  • What does the National Plumbing Code require for installing a main potable water supply line for a home?

I am installing an underground water line to provide water to lawn hydrants in a few places on my farm with plans to connect the end to a home in the future. I have some unusual considerations. My street pressure is 200-250psi and I am running the pipe roughly 1000 feet. It also gains about 100feet in elevation. I plan to run the full street pressure in the line and use individual pressure reducers at each hydrant along the run. Any helpful advice appreciated!

Please don t tell me to hire a plumber. That would not be helpful because I am not going to do that.

  • What happens if a stray debit posts to my checking account after it's closed?

When Bank of America sold me to First Community Bank, I was not happy, and decided to take my business elsewhere. I closed the FCB account and deposited the funds at my new bank. One week later my insurance company debited an automatic payment I had forgotten to change. Rather than refuse the payment, FCB reopened my account, paid the $17.50 bill and charged me a $36.00 overdraft fee. Now my account has a balance of -$53.50.

If I had been charged a returned check fee by my insurance company, I would have called it stupid-tax and moved on, and I'll happily pay the $17.50 to FCB, but I don't feel any moral obligation to pay their exorbitant overdraft fee.

If I wish to fight the principles battle, how do I keep my reputation on ChexSystems and the various other credit reporting agencies intact?

  • Is it legal for an auto dealership to issue a new temporary tag when the old one expires?

I recently purchased a car from a dealership in Tennessee. (I live in Virginia.) The dealership had a great deal of difficulty sending me the title paperwork. Finally, the paperwork isn't here and the temporary tag is about to expire. The salesperson has offered to give me a second temporary tag. Is this legal?

  • Will a 70hz generator damage my equipment?

I am looking for a good generator to use as a backup when the power is off. I found a nice model with good reviews that is very inexpensive, but the specifications say it's 70 hz instead of 60. Will a 70 hz power frequency cause any more damage than just making my clocks run fast?
