I have been in and out of car audio for 8 years. I worked my way up from installer to shop manager in just over 2 years at my first job, then jumped around from shop to shop for awhile. I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps as an Intelligence analyst, and am currently a salesman for an industrial conveyor maintenance company. You can also find me at clubknowledge car audio forum. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/forum/ I have some pictures on myspace of my installs http://www.myspace.com/cplkittle Pictures of my car are here: http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh21/kittleskia/

  • How do I regulate a 12v output from a battery being charged at a variable rate from 14-18vdc?

I want to charge a 12v car battery with a solar panel and run LED lights in my house off of the battery. What do I need on the OUTPUT side of the battery to regulate the voltage and keep it at a constant 12 volts +/- 5% at around 5 amps. Is there something from a computer or old car amplifier I can rob, do you have the specs to draw a diagram I can build one from?

  • Is there a market for quality craftsmanship?

I have noticed a huge decline in craftsmanship and attention to detail in the last 15-20 years. This is not just a decline in one area, it is across the board. From thumbtacks to houses, from flashlights to computers. Is anyone else fed up with this? I know I am! Where is the pride? Where is the detail? Where is the reliability? Is everything disposable these days?

  • How do you make a Dish DVR work with Viewsat?

I have recently purchased a viewsat ultra lite, and I can not get it to work with my Dish Network DVR. The viewsat works or the dvr works. The problem I believe is with the dual LNBs. There is a single coax/data wire coming from the dual LNBs and I think both receivers are fighting over the signal. Is there any way to make them both work at the same time?

  • Describe your favorite steak?

the cut and weight, how it is cooked, and the seasoning.

I like a 14-16oz porterhouse medium rare, well seared, and seasoned with garlic butter and fresh ground black peppercorn, but I am looking for something new to try.

  • what is wrong with my lawn mower?

Briggs and Stratton engine, model # 12Q802 Type 0204.

It runs for 5 minutes and dies like it is out of gas. Sometimes it will crank again for a few seconds if you prime it 10 or more times, sometimes it won't.

Either way, if you let it sit overnight, it will crank up immediately and run for another 5 minutes and the cycle repeats. It will take a month to cut my grass this way.

  • First Annual?

We are hosting a fundraising car show this year and plan to make it an annual event. I remember learning in school that the word "annual" notates an event that has already occured at least once. Some say that the "first annual" event is actually the second event marking the one year anniversary of the event. Other sources online say that it is now acceptable to use "first annual" to indicate that the event is to be planned on a yearly basis. Are there any substitutes other than "innagural" that can be used for the first show that will also indicate the intention of a yearly event?

  • Playsguitars.. Why the hate mail?

I didn't say anything or answer any questions about CEA compliance.

I have never sent you an email

And subwoofers can be CEA compliant. so who's the dick now?

    From: playsguitars

    Subject: cea compliance.

Message: cea compliance has nothing to do with subwoofers and their respected terminals. let me ask you this: if you're a TEACHER of audio, you

shouldn't be a dick about it. you should be

informative, nice and helpful at every turn. as stated

in a previous email, i don't care about your

credentials or what piece of paper makes you the

master of all time in a particular field. i voiced my

opinion, something that is valid on yahoo answers,

(maybe not so much in the real world). so maybe you

should re-think your wise remarks in the form of

personal email's, and take your aggressive stance

toward self-righteousness elswhere before you teach

    another "class."

  • What kind of dog is this?

I know this is probably a common question, but I would like to know if anyone can pick out certain traits in this dog.

    http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh21/kittleskia...

The vets are guessing a mix of two or more of the following:

great pyrenees, akita, husky, and malamute. He has single front dewclaws and none on the back feet, so that rules out the pyrenees for the most part. He is approximately 9 weeks old, 21 lbs, and 14" tall at the front shoulders. His ears do not stand up straight, they stay folded even when they perk up. He is very playful but slow and uncoordinated. He sleeps alot, and seems to be paralyzed if you hold him like a baby. He is a very loving, but likes to bite. Basically he is the perfect puppy for now. I am waiting for him to start chewing up everything. I would like to know if anyone can tell me what breeds he is or isn't for that matter.

  • breeding long hair with short hair dogs.. what is the result?

We have an AKC / CKC registered miniature black and tan female daschund. I want to get a male long hair red daschund.

What would be the result of breeding the two in terms of hair length? Would the puppies either have long or short hair, medium length hair, or possible long and short hair on the same dog?

What would be the color options? I am thinking some red and some black and tan. How do you get dapple?

Also, does either the CKC or AKC frown on this?

I googled my login name (cplkittle) and found that now I am a member of a gardening forum, a honda forum, a nissan forum, a friends forum etc etc

  • LED array layout... which voltage should I use?

Instead of buying a $40 LED stick, I decided to try making my own. My question is about the resistance. I used this calculator:

    http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz

    The LEDs are 3.4-3.6v fwd voltage, 30mA fwd current - 75mA max. I used 3.5v, 30mA

with a 12v source, it tells me to wire in groups of 3 (series) with a 56 ohm resistor.

    If I input 14v, I get 4 in series with a 1 ohm resistor.

My question is, if I do the 14v wiring, will it hurt to run them on 12v (engine off)?

If I wire them according to the 12v layout, will it burn them up at 14-14.4v?

Or should I just go with an average of 13v? (3 in series with 100 ohm resistor)

  • can you give me the name of a good female vocalist?

I am looking for a CD with some good female vocalist tracks on it to demonstrate the clarity of my stereo system.

I am looking for clarity and purity like Amy Lee (Evanescence) - "Lithium" and "Good Enough". Paul Oakenfold features a female vocalist on his Another World CD, the song is called Sanvean, but there is no artist information.

If that gives you an idea of what I am looking for, please give me some more ideas. I am hoping to find some opera maybe with orchestral background. Any favorites or suggestions?

  • Lexmark printer scans, copies, but won't print.. why?

I have never had this much trouble with a printer and if there were a hammer nearby it would be a mess!

I installed the printer and am using the USB connection even though it is wifi capable. It will scan and send the picture to the computer, it will copy, but it will not respond to any print commands from the computer. I have reinstalled the printer, tried connecting it at different times (before startup, after startup, connecting the printer then turning it on, turning the printer on then connecting it) I downloaded new drivers, downloaded new firmware, uninstalled all of it and reinstalled it 4 times now trying wifi and usb connections, but the damn thing just won't print. help?

Lexmark's technical support is useless! The only support you can get is by internet chat. All they do is copy and paste irrelevant BS to your questions. I asked why my printer was not communicating with my computer and they gave me a paragraph about how to clean the ink cartridges.

  • What formula do I need?

I am building a SPL box tuned to 60 Hz. Since this is the frequency of AC current, Could I just use a power inverter to 'burp' the speaker @ 120volts?

What is the formula I need to figure how many amps this would pull at a 2 ohm load? And since the ohm load is so small, will even work plugged into a 120v outlet? Also, how many watts is 120v through 2 ohms?

  • if people stop purchasing enlargement pills will my spam stop?

are people that ashamed of their size? These male enhancement pill spam emails are pouring in 10 per hour. Someone has to be buying them to fund the agressive advertisement campaign.

I think I will advertise an enhancement pill of my own for a penny each. Instead of enlarging like it advertises, it will actually make things shrink. Maybe then people will stop buying them.

  • I sent myself spam???

I keep getting spam from myself. It is caught in the bulk folder, but I always look over the bulk folder just in case.

I checked my sent folder and the email was not in there, so no one logged onto my account and sent it, but tagged the email as if I sent it..

    How do they do this?

  • can cardinals safely eat dog food?

Last year I occasionally saw a cardinal or two sneak up on the porch and steal dog food... This year I have seen 3 or 4 beautiful males and a female or two taking turns cleaning out the dog food bowl. Is it safe for them to eat dog food? I put out a bowl of bird food on the rail, but they ignore it. I don't mind them eating, I enjoy their company, but I am concerned that it may not be healthy for them.
