What reaction to government UFO confirmation?
If leaders from governments from around the world, including the USA, were to confirm that UFOs do exist and have been visiting our planet, what do you think would be the general reaction of the world population? Do you think it would garner a "we told you so" reaction? Would it would create panic and chaos? Variables aside, what do you think the widespread reaction would be?
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoHave you/your life ever been affected in a positive way by gossip?
Today I witnessed the extent to which one incidence of gossip, "post office style", can effect so many lives in so many different ways. Then I tried to find something positive about what had happened (I wasn't able to), and it made me wonder if there was anything positive that could come from gossip. I sure can't think of anything - how about you?

I used to have a photo on my pc of a jet breaking the sound barrier, and it showed a jet looking like it just emerged from a disc-shaped cloud stood on end. I just watched the following clip at MySpace:

3 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoWhat symptoms would our kitty be having if he ate a plant that was toxic?
We have a new male kitten who is now approx. almost four months old. Today he began throwing up and had some bad diarrhea. He was drinking a lot of water afterward. I'm wondering if he might have eaten part of a plant that is toxic to him. I searched the internet for plants that are toxic to cats, but they didn't tell me what kind of symptoms my cat might be having. Can anyone help me with this info?

2 AnswersQuotations1 decade agoDo you think the barter system could work in today's world?
When I learned about the barter system in school, I remember wondering why we stopped using it and began using money. I have always thought that having the barter system would be a good thing, because then everyone would have to have something to contribute in order to get by (no free-loaders, or at least that's what I'm thinking). What are your thoughts about this? Do you think the barter system could work in our modern societies?
9 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoIf you found $20 on the floor in the crowded hall of your church, what would you do?
Would you try to find the owner? Would you pocket the money? What would you do?
My brother and I had just attended a friend's wedding, and everyone was slowly making their way through the main hall to exit the church. I looked down, saw $20 on the ground, and put my foot over it. I told my brother about it and asked him what we should do about it. What would you do?

I know that it's a slang name for television, but how did that name come about? Why is it called that?
18 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoHow can one person help bring about changes in child support system?
I know so many overwrought men who are unduly burdened by the inane rules, policies, and demands of the (California) Child Support system that it makes me furious. These are men who are trying to do right by their children only to get raked over the coals endlessly. I think changes need to be made, so what can I possibly do to start helping bring these changes about?
6 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade ago"Pour off fat" - what do you do with it?
When cooking hamburger, sausage, bacon, or any other kind of meat that leaves behind fatty juices, what do you do with it after you remove it from the pan? My mother always poured into an empty coffee can, and when the can filled I guess she threw it away. What do you do?
7 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoReally need help finding song title and artist.?
The genre is probably HipHop or Rap, and I'm not sure but I think the song was popular in the late 90's. I'm also not sure if I have the chorus lyrics right, but it sounds like the guy says "Y'all gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here. Y'all gonna make me.... "
I know this is pretty much NOTHING to go on, but if someone knows the song and can help I will REALLY appreciate it!

4 AnswersOther - Holidays1 decade agoDo you let your preteen password protect their computer?
My 12 year old son just bought his own computer at a friend's yard sale. Knowing how he is, I think he will probably password protect it, just to be secretive. I know I have the RIGHT to have him not do that, but I wondered what your opinions are about this. The pc is not currently connected to the internet; if it was, I would definitely not let him block my access.
16 AnswersAdolescent1 decade agoIs common sense natural or acquired?
Do you think common sense is something you either have or you don't? I mean, is it something some people are born with while others are not? Or do you think common sense is something that is acquired through experience? Please tell me what you think. Thanks.
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy does my cat maul our bread?
My 13 year old cat has a strange behavior that we're curious about. If I leave any loaf bread or pastries (such as doughnuts) anywhere she can get to them, she will maul them. It looks like she chews on them through the plastic packaging, just enough to make it inedible for us. However, if I put the bread, etc., right in her bowl, she won't eat it. Why does she do this! Is it fun? Is she lacking something? Is it a combination of things? It's really irritating!
11 AnswersCats1 decade agoHow often should chimney sweeping be done?
We have lived in our current house for 4 1/2 years, and the chimney has never been swept or cleaned out once in all that time. Last year I lit one of those creosote logs in the fireplace, but that is the extent to loosening the "stuck-ons" in the chimney.
I think I'm going to buy a chimney sweeper this year. How often should chimneys be swept? Any other advice?
11 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat is this Italian bread snack called?
When we were in Las Vegas earlier this year, we ate at an expensive Italian restaurant along the canal in the Venetian Hotel. While we were waiting for our meals, we were served these bread things I can only describe as bread chips. They were like Lays potato chips only thinner, more flavorful and made from bread. It was like they had shaved a loaf of bread and cooked the shavings until crisp.
I did ask what they were, but, not only can I not remember what they told me, I couldn't pronounce it to begin with. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and what those things are? I would like to learn how to make them myself if possible. Thanks in advance for any help.
5 AnswersEthnic Cuisine1 decade agoHow to ward off a bladder/urinary tract infection?
I'm feeling the pain and extraordinary discomfort which signal that I've got a bladder/urinary tract infection starting. I'm trying to drink LOTS of water in an effort to flush my system out before the infection really sets in. I've been able to do that before. My question is, besides lots of water and cranberry juice, what other liquids are good to drink to help flush my system? Also, if cranberry juice is good, would it also be good or better to eat cranberries? Thanks for helpful answers.
4 AnswersAlternative Medicine1 decade agoWhat might be wrong with our orange tree?
My grandmother has two orange trees in her yard which produce the best tasting oranges ever. I've been taking care of yard and home while she's been ill, and I'm worried about one of the orange trees. The leaves are yellowing a bit, like a houseplant when it needs water, but it has received enough water and the leaves are not dry and crackly. I haven't noticed any pests on the tree, but I don't know what to look for. The tree just doesn't look healthy, and I'm concerned. Can anyone give me advice or point me towards a source of help info?
