Mathematics describes the Universe, helps us produce technology and solve physical problems, and is responsible for all our modern architecture.
The entirety of mathematics just seems to work perfectly. Is this not one of the greatest things God has created?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoBinary system questions?
I have a few conceptual questions. First, in a binary, will the eccentricity of the first orbit always be the same as the eccentricity of the second orbit?
Also, does m_1a_1 = m_2a_2 apply for every binary system?
Lastly, are the two ellipses in a binary system of identical shape, with one is just rotated 180 degrees and scaled?
1 AnswerAstronomy & Space5 years agoWhy isn't the speed of light exactly 300,000,000 m/s?
In 1983, the meter was redefined in terms of the speed of light, so the speed of light is precisely 299,792,458 m/s, without any decimals.
My question is, why didn't we just make the speed of light exactly 300,000 km/s? 300,000/299,792.458 = 1.00069229, so wouldn't the meter just need to be 1.00069229x bigger?
It just seems like we purposely overcomplicated it.
