What is the meaning of 1Chorinthians 5:9-12 regarding judging others?
Recently, I was speaking to a close pious friend regarding forgiving his estranged sister and he gave these verses as a quote to justify the cold war between them. While the description given there is a far far cry from what his sister is ( they just don't get along well, neither of them are evil :) ), I am intrigued as to the actual meaning of this verse. Does it dilute Christ's message of opening arms to all?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs heaven-hell created by God or man?
Do you think we create these places for ourselves by our choices or do you believe that God creates heaven and hell beyond our wildest imagination and picks it for us?
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoMuslims: Is it blasphemy to have a website with name as Allah?
I am referring to the site www.allah.org which itself states
"The unique usage of Allah as a personal name of God is a reflection of Islam's emphasis on the purity of the belief in God which is the essence of the message of all God's messengers."

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPublic Stoning: What does it do to the person who is part of the crowd that deals justice?
This question is not targeted at any group or nation or religion. Public stoning has been an widely accepted practice in the past. This is perhaps only one in the list of drawn out punishments meted out to criminals. There were worse manners of execution. But mostly the punishment, traumatic as it is, is dealt with by an enforcer of law and order.
What is your opinion about the general public being asked or being mandated to be part of the force that deals the punishment? What effect do you think this has on the person being asked to stone?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes your religion give importance to last rites performed by a priest? Is burial preferred over cremation?
This question has to do with your beliefs about what happens if this is not done. Forgive me if the question brings back sad memories.

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists: scientists vs theists?
A question that stemmed from seeing that most questions challenging faith, assume that science is on the opposite side of religion. Isn't that a little like assuming that all scientific community is atheist? Wouldn't you agree that there are people who are strong believers in every field, especially doctors?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists, can you explain music to a person who cannot hear?
Hi Friends,
Forgive my analogy, it is taken simply for the sake of illustrating a point. No comparison further than that. But isn't ask us to explain the existence of God something along these lines?
Thanks!
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you make of the sentence "Lead us not to temptation" in the Lord's prayer?
Please note that James 1:13 says - Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.
So what does this sentence mean then? What are we asking God to do or not to do for us?

The other two gospels does not mention Peter doing anything.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoBelievers: On appropriateness of marriages to cement political alliances....?
One of the many reasons given to justify polygamy is that being related by marriage also served as a strong political alliance. Do you think these marriages are in accordance with God's plan? Do you think God would recommend to any prophet to take an extra wife to cement a political alliance? Or do you think this was purely a worldly arrangement?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoGive an example of a person who you think is a role model for your religion or absence of it.?
No mention of God(s) please :) A fallible human being who you think did a good job of following your religion and can be highlighted as a beacon.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there any community (civilised/uncivilised) on earth where homosexuality is seen as marriage material?
My question has to do about the claim that disapproval of homosexuality as something that was indoctrined by the Abrahamic faiths. While we can see practices of polyandry/polygyny and so on, can we ever find (can even be in any remote uncorrupted tribal community) a same sex union which is given the status of a socially accepted family unit.
Please note the usage "socially accepted family unit". I am not saying that relationships of curiosity or convenience or genuine interest were not openly prevalent - based on the position of the individual in society. This question has to do with social acceptance as a family unit bonded in marriage.
Please don't mention the absence of progeny as a cause. A childless couple are given the status of socially acceptable family unit.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs there any sin which does not have a negative effect on someone else?
Can you think of any sin where the person who commits it can be sure that there is no victim or that he/she is not setting a bad example or will not have any delayed after effects on anyone else?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoName one religious practice from your own religion which you would like to see reformed.?
It is easy to see the good in what we have chosen, but difficult to acknowledge that there are certain practices that are wrong.
For myself, I would like to see equal status for who are today acknowledged by the Indian goverment as Dalit Christians - Christians who have to deal with culturally seggregative practices because they have converted from lower castes in Hinduism.
Is there any practice you would like to be reformed? Please give examples only from your own religion. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of the question.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs it possible to have no sense of worship at all?
Do you think it possible that a person does not worship any object or any doctrine or any being including self? Or do you think that we simply choose what/whom we worship? By worship, I mean reverence, love and devotion.
