I have a basking lamp for my Chameleon (Zoo Med basking bulb). It comes with a dimmer switch that helps me regulate the temperature of the basking spot. I was told by someone that dimming a basking bulb reduces the spectrum of the light. Because of that I should get rid of a dimmer lamp and get a regular non dimming lamp, and use a regular house bulb.

Never heard of this before. Is that true?

p.s. I have a separate light for UVB (ReptiSun 5.0). The basking lamp is just for basking. Does light spectrum play into it?

not the best picture but they are predominantly black in color, have wings (can fly) and seem to be attracted to light (they congregate on my lamp).

if it helps, i am based in Minnesota.

can anyone tell me what these insects are and how to get rid of them?

Can you audiophiles out there tell me which one would be a better bet? I am using a Sony 7.1 receiver (with a Blu Ray player going to it) and the room that this would be in is approx. 500sq ft.

I have my new LCD (sony) being shipped in today. My current setup includes cable out the wall (no cable box) into my HD tivo and from there into my tube TV.

My cablecards for the tivo don't come in till late next week. and likewise, my digital and HD signaled cable doesn't start till that time

my question is that till the whole digital and HD setup kicks in, would it be possible to still hook up my tivo to the new lcd via a HDMI cable? Tivo HD does have a HDMI out.

in other words, even with a normal cable signal from the wall into the tivo, would that signal be carried out from the tivo to the LCD via an HDMI cable? I understand that since the signal coming in is non digital/HD there will be no up conversion.

does HDMI carry a regular video signal that's not digital?

I moved into a buddy's house who has the LYNX PRO LINE 1/2 HP Garage Opener. He only has one opener remote for it that he uses. I tried to earch online for a Lynx remote I could pick up but no luck so far. I picked up one of those generic garage door openers from home Depot but it did not work either.

my question is... does anyone know where I can pick up a opener remote for this type of door opener? OR is there a good universal remote that would work for this sort of garage opener.

My CRT is on its last legs. I am looking to now invest in a LCD TV. Can any you guys give me some make & model recommendations? also if you can let me know what's the price for those models, that would be great.

here are my criteria....

1) Between 26 to 32 inches

2) Don't have HD cable as yet (only through the wall) hope to get HD sometime soon. So the TV I get should be able to pick up regular cable signal and then also be able to handle HD (i.e. have HDMI) down the road

3) Need a TV that has the least customer complains.

I am going to Vancouver for a week on holiday. I have a regular cellphone from sprint. Will it work fine in canada or would i be charged roaming charges? I mean, people from the US can call me on my cellphone when I am in Vancouver right? or since I am in another country, my cellphone won't work.....

I have a car with a V6 engine. The 'recommended' gas to be used is premium. But with the gas prices going up like crazy for last month or so I have been putting in regular gas in it. is that okay? I mean, is it gonna hurt the car in the long run? Should I revert back to premium? Also, if I do have to revert back. What would be the procedure? would I have to get my fuel tank flushed out or something or can I just start filling premium gas moving forth and that's fine?

Hi drive a 2001 Jetta GLX V6 (automatic). Lately I have been having an issue that when I accelerate the car from idle, the car picks up but when it hits around the 30 miles an hour mark, I can feel a slight jerk in the car, like it just shifted gears. This has never happened before. Any ideas on what the problem is. and more importantly how much would it cost to fix approximately? I still have the powertrain warranty from the dealer, would that help me any bit here?

I own a 2001 volkswagen getta glx. today, I lost the front bumper grill (driver side) on the road. it had come loose over the past few weeks and guess it popped out somewhere on the highway. I have attached a sample car picture with the part that i lost marked on it. can someone identify what's the actual name of the part and which online website can I buy it from? will appreciate it if you guys can forward me a link.

So I just got my first car a few weeks ago and I need to take it through a car wash sometime soon. I have been through car washes before but on the passenger side. Now i know that one goes in and pays the attendant for the car wash who gives you a receipt with a code on it. one would enter this code into the machine outside the car wash. and line the car up to the washer but what after that.... I mean, can someone live my play by play of a car wash? I just don't want to go there and make a fool out of myself.

as summer is setting in, I am looking to get myself a new air conditioner. I rent an apt. on the top floor of an apt. bldg. so in summer, the sun hits my roof constantly and my room is like a damn sauna. I have an old AC but its really ineffective. it came with the apt. Don't know the make or model. its one of those ones that you can attach to a window sill and you can remove it during winter. e.g. http://www.inspect-ny.com/aircond/WindowAC01DF.jpg (not my picture but its very similar to the AC i have)

my question is, I am looking to buy a new AC. I need one that's strong and efficient enough to cool down a 400 sq. foot room, that's very hot and humid. However it should be light enough to be held in place on the window and should not take up too much of power (need it to be easy on the wallet).

if anyone can give me make, model numbers and cost of suitable units, it will help me in my decision. also let me know what store carries them if possible

I drive a 2001 VW Jetta GLX. I just bought the car pretty recently I noticed that there is a button with ASR on it placed prominently on the dash. Hitting the button lights it up and also lights up an icon next to the speedometer (its a yellow colored icon which has a circle around an exclamation mark)

What does this ASR button do and should I leave it on or leave it off?
