  • Are there other book series' that took as long as Game of Thrones to write?

A Game of Thrones was published in 1996. Four books and 15 years later, A Dance with Dragons was published in 2011.

We've got (at least) two more books coming, but who knows, the last one may not come out until 2025-2030.

Have there ever been any other book series that have taken this long to complete?

  • How to use HDMI to send TV images to the Computer?

OK, so I know that if I plug an HDMI cable to my laptop and my TV, I can view my computer screen on the TV.

But what I want to do is the opposite. I want to be able to view the TV screen on my computer.

Is this possible using HMDI to do this? And if not, is there some other way to achieve what I am trying?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Which QB should I play in Week 4? Foles or Stafford?

We are using espn rules, except QB's get 6 pts per TD and 1 pt per 10 yrds thrown, so it's a little different.

    Nick Foles -or- Matthew Stafford??

Foles is 2nd in fantasy points only to Manning so far and is going against the Niners who have given up several deep pass TD's (which is Foles' specialty)

Alternatively, Stafford is facing a week NYJ secondary and coming off a horrible week 3, so he should come out swinging...

  • Is Global Warming Really Happening - How Do We Know?

I know that some scientists somewhere take ice core samples and determine the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere from like 1,000 years ago or something, and that's why they say CO2 is the highest now than it ever has been. But is that 100% true? Is the ice core sample thing, like 100% accurate? How do we know?

Also, I always wondered how the global temp could be steadily rising, but all over the world, if you look at highest recorded temperature, you'll find that the records for most countries occur in the early 1900's. For instance, the record for longest consecutive temps above 100 degrees is in Australia and it was 100 years ago. What does this mean?

It's my opinion, based on the evidence that I've seen (although I'm far from a professional, or scientist or whatever) that global warming is more likely a misinterpretation of data. However, this could easily be said about my opinions too. It just seems like, how could we really know if the planet was warming, unless we've been tracking it for 1,000's of years, in millions of locations around the world, which we obviously haven't done.

Can someone please explain to me how we know global warming is really happening? But don't just say, because CO2 levels are rising, or the avg temp has gone up steadily - how do we know this is happening?? How do you know? I'm genuinely curious and am not trying to be a d o u c h e...

  • Fantasy Football - Week 4 WRs - Who should I start?

    Standard ESPN scoring

Which two Wide Receivers should I start this week, and why? (week 4)

    Demaryius Thomas

    Anquan Boldin

    Brandon Marshall

    Victor Cruz

I'm leaning towards Thomas and Boldin, but Marshall has been pretty consistent this year, although he may be held back by his injury... looking for the big win to take me to 4-0, thanks for your help!!

  • Obscure Horror Movie - Anyone Heard of This One?

It looked like it was filmed in the early 80's or late 70's possibly.

The scene I can sort of remember was a woman was in the bathroom in a home. She was getting ready for a date or something I think. then when she walks out, the man that was waiting for her attacks her.

I'm not sure about the details at this point but I think I remember, at one point he grabs a metal pole (like a fireplace poker thingy) and starts bashing her face in. Then he does other stuff I think, but eventually shoves her head into an oven and melts her face off or something like that. The whole time, the guy doesn't seem angry or manic in anyway, he's just calmly and brutally killing this woman.

They showed all of this, like they didn't pull the cameras away for the impact scenes...SUPER violent and gory. B-movie for sure, no famous people that I can remember were in it.

Anyways, this thing freaked me out as a kid, but I never knew what movie it was from.

Are there any deranged horror fans out there that may know what movie this is???

  • How do I have this song stuck in my head?

All of a sudden...without warning, my brain starts singing "...come to my window, blah blah blah, something to the light of the moon..."

How the heck do I have Melissa Etheridge's "Come to my Window" stuck in my head????

I can't remember the last time i heard that horrible song. I never listen to the radio, ever. I can't stand Melissa Etheridge, and her stupid window. So how is it possible that this song just creeps into my brain?

I'm sitting here at work, minding my own business, and bam! WHY???

This happens all the time, with songs that I haven't heard in years...today it's Melissa Etheridge, tomorrow...who knows.

Logic tells me if I can pinpoint why this is happening, I can maybe prevent it from happening again.

  • What was this Blind Melon song called?

It's not the bee girl video, that ones called "no rain", everybody knows that ;)

The music video for the song I'm looking for is the one where Shannon, near the end of the video, is smashing his fist or maybe even his head through the windshield of a car that the band has been sitting in for most of the video.

FYI he's actually doing this by the way, it was not planned as part of the video, and he really injured himself. Anyways, I wanted to show my wife, but I can't find it. I always thought it was for the song "2x4" but I don't seem to be able to find it.

HALP!!! This is driving me nuts!!

  • Need Punctuation Help - The Dreaded Apostrophe...?

Ok, so I'm naming my Fantasy Football team "Frank Fortune's Fail Mary's"

The apostrophe on "Fortune's" I know is correct, but it's the one on "Fail Mary's" that I'm not sure about.

I know it wouldn't be "Fail Maries" - but "Fail Marys" looks weird too.

Is "Frank Fortune's Fail Mary's" correct?
