  • Riemann Sums Interval?

I am given the definite integral of Sqrt(x) with the interval [0,36] and 18 equally spaced sub-intervals.

What is the minimum number of equally spaced intervals needed in the case that the difference between the upper and lower Riemann sum estimates for the definite integral is less than 1.

  • Can someone help me write a formula for y = f(t)?

The water depth (tide) y measured in meters at a particular river varies sinusoidally in a

24 hour cycle. It reaches its maximum value (high tide) of 5m at 7am every sunrise, and

its minimum value (low tide) is 1m. Find a formula for y = f(t) and hence sketch one

period its graph, whereby t is measured in hours and it is midnight when t = 0.

How do I write the formula for this?

  • Need help solving this probability question?

Can someone please show me the lines of working for questions a and b as i am a bit confused as to how to answer the questions.

In a lottery, 2250 numbers are drawn out at random without replacement from a box containing 150,000 ticket numbers. After all the 2250 numbers are drawn, they are returned to the box and a prize winning number is drawn. If this prize winning number is the same as one of the 2250 previously drawn jackpot numbers, a jackpot prize is awarded. If the jackpot prize is not won (that is, the prize winning number is different from one of the 2250 jackpot numbers), then the prize winning number is returned to the box and another prize winning number is drawn. The selection process is repeated until the jackpot prize is won.

    a. Find the probability that the jackpot prize is won at any draw.

    b. The Jackpot prize is initially $10000 and it increases by $10000 each time the jackpot prize is not won. Find the probability that the jackpot prize will exceed $250,000 when it is finally won.

  • Question About Tonsillitis?

8 Days ago my GP said i have tonsillitis so i got prescribed some antibiotics (LPV-500) my tonsillitis was really bad for the first days of having it as it was painful and uncomfortable to swallow. 8 days has passed and i need to finish my antibiotics in 10 days (so 2 more days left). Today and the past few days my throat and tonsills are still very red but there is no more pain and discomfort. Is this a normal part of the healing process of tonsillitis? should it be gone once i finish my antibiotics course in 2 days time?? thanks :)
