  • Philippines marriage law not fair?

My fiancee and I want to get married. She is a Filipino living in Mindanao and I am an American. She was married to a Filipino man and had 2 children. He decided he did not want to be married anymore and traveled to the US on a visitor's visa. He met an American woman and they got married. It's been 10 years now and my fiancee has spent $3000 with a lawyer trying to get an annulment so we can get married on a fiancee visa in the US. Her lawyer hasn't done anything yet, at least she has not seen any results. He now wants another $2000 and said the annulment will be completed by the end of this year. We will then have to wait another 6-8 mos for the fiancee visa application.

I am wondering if there are any others out there that have gone through this situation and what did you do? We are just sick to think that there is a possibility that this may never resolve and we will not be able to be together.

It seems while Philippine law is trying to protect the sanctity of marriage in their country, there are so many cases where a divorce or annulment should be granted. My fiancee would not even be able to remarry in the Philippines if she wanted to unless she was granted an annulment.

  • Petitioning from Philippines?

My girlfriend and I have been dating for more than 2 years. She is from the Philippines and I am a US citizen. She is able to enter the US without a visa, but can only stay upwards to 6 months at a time. She has visited me several times and usually stays 3- 6 months. I've done some research on the US immigration website about the risk of significant others coming on tourist visas and then getting married. She is planning to come back in August where we will decide to within that time that she is allotted here to get married. She also has two children and I'd like to adopt them and bring them to CA at some point next year so they can start school.

Should I get a fiancee visa for her or just have her come as usual and then get married? And after we marry, how long of a process will it be before her children can come live with us? Not sure if it matters, but her marriage in the Philippines is not yet annulled yet her ex lives in the US and remarried for over 10 years now.

  • need advice on properly kicking out room sharer out of my home in CA.?

Currently I reside in my own 4/3 bedroom home and rented two spare bedrooms to outside renters. One of the renters, rents two rooms from me and operates his computer business from my home. He is a network engineer. He started to rent from me Jan. 2012 and I made it very clear that this would be a month to month arrangement (in writing) since I was dating someone and most likely by the end of 2012 I was going to have her move in with her children. I gave him notice on Nov. 4th 2012. I told him that I understood it was end of year and before holidays but I was giving more than 30 days notice to vacate my home by Dec. 31st. 2012. He had paid first and last month's rent when he moved in, but I gave him an incentive by offering to give him his last months rent back if he moved out by Dec. 1st. $800 by Dec. 15th, $600 by the 22nd and nothing by Dec. 31st.

During the month of Nov, he wasn't really looking, but then in Dec. he started to look, but always seemed like the places were too expensive, didn't allow dogs, etc, etc. The excuses are piling up. Before the holidays he told me that he found a place but he cannot move in until Jan. 15th 2013. I told him; "Fine, but you'll have to pay me for two weeks that you remain."

I just got back from vacation yesterday and he has a new girlfriend and the way he is acting it's like he's putting the "move" on hold or something. He hasn't mentioned one iota about moving out and in fact is acting like he's going to try and continue to stay and give excuses as to not being able to find a place.

I plan on serving him a 3 day eviction notice on Jan. 3rd. I wanted him out by Dec. 31st, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now. Since I live with the guy, I don't want any undue stress living with someone you are trying to kick out, so what are some things I can do?

For example, if I only accept half the rent for the month of Jan. and he doesn't move out by the 15th, I think I'm screwed. If I accept the full month of Jan. rent, then that would imply he has until the end of Jan. to vacate. Or can I change the WiFi passwords or shut of the internet on Jan. 15th if he doesn't move out by the time he agreed with me? I know if I did this, it would severely hurt his business and he'd probably get more serious about moving out. Is this legal considering the original rent included utilities and wifi?

  • to you serious women out there....did I make it to the "Friend Bucket"?

I'm separated, and things aren't totally cleared up with my personal life yet, but I'm making the change to be a happier person. I'm not actively dating until I have closure on things, but I met someone purely on professional grounds, and well it's developed into a friendship and I'm beginning to like this person a lot more. She has invited me over multiple times for dinner, we've conversed about our jobs, our personal lives, she's been inquisitive about my relationship and status of it, she's asked whether I'd go back to my wife, etc. She's taken me to sports games and we've shared dinner out. I am really starting to admire and feeling a physical attraction to her and want to go to the next level, I haven't forced the issue just because I don't have closure on my current situation. She has told me that she really enjoys hanging out with me and has a lot of fun with me. However, I feel like I am somewhere between being a "friend" and being someone that she likes too. But I can not tell. When we part ways, we usually give a hug and kiss on the cheek, but she doesn't really motion for anything more than that. She is in her mid 30's and tells me she is looking for a more serious relationship to start a family with. We have both acknowledged that we both have a lot in common together and her best friend told her; "it's like you two have been friends for a long time." Is she just not sure of me, or are we just "friends" from now on?

  • what does it mean when your solar plexus area is vibrating?

When I've meditated in the past, I experienced sensations of my lower abdomen vibrating. I once was awakened at night because my whole body was vibrating. I haven't meditated in a while because work is too busy lately. However, one day last week while at work, my lower abdomen was vibrating again. This went on for about 2 days. Anyone who knows about Chakras and vibration, can you tell me if this is my spiritual body trying to tell me something or is this just a random event?

  • Why do guys my age have a hard time losing weight?

I'm a 44yr old male, athletic for most of my life. Last few years I've been overweight and going from 275 down to 250 and now back up again. Recently since I changed my diet, I've gained weight and can not shed it. I stopped eating pork, beef and chicken. I eat very light breakfast; 1 cup of coffee, a banana and cup of yogurt, usually a salad or sandwich for lunch, an afternoon snack (something healthy) and then at dinner usually some fish and veggie plate. I do have a cocktail or two at night, but not more than that.

I go to 1 hour boot camp 3 days a week, which I end up sweating profusely and always feel a lack of spring or energy. I am also an avid cyclist and when I'm not going to boot camp I regularly ride a minimum of 40 miles per week. I am a strong cyclist and my legs are conditioned, but when it comes to running, weights, or push-ups (boot camp stuff) I am weak. I currently am 6'4 and weigh around 300lbs. I have an office job and sit on my butt most of the day.

I'm having second thoughts about my diet. I changed because I was disturbed after watching a movie called; "Food Inc." and no longer wanted to participate eating animals (not including fish), but because of all the stuff going on now, I'm considering going back to eating organic only chicken, but no red meat.

I thought maybe I was eating too much carbs, but when I went to eating just salads with tofu at lunch time, I feel low energy for my boot camp or cycling. My carnivore friends say that very few good athletes can perform without eating meat for their protein needs.

I know my body pretty good, so I am just dumbfounded how I am putting on all this weight now, and attribute it to the change in my diet. But then again, it also could be attributed to my age, "Low T", or any number of reasons guys my age start to put on the poundage. I'm literally consumed by my weight gain constantly thinking about it. I would never have imagined, turning out this way, since I grew up so skinny. I am really disgusted by it to be honest and want to change badly. What can I do?

  • vegetarian gaining weight?

In January after watching the movie "Food, Inc." I decided I didn't want to eat meat anymore and became a vegetarian. All my life, I've been active and continue to ride bicycles. Initially, I lost about 10-15 pounds, but soon started packing on the weight again. I attributed this to drinking more alcohol and also not enough exercises. Lately though I am exercising more and drinking less but I am packing on the weight and don't understand why. Here's some info about my diet: I never eat breakfast, only a cup of coffee in the morning with half/half cream, no sugar. I know this isn't good, but I just don't like to eat in the morning. Lunch consists of salad with all the good things like tofu and beans, etc. or I eat a vegetarian burrito, or vegetarian sandwich; egg salad, tuna or cheese. Afternoon snack like a fruit or trail mix. Dinner usually consists of brown rice and curry, brown rice and fried tuna, or any number of vegetarian combos. I do eat snacks like chips and salsa. I never drink soda, or sugary drinks. I do eat dinner late. I recently starting counting calories, and I only go over on the weekends, when I have more than 1 alcohol drink. Could this be the source of why I am packing on more weight, or is it because maybe I'm eating more carbohydrates?

  • I have tingling areas on my back....what is it?

this is going to sound crazy and I can't find anything online regarding this. I started using Nicotine gum to kick chewing tobacco. I was chewing quite a lot of gum everyday. I used to carry alot of stress in my last job, so the gum took the edge off of everything including the addiction.

But I started to experience a tingling sensation on my back. All I can say is that its not inside my back but on the surface, several different areas tingling and itching at the same time. It usually came on when I got really stressed but over time it started coming on randomly.

I finally got off the nicotine gum and the feeling went away. Now I am in a new job and the feeling is coming back again, not as bad as when I was taking the gum, but it happens at random times of the day and not necessarily when I'm at work. I try to remember the things I'm thinking about when the sensation comes on but it ususally is random things and not related to work or stress.

It's the most bizzare thing I'm feeling. It's the equivalent of nails scratching a chalkboard or an itch you can't scratch. It's on my back though, nothing is visible like a rash or anything, but it feels like a spiderweb of tingling on my back. I can't shake it.

  • chronic leg pain after 8 mile road ride?

Rode my fixed gear bike down to the farmers market and back. Next day had incredible pain from hip down to calf in right leg. Thought it was because of fixed gear bike. As I recall I was complaining on my rear in extra ordinary pain while riding (I did have padded shorts on). Next day pain was going away but on 3rd day woke up with extroidinary pain from hip to calf and ankle. Thought maybe a pinched nerve, but symptoms don't add up; no tingling or pin pricks, just on/off pain. Maybe poor circulation, but that would mean I've been having a long build up of chlorestorol or high blood pressure; I have elevated chlorestorol but no high blood pressure. On vacation now, need to see a doc when I get back. Just wondering what it could be, have never experienced this before and nervous.

  • My wife is a communication invalid.....What to do?

My wife calls me a "Freak of Nature". She says that most guys don't open up as much as I do. Well ours is different. I'm the communicator and my wife has a real hard time opening up. I'm so exasperated I can't even get her to call the marriage counselor to set an appt.

Her inlaws warned me about this before we got married. She's half her mom who is a real piece of work and half her dad who's more like me; talkative, extrovert, and non-confortational.

We have many arguments because when I want to talk about finances, our intimacy, and about her nightly routine of getting on her computer for hours on end. (she works well into the evening), she always finds an excuse to change the subject.

My wife does do nice things for me like cook and clean. She'll call me up at work and ask what I want for dinner. I'm wondering if this is her way of communciating to me. We've been married 6yrs now, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

  • Need recomendation for strong stiff road wheelset for heavy rider?

I weigh 252, and 6'4. I have some standard SUP Mavic rims which came on a specialized I recently bought. My guess is that they are basic wheelsets. I've broken rear spokes just navigating all the pot holes on the way to work. I got a quick fix from my local bikeshop and they said I'd be good for a couple more rides, but that I should invest in some better Mavic wheels. I rode this last weekend and at the very top of a 10k climb, I broke two spokes and my wheel was rubbing badly. I had a hell of a time getting off the mountain without crashing a couple times.

I like Mavic wheels and was thinking of the Ksyrium wheels with their blade spokes. I know they look cool, but will they last for me? Also I'm still saving for a Specialize Enduro Mountainbike, so I don't have a $1000 to spend on a wheelset. Just want something bullet proof and relitvely light weight for my road bike.

  • Training for 75km road ride...need advice?

I just started commuting to work about 25 miles a day to start training for this ride. I rode the route last weekend and I was spent afterwards. My legs hurt but recovered yesterday. The ride is this Sunday and I'm wondering if I should do any rides now to get ready for it. I plan on starting my commute tommorrow (Thurs) since my legs are back to normal.

I did feel like I didn't get enough food in my system last weekend and probably bonked at the end.

I have Thurs, Fri, and Sat to get some riding in. Should I just commute to work and spin 25miles a day or should I get some longer rides in. Also what to eat night before and morning of the 75k ride?

thanks for your advice road warriors

  • attracted freinds and family to bad investment..need help?

I was involved in a startup company, we were marketing a commodity product, but to a new market segment. We had something special. I got my friends and family to invest, gave them info, had them meet with CEO and they largely plopped their money down because of trust in me. However, after a year with this company working for stock only, I realized that this president is not a well rounded business leader. In fact, he is making bad decsions that has cost the company a lot of money. I could not afford to work there anymore and left. I still stay in contact since I have more money invested than my freinds. I feel awful not for me but for my F&F who got involved in this. The CEO claims to have our money in an escrow account. Is the money gone? How do I find out if he has it or not? The company has about a million in inventory, what can the stockholders do to get their money back?

  • What is the most outlandish stunt or Prank you pulled off in college?

    Can you top this?-

-shot a rifle out my dorm window and nearly was expelled my first week in school

-threw eggs at city cops from roof of dormitory, police searched our dorms door to door, we hid in the attic

-climbed through underground tunnels under school grounds to break into Christian brothers wine stash

-dumped 50,000 crickets in the library of a rival school during the "big game"

-On graduation day, broke into dean's brand new car and filled it with balloons and newspaper to the roof

-attained a master key to all the dorm rooms in my building, got into our RA's room (a real a**hole) filled his trash can with water and leaned it up against his door on the inside. When he opened his door his carpet was flooded.

-found a passed out student in the dorm hallway and painted his face with permanent marker, took him a week to completely remove it

-lived on campus for a year free by building an "annex room", this is space behind a corner top floor dorm room.

    -mischievous in college
