  • Trying to remember a B&B in Alaska?

I do not know the town or the name... I am trying to find their website...

This was a rather pricey place to stay (although most in Alaska are).

I believe the accomodations were made from driftwood by the innkeepers. They were originally from Norway. I believe they had built something that resembled a ship rather than a cabin or a house. or they had added on to a docked/runaground ship.

It was on a private inlet or bay, only accessible by boat or float plane.

I have been very unsuccessful using google to find it.

    Anyone?

  • Hours of Operation in DC and Gettysburg?

Hello DC'ers! I need some help. I have been to both Wash DC and Gettysburg years ago. My husband is coming along this time (for his first visit) and we do have to work around a wedding on Saturday (reason for the trip). We have all day on a Friday and all day on a Sunday, in October. As well as Mon morning in Gettysburg if we missed something. We were thinking Fri for DC and Sun for Gettysburg but really wanted to get an idea what would be open (considering it gets dark early that time of year) especially on Sunday. In DC we want to do monuments/memorials and Arlington mostly. and in Gettysburg we want to drive/walk the grounds. Nothing terribly specific. Anything anyone thinks is must see or that you know closes early during the Fall or Sundays, please respond!

    thanks

  • Trauma Experts: Did I get an MRI?

People at work were discussing their experiences with an MRI today and I am curious if I had one. The reason I don't know is that I would have been unconscious. I had a car accident a few years ago, went to the ER, was in the hospital for about a week. My injuries were all internal - broken ribs, broken lumbar processes, collapsed lungs, lacerated liver and lacerated spleen. I was in and out of awareness as I had a chest tube inserted, a catheter, an embolism to my spleen etc etc. I think I vaguely remember a CAT scan but I wondered with what happened and the damage it caused to my body if an MRI was necessary to determine some of those things or not. (I had so much done in that week that I did not look into depth at my hospital bill at the time and would not remember if it was on there at this point anyway) Thanks!

  • Need a Hotel near Detroit?

We are going to Comerica Park this summer for an event and plan on going to Great Lakes Crossing Mall as well. We wanted to stay at Weber's Inn in Ann Arbor but they were already booked. Can anyone recommend a good area to look in? It does not have to be a super nice hotel, just safe and a decent price. We will be traveling West in the am, so would prefer the Detroit to Ann Arbor region, just wondered if there was somewhere fun and unique. Thanks!

  • Grand Rapids, Michigan Area Schools?

I already know how to look up the ratings of AP test scores, and student to teacher ratio and national rank etc. I am interested in opinions and experiences.

We will be moving soon and I am wondering specifically about:

Jenison, Hudsonville, Caledonia, Kenowa Hills, Byron Center, Wayland and Thornapple Kellogg

Input on Forest Hills, Hopkins, Kentwood, Grandville, E Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Union or anything else within a 30 mile radius is welcome but we have somewhat settled on the other areas mentioned.

    Thanks

  • Water smells like sulfur?

Our kitchen sink water smells like sulfur. Specifically the cold water, running on hot for awhile makes it go away. Nowhere else in the home -bathrooms, fridge water/ice dispenser, hose outside etc. does it smell like this.... We have replaced the filters (and they are pretty bad when we take them out.) and it goes away but only for a very short period of time. Does anyone have any idea of what else we could do on our own, or what a plumber might need to do?

  • Who sings back up on Jackson Browne's first album?

Normally I would guess David Lindley,

however there are quite a few voices, is it Glenn Frey? or any of the CSNY guys?

For instance, on From Silver Lake, there seems to be a lot of harmony, does anyone know for sure?

  • Got married, new passport?

I have a passport that is good for 3 more years, however I was married this past fall and took a new last name. This has been legally changed with the IRS, etc.

    My questions are

    1. Can I still travel with this passport if my ticket is in my maiden name or is that a huge legal fiasco no-no?

    2. Can I RENEW my passport for a lesser fee rather than paying a full fee for getting a passport even though it is in a different name? or Do I have to just apply for a brand new passport?

    thanks!

  • Songs that mention George Jones or any of his songs?

I am making a George Jones inspired playlist. I am looking for songs that mention him, mention a song or a lyric of his, or a song that he guest sings on to put between all my favorite Jones songs.

    So far I have

    Dirtroad Anthem - Jason Aldean

4th of July - Shooter Jennings

My Kind of Music - Ray Scott

Murder on Music Row - Alan Jackson and George Strait

The Gospel According to Jones - Eric Lee Beddingfield

    Country Boy - Aaron Lewis

Country Boy Can Survive Y2K version - Chad Brock

Any more suggestions would be awesome!

    thanks!

  • Who sings this song? High pitched female country singer?

I heard it on XM Nashville about 3 months ago. It is a newer country singer, I have never heard anything else by her before, she has a super high pitched soprano voice, almost child like and the song is about sleeping on the front porch. If I remember right it is because she was drunk and left her keys somewhere or I could be way off and it could be her singing about her man sleeping on the porch. Any help is appreciated!

  • Vacation to Sunshine Coast?

We are getting married in mid October and would like to spend 4-5 days in BC. We found a place that we would like to stay on the Sunshine Coast but have a few questions about the area.

What kinds of things are there to do that time of year? I know horseback riding and a lake and the ocean are near where we are staying.

What will the weather be like? We know it wont be super warm and that is fine.

What are some local attractions? Anything outdoorsy is welcome as well as fine dining and museums.

And any experiences with the BC Ferries? We will need to take one from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale.

Also trying to determine if it is worth getting a rental car, or if we would be able to take a taxi or walk to places we want to visit on the Sunshine Coast.

    thanks for the info!

  • Question about tv show LOST, dancing video?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xPOXSfPQGE&feature...

This spring I watched seasons 1-6. I have not seen any deleted scenes or any "behind the show" type things, but I came across a few videos with clips of the characters dancing in old fashioned clothes by the plane wreckage on the beach. The above link is the only thing I have seen that is not a mashup or just clips, but a video of just them dancing, I am not sure the song has anything to do with it - just curious about the video?

    Anyone have any info?

    thanks

  • Help with my cat? She keeps throwing up? Already been to the vet...?

My cat is almost 8 years old. She is a shorthair calico and shares the house with a long haired kitty. She was throwing up a lot - her food or just spit, a lot of gagging before the actual act.

On a Thursday morning I took her to the vet - they did X rays, checked her Urine, everything to rule out something serious. She came back from the vet and I secluded her in the bathroom to avoid puke on the carpet for about a day and a half, she did not throw up at all. They gave me pills to give her for gastric issues and I have given them to her as directed, she actually has 6 of them left (6 more days).

The following Thursday I took her with me to my parents house until this past Tuesday when we returned home. Her behavior has been normal as far as eat. drink, bathroom habits, sleeping, playing etc.

this morning, she started to throw up again - food sometimes and spit sometimes. Poor baby what is wrong?

I will continue to give her the pills, I also bought some stuff at the store today for hairballs that is like a fish flavored paste to put on her paw so that she will lick it off. She did. I also changed from Iams adult indoor weight management and hairball care to Iams digestive health. She has eaten a tiny bit of it. I haven't heard her or seen any piles she has left me so far.

I am hoping this works, anyone else have any suggestions?

  • What is appropriate for the gift registry?

Okay my fiance and I have both owned our own home before getting together, so we have two of a lot of the normal things people ask for on registries like toaster ovens, crockpots etc. I have my grandmothers china, and there really is not anything we NEED.

I figured we could register for a matching pot and pan set since ours are mix and match and old, some camping gear since we both love to camp but do not have a lot of it, but past that there is just not a lot we need and we don't have a lot of space for extra things.

Would it be rude to ask for money towards our honeymoon and for paying off my student loans in place of a gift? I feel like it is, but yet if that is truly what we need, then why not? If you think it is okay to ask, how would you word it on the registry info or how would you get the word out?
