  • What's another word for "taken?"?

I've tried thesaurus.com and the synonym thing on word, but none are what I'm looking for.

I'm trying to say I have taken blood and uterine samples of deer for my resume, but "taken" doesn't sound professional enough. I thought about "extracted," but it's really not doing it, either.

    Any ideas?

  • How to keep my snake from getting under the reptile carpet in its cage?

I have a young Pueblan Milksnake and lately she has been getting under the reptile carpet. I DO have aspen bedding in there; about 2" thick. My concern with her doing this is because I have an undertank heater that's stuck to the bottom. I placed the carpet in there as a buffer so she won't get burned, but lately I have noticed she is getting under the carpet and I'm worried she may get too hot and stuck. Her temps are fine so I'm confused as to why she's doing this. I know they're burrowing snakes, but I have 3 hides and some foilage for additional cover. This carpet is also sized for my tank, but it has like an inch of space from the sides.

Can I just tape this carpet down? I'd rather not, but I have no other ideas.

  • Why is my Pueblan Milksnake active during the day?

I'm somewhat knew to snakes. I always had LA natives that I caught when I was younger and bought corns back in middle school. But I've never owned a Pueblan. I just bought one from BHB Reptiles (highly recommend) and she's perfect, very calm with a healthy appetite and loves to just hang out on my hand, even thought she's only about a month old. Before purchasing her, I read a lot about the species and everybody and their momma said how secretive and shy they are and how they're strictly nocturnal and easily stressed. I still wanted an apricot PM though, so I bought one. Well I've only had her for a little over a week and she is SUPER active during the day (I use a daytime heat bulb). She just slithers around the tank and explores with no problem. Her temp gradient is set to the recommended for day and night, but I have a hot spot of about 90 only during the day. From what I've noticed so far, she is usually in the same hide in the morning, that I place her in before bed.

Is this a problem? It's kinda like she's diurnal and doesn't exhibit the "typical" traits of a Pueblan. I was surprised at how tame she seemed straight from the box, while only musking once. I know she's a hatchling and still very young. Is an overly active milksnake a bad thing?

  • Is clorox bad for soaking fake plants for snake terrarium?

I bought fake plants from Michaels, instead of the super expensive ones from the pet stores. I knew I had to clean them and have read some stuff about 9 parts water and 1 part bleach. Well, thats what I did and unfortunately, being the idiot I am, I used 9 parts water (4 cups to each part) and 1 part bleach (4 cups). I let them soak for about 15 minutes and realized "hey, that was a lot of bleach!" I rinsed them off and let them soak in the tub over night and then washed them with dish soap. But, they still have that clorox smell, but barely. I just figured if I can even smell it a tad bit, it would be detrimental to my snake if he licks or drinks water off of them, which is unlikely, but still probable. So is this okay? Or is there something else I can do? Even though the 3 plants were $20, I'm a broke college kid and can't afford the gas to town and the new plants. I even licked it a little and didn't taste anything, but I just wanted to be sure this won't end up killing my snake.

  • Can I use Windex on the inside of my terrarium?

I haven't gotten my snake yet, but I need to clean up my old tank. I won't be getting the snake for about another week or two, so is it okay to use chemicals to clean it, since it'll be a good while till there anything in it?

  • HELP! How to clean water marks off side of terrarium?

I have a 40 gallon terrarium that's been sitting out under the carport for over a year. I'm getting another snake soon, so I wanted to go ahead and set up and stuff. The bottom corner where I used to have the water bowl has water marks, or whatever the name is, just above where the dish sat. It really isn't too bad, but I'd like my tank to look like new. I just tried using a Mr. Clean Magic eraser. Instead of soaking the eraser in water, I used vinegar, but it didn't work (I only scrubbed for a few minutes). So, is there something else I can do that is CHEAP? The only store I have access to is a walmart and there aren't any pet stores or any places that sell legit tank cleaners.

I read something about soaking the tank in vinegar for a little while. So, if I can get the vinegar to set in the affected area, how long should I let it sit?

  • Metal loop that connects necklace and medal?

Is there a name for the metal loop that connects necklace and medal? Mine keeps falling apart and I've worn this saints medal for years and I don't want to lose it. I was hoping they sell them on jewelry websites or something, but I just don't know the actual name for them.

  • Will a doctor write a prescription to a 22 yr old with no past of ADHD?

I'm 22 and in college. It's my senior year and I really need help on focusing. I've never been a great student, because it's kinda hard for me to pay attention, unless it's a topic I find interesting. My parents have always just called it laziness and I kinda agree. I'm literally swamped with all kinds of stuff this quarter and coffee just isn't helping like it used to. I'm almost certain I don't have any clinical problem of attention deficit, but I'd still like to try and get a prescription. I have a weeks worth of vyvanse I'm going to start taking tomorrow to see if it even will help. But, if it does, is there something special I should tell my doctor? Other than citing the clinical symptoms?

I know I can get tested, but that cost $500, that I don't have.

  • How to assemble a chicken skeleton, permanently?

For one of my classes, I have to assemble the skeleton of an animal. I'm not sure if I'll be doing a hawk, mississippi kite, or a rooster. Either way, they're all about the same size. So, what's the best way to keep the bones together? This is 75% of my grade and hot gluing them is not an option. I thought about small wire through the vertebrae, but that'll only for for the backbone. I need something that won't be obvious. Our professor is leaving us in the dark and I want this to turn out perfect.

  • What's the best way to kill a rooster without damaging any bones?

For my anatomy class, I have to assemble the skeleton of an animal. All the good stuff like deer etc were already taken, so I may be stuck with a rooster. With quail and waterfowl, I always rip the head off because I can't ever seem to actually kill the bird when I ring their neck. Anyway, if I can get the ringing down, will that damage the vertebrae? It can't be cracked or broken for the skeleton or else my grade gets penalized. I'd prefer to not drown the bird either. Even though I'm a hunter, I'd still prefer to inflict the less amount of pain.

I don't want to shoot it because of the risk of damaging any bones, also.

  • Does paying utility, gas and cable bills build credit?

I'm still in college and don't have a credit card and never have. I was going somewhere tomorrow to try and purchase something, but try and get financed. I know they check credit. So, does me having all my bills in my name count as credit? I've heard yes and no, but I'd like to not waste a day of work to go there and not be able to get financed for a purchase. Also, if I do get approved, should I bring my latest check stub (even though I work for the school and it was a measly $75)?

  • What time of year should you prune trees only a year old?

I planted 4 cypress trees to bonsai, about a year ago. They've grown to about 2.5 ft. Their "canopy" is getting thick, so I want to prune them. I live in Louisiana, so it's not like winter is right around the corner, but can I still prune them now?

  • Who do you contact to peoples get birth certificates that have died?

I'm trying to figure out my great grandma's ethnicity, but she had died when my grandfather was young. We cant tell from pictures, so I wanted to try and trace her family back. All I have is her name and the date/town she was born in. I'd like to get her parents names, especially her mothers. I've looked into her maiden name, but it just suggest her dad was white.

So, who should I contact? This is also a different state than where I live. Will they give me such records? Any tips for tracing genealogy?

  • Muslims, since you believe "an eye for an eye" so literally...?

would you be mad if Christians behead your Imam?

    Just curious....

Stumbled upon a story where a priest was beheaded along with 2 other people. And before anybody brings up the crusades, Christians have evolved and changed. This "religion" still marries 7 yr old to old men....

  • WTH do you say to a girl who texts "I'm sleepy!" randomly?

I've been talking to this girl for awhile now. We text about everyday and flirt and stuff. Well, every now and then she texts that shes so tired or sleepy. But it's not during our conversation. It's way after it's ended or that how she starts it. For example, I stopped talking to her 1.5 hrs ago and she just now texted "I'm sleepy!"

I've already said once "oh that means your wanna cuddle, right?" and that worked out. But I don't want to use that line again hahaha.

    So, what should I say?

  • What to say to girl when she texts saying she's fat?

This girl I've been going after has said this once or twice. So, what's something good to say that's not something about needing to eat or definitely not being fat. Any witty texts for this? Especially when they literally aren't fat at all.

  • Room spinning while sober?

Every now and then this happens to me. I'm 22 and don't remember when this first started. Anyway, sometimes when I'm just sitting down the room starts to spin. I'm not moving my eyes or anything. The only thing I can compare it to is when you're super drunk and the room spins when you close your eyes, only when this happens, it's a "slow" spin. It just happened to me. I thought it could have been low blood sugar or something, but I literally just got done eating about 30 minutes prior. I'm not lazy or over weight, so I guess that can't be an excuse.

Does this happen to anybody else? I don't really zone out or anything, so I'm sure it's not seizures. I'm able to still type, talk, write or play games etc while this is happening. It last about 5-10 minutes sometimes.

  • What gives the US the ability to invade other countries?

Is it because we're a super power? Or is it a thing with the UN and a "decision" majority agrees on? I was thinking about it. Do our ally countries "ask" for our help against someone else? It's not like any country has ever invaded us. Can someone clarify this for me? I'm just curious.
