  • How many Significant Figures?

Sulfur dioxide is produced in enormous amounts for sulfuric acid production. It melts at -73°C and boils at -10°C. Its H°fus is 8.619 kJ/mol and its H°vap is 25.73 kJ/mol. The specific heat capacities of the liquid and gas are 0.995 J/g·K and 0.622 J/g·K, respectively. How much heat is required to convert 2.490 kg of solid SO2 at the melting point to a gas at 60°C?

How many sig figs would the answer have? I already found the answer, but I don't know if it should be 3 or 4 sig figs? The answer is in scientific notation, btw.

    Thanks.

  • I really want to play piano AND tennis, but I can't :(?

I'm a sophomore in high school, and I really want to play both piano and tennis, but the deal is, is that I can't. My parents won't let me do band, piano, AND tennis which really sucks. I've been playing piano for as long as I can remember, and I have 2 more years to go until I can pass the last level and get college credit for it. I'm going to stick with it, and band as well. My parents think that I can't play a sport because I'm too weak. Sure I get tired a lot and stressed out from school and music, but I'm confident that I can handle a sport as well. I'm the type to go all out on everything. I REALLY want to do a sport because I couldn't do it freshman year, so are there any ideas on how to convince my parents? Mainly my mom. ...

I'm extremely grateful for everything that they have done for me in my life, and my mom gets mad at me and tells me that I'm way too greedy if I ask if I can do a sport...I don't understand that. If I'm willing to work for it, then why can't I do it? I feel like I'm missing out on all the school social sports things, and it really brings me down. :( How can i convince her?

  • What would you do with her?

What would you do with a friend who-----

-calls you names like retard and stupid in a jokingly way, but says it almost everyday and the names wear you down after a while

    -points out your flaws

-when they're having a bad day, they take it out on you by being extra rude

-they try to get you mad and cause an argument to "spice up life"

-makes fun of a lot of people

-thinks that they're the most mature person in the school

-thinks they're smarter than you and admits it out loud

Yeah...I have a friend exactly like that. I never get mad, and I let the hurtful things that she says pass by, but one day, she said something excruciatingly awful to me. I've realized what an idiot I was, being friends with her and letting her say those things to me...I'm sort of venting.. =/

Have you ever regretted a friendship before?

  • How do I go about tutoring a 4 year old boy? I'm 16?

My mom's friend wants me to tutor her son on a daily basis, excluding weekends, for an hour. She just wants me to get him to be more familiar with the alphabet, practice spelling, and eventually create sentences, stories, and other things associated with basic writing, you know? Just simple standards for a toddler.

The thing is, is that I don't know if I should take the job. I mean, I want to make money (finally!), but I'm just so afraid to mess up or something. I know it sounds silly because he's only 4, but still!

I think I'll do it, but I still want some feedback from the minds of total strangers. Lol. Also, how should I make things fun? I'm thinking about getting a dry erase board and making an alphabet chart.

  • Dog with an allergic reaction?

My dog had an allergic reaction today. He's a dachshund, a year and a half old....anyways, he was fine when he woke up this morning, but after he went to the backyard to go to the bathroom, his nose was really swollen. My mom and I didn't know what to do as this was our first dog and the first time the bridge of his nose became swollen so we decided to wait it out a while...bad decision.

Later tonight, he woke up from a nap and started getting hives all over his back and sides, as well as vomiting this yellow liquid substance. the side of his neck also started growing this red huge swollen bump so my family and I rushed to the emergency pet hospital.

So he got two shots, and is currently sleeping right now. His bumps reduced by a lot, and I just want to know what I should do if this happens again...I was in kind of a daze from being really stressed out of the situation, so I didn't really get the chance to ask the questions I should've asked...I know the vet told me to give him benedryl if it happened again, but doesn't that only reduce the allergy reaction, instead of actually treating it? ...Also, I don't know what caused the allergy either, but I guessing an insect bite outside, ...but I live in Oregon so the weather outside today was cold, and rainy.

also, should I clean his toys as well? first time dealing with this so I'm kinda freaked out by this whole situation

    I'm 15 btw.

  • Should I transfer high schools next year?

I know this doesn't relate to this section, but I love C&A!

I'm thinking about transfering high schools next year. I'm in 2 out of 3 honors classes that my school offers for freshman this year, but in the school that I want to transfer in, doesn't, and I'm afraid that it'll effect my college application when time comes. The reason I want to transfer is because I decided to go to a different high school than my friends due to me wanting to follow in my brothers footsteps. He graduated in the school I'm attending at now, which I hate. I'm basically the loner girl that doesn't have any friends right now, and I even eat lunch in the bathroom or library because I don't know anyone. It's been a week since school started, and ughh. It's just so hard making friends. Academically, I will get a 4.00 at this school, and at the school that I want to transfer at. The school I want to transfer at does not offer any AP or Honors classes, but it has all of my friends that I miss and love. I would basically be popular if I transfered, but that's not what I want. What I want is my friends, my old life back, and to be happy again.

    So what do you think?

1.) Transfer next year, and not be able to take any honors or AP classes, but still get 4.00's, comunity service, clubs, and possibly a sport. Plus being HAPPY with many friends and a social life.

    or...

2.) Don't transfer, but be in honors and AP classes, clubs, a sport, and community service. BUT be unhappy and miserable, with not so many friends.

Oh, and it takes 30 min. to get to the schoo I'm going to now. For the school that I want to transfer at, it takes 5 min. Voice your opinion. I'm depressed...ugh.

  • Where the heck do they sell gladiator sandals?

Getting a pair of those shoes is next on my shopping agenda. But the problem is that I don't know where to get a pair! I have really small feet. Size 5. Hah, no comments about that please. I'm still growing. 15 in a week.

So... can you just name a few stores that sell them? It'd be nice if they weren't too pricey. Thanks!
