn to trust each other -all characters have reason to automatically hate one or more of the others- but the need for survival brings their unity as human beings trying to live in a dangerous world together saves them. The woman regains her faith in men, the muslim in the goodwill of christians and the christian in the humanity of muslims.
I will also have the christian and muslim repeat phrases from their respective religious books to show how similiar christianity and islam are (if you find this offensive TFB, both religions come from abhraham islam is only radical because it's young, when it matures it will become like modern day christianity -it already has in many countries).
essentially i try to deal with the religious prejudice of north american society....
I'm not a muslim btw if anyone was wondering I'm a VERY VERY VERY secular christian leaning person in my beleifs.
thnx

4 AnswersCameras1 decade agoRepublican, why do you personally hate obama so much?
i know not all republicans do, that need not be stated, but honestly,
You an disagree with him, but some of the things I've seen posted reflect a personal vendetta! he
a)is not an arab or muslim (just to clear that up -McCain even said so)
b) has appointed republicans to his cabinet -something mccain would not have done and it shows respect for the democratic process -he cares and wants to ensure repulican 'ideals' are represented in his government because people voted for them
c) he has given hope to and inspired millions, these are 2 things which move nations forwards -and he's given it to America!
d) he's not a communist or a socialist, some of his policies seem left wing but if you stand his policies to that of, say, the USSR, anyone with more than 30% of their brain can see he's no communist or socialist
e) he has given hope to one of the poorest minorities in America that they can make something of themselves, that the american dream can still be acheived!
f) he's a smart and eloqouent speaker
g) he's a decent guy
I just don't get it Obama is so amazing but to personally hate him, as some reps on this site seem to, is not understandable!
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agocan tea be made while water is being boiled?
I like to put unboiled water into a pot, but it on the stove and then boil the water with the tea. I find it makes a strong cup and like it very much. However, someone recently told me not to make tea this way. Is there a good reason, as in this diminishing the health benefits of the tea, or do they simply not know what they're talking about?

I'm considering buying a linux-acer-aspire one but wanted to know what programs run on linux first. I know linux boasts its opensoftware things, but does that mean apple and microsoft programs are capable or not capable of running on it. I want to run itunes, maybe safari, have access to the itunes store (for applications mainly). Is this possible? or does linux not allow these programs to run?

I have an old computer which soon will need to be replaced because its getting old and functioning well less and less. 5 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoSwollen bump on the neck?
I have felt a little bump on the neck on the left side of my neck I don't think that it's cancer because I felt it in March and it is the exact same size as it was before, I have no weakness or any other symptoms pointing towards cancer, which I would most likely have given how the location runs near a crap-load of nerves, veins and other crap. It is located only slightly lower than my ear lobe and is around 2 centimeters from the cervical section of my spine to the left. I feel perfectly healthy; my blood pressure, heart rate all of that are normal except for this. I'm also 15 and rarely get sick suggesting a fully functional immune system lowering the likelihood of cancer. I was wondering if it was a possibly swollen lymph node causing me to have this. It doesn't hurt or anything so I think that it's ok and don't think that i should worry about it. Other than asking a doctor (which i will so don't bother telling me this, i live in canada it's free!)
I also have postural hypotension (i get dizzy if i quickly stand up after lying down for a prolonged period of time) but i don't think its related i'm just very sensitive about my blood glucose levels and feel like crap if they get really lower and my functionality plummets.
If neccessary here are my vital statistics.
Weight: 136 lbs
Height: 5'8 and 1/3 of an inch
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Any explanations I feel ok and it hasn't changed so i don't think that I have anything to worry about but I'm curious.
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoHow/ Why is America called the "land of the free"?
HI All! I live in Canada (hockey is my god) and have always heard the reference to America as the land of the free and have always been perplexed by this. I of course mean no offense to any Americans, but when this statement is well..stated... it makes it seem as though America is either the only free nation on the planet or the most free. In both cases however this is grossly incorrect (once again no offense intended, America is an incredible country though i prefer my own personally, well don't we all?) but it is in no way more free than any country. Can anyone explain why this is to me or give more evidence so that I can refine my opinion. Here is the major facts I am operating on in saying that America is by no means the "free-est" nation on the planet (no offense once again).
the 2000 election was tampered with the winner lost while the loser won.
the country is stuck in a war that a majority of the population clearly cried out to stop in the 2006 mid term election.
the 'liberal media" is run my capitalist corporations (a corporation is after all capitalist) and anyone who has ever heard ann coulter or a lot of Fox can't exactly attest to its blanket liberalism.
there are only two parties! a two party democracy doesn't fit the definition of democracy seeing how there are hundreds of ideologies and the two parties are both right wing to some degree (by canadian-european standards that is)
canada and european countries have the exact same rights in our constitution as americans except that we don't have patriot acts taking them away when ever the government feels like doing so.
Canada and euro countries have many parties. (Canada has over 15) with 5 major political parties.
Canadian and european countries have higher qualities of living (well eastern european that is).
Way less lobbyists, way less lobbyists in canada and the EU
Free healthcare in canada and EU so every family has the economic freedom to get through rough patches healthwise + healthcare costs range from being 1/2 to a third of the US even though everyone is treated.
America does not have a media which is unbiased when compared to most other first world countries (by comparison that is, every media is biased to some extent, that's inevitable)
we don't go calling people unpatriotic if they're communist or have different ideologies (freedom of belief; like it or not communists have a right to say what they believe as does everyone else so long as they don't slander or infringe the rights of the other).
We use the metric system
Well sorry about that last one though i would be pleased if anyone would bother telling me why the US uses the imperial system over the simple and logical metric.
Well thanks! And I also would like to ask for no insulting or ultra-partisan responses like the sooooooooooooooooooooooooo many others i have seen for politics answers here. I mean no offense if people who are very liberal or left or conservative can't give an answer without becoming bitter it is fair to say that the validity of their opinion should be called into question since nobody wants to live an a bitter world. Thank-you once again! And for the las time no offense is intended to anyone no who/what/where/how they are or their ideology.
2 AnswersGeography1 decade agoHelp with anti evolutionist religion teacher!!!?
Hi, I have a religion teacher who in class today (i live in canada) told us that god created humans and that "humans don't come from apes and gorillas" now she obviously has not an ounce of intelligence if she is stupid enough to teach religion and realize that the point of that story in the bible was to provide a moral lesson and not a historical/scientific lesson. Tomorrow I intend to debate her on this and kick some stupid fundamentalist *ss but in order to assure I properly wipe the walls with her and prevent my classmates from believing the utter bs she expects of to complacently swallow. I go to a catholic school and she is the only religion teacher I have who is this profoundly incompetent in fact after I said this she indirectly called me an atheist (which I am not) by saying "Catholics believe god created humans and not science" while she said this she nodded her head towards me. How do I deal with stupidity like this and prevent this uneducated woman from trying to educate people in mythological fallacies? thanks!
