  • Facebook privacy settings...?

I recently noticed that, in my newsfeed, I can see when my friends comment in other groups (groups that I am not a member in). I dont want other people seeing comments I make in different groups I am in. What settings do I need to have to avoid this? Will things show up even if a group is "closed" or "private"?

  • Black specs in mucus...?

Our family recently got sick (flu, I think). Fever, chills, congestion, coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat. It's been miserable and going on for over a week now. Today I was in the shower. I coughed up some phlegm and spit it in the shower. I looked at it and noticed it had black specks in it. I thought it might be food particles at first but it was not. What is going on with me? This illness is horrible. I'm not a smoker, btw.

  • Am I over-reacting or an "Indian giver"...?

I gave a large amount of baby clothes to a family member. All of the clothes I gave her were given to me for free (by others in the family or as gifts from the family). They were nice clothes, some new. Since these clothes were given to me, I passed them along for FREE to my sister in law. I realize not every single item can always be used as children grow fast or are born in different seasons, but now nearly all the clothes I've given her are for sale on a garage sale site. Never in my life have I tried to make a buck off of free things someone gave me, I never thought she would, but she has. I was trying to help her out as others have helped me. Others in the family saw the clothes for sale and are upset too. I don't care that she is getting rid if them, I'm just upset she is charging people money for them. I feel like I should say something to her to ask her to stop selling them but give them away instead. I want to present it in a way that isnt attacking but saying I should have said something before giving them to her. Do you think I'm out of line?

  • What kind of organization would a playgroup be?

I'm trying to start a local playgroup. I want to try and get donations to help pay for liability insurance (in case a kid got hurt) and help pay for the cost of renting a gym to meet at. I would volunteer my time, so no employees. I don't want anyone to be able to sue *me* in case of injury or anything. Would I set this up as a non-profit or what?

  • Birthday party: Is it lame to not have food?

Renting out an indoor play area. My son is three and it will mainly be family with one or two exceptions (adults included). I want to provide drinks, cake, and ice cream. But every party I've been to (like Chucky E Cheese) there has been pizza/food. I cant afford more than cake/ice cream/drinks. Is that lame or acceptable? It's not like I even expect extravagant presents in return or anything- I just want everyone to play and have a good time.

  • What religion/denomination is this....?

I'm trying to figure out what denomination this is. It's Christian, but they don't really use the Bible but instead rely on revelation from God and focus on living life by example. Has anyone heard of this?

  • Does the Catholic Church teach that it's okay for people to research and educate themselves?

I do a lot of research before making decisions. I read books, look at research and studies. A person in the family keeps saying "you can find statistics to support anything" in a negative way pretty much saying that we can't rely on research and studies to make our decisions. I use credible studies, not just someone's opinion.there are facts and references cited, etc. If science tells me one thing, and the Church confirms it, or doesn't deny it- I usually follow that path.

To give an example- Breastfeeding is best. Science supports this and the Church does as well.

Does the Church or any Popes have any statements regarding that we have a responsibility to obey (or at least consider) good science and that we have a responsibility to educate ourselves and look at different resources to make our decisions?

    Thanks...

  • What's the role of a mother in our society?

I'm just getting a little survey-type thing going for a group discussion I'll be having in a few weeks. The topic is on parenting and specifically the way our society views the roles of mothers.

I'd like to hear from you- what do you think a role of a mother includes? It could be elaborate or short...whatever you want to put. It could also be your personal feelings or what you think our society as a whole believes.

Thought I might get more answers here than in surveys. Thanks :)

  • How does our society view marriage and roles of husbands/wives?

I'm just doing a little survey out of curiosity. You can answer A) How YOU personally view marriage and the roles of husband/wife (or I guess even wife/wife husband/husband if you agree with same-sex marriage!) or B) How you think the majority of Americans view marriage and the roles within it.

It can be as short or as detailed as you like. It would be nice if you note how you're answering as well (A or B or if they are both the same say "C")

    Thank you :)

  • Cloth Diapers: Bum Genius All in one One Size or Fuzzi Bunz One Size (or other)?

I'm debating doing cloth diapers with Baby #2 we're expecting this fall. I tried cloth diapers with our first and I didn't really like it. I used G Diapers. I didn't really like G Diapers. I didn't mind cleaning the insert but cleaning the liner that snaps in was a hassle. The plastic snaps also dug in to my son and left red marks, and he quickly outgrew them, even though he is small and we didn't start using them until he was 1 and his growth had slowed already.

So I'm leaning more towards a one size that will grow with baby. I also like the idea of a all in one diaper because, like I said, it was a pain (for me) to clean the insert and the liner. So I like the Idea of AIO but then I wonder how clean they get and if they get build up? And would they wear out quicker?

I'm really afraid to invest in cloth diapers since it didn't work out well last time but part of it was my own laziness. THe other part was I only bought a few, and mixed with disposables. So by the time I dirtied all 6 of them it took a few days and then the diaper bucket was kind of gross and a pain to clean out. I think it would go better if I bought 12-15 diapers (especially with a newborn coming) so I would dirty enough to do a load every day. but the problem with that is that I have to spend a lot of money. And then if that doesn't solve my problem I'm out a lot of money I can't afford to lose right now.

Anyway, looking for advice and if anyone has used both Bum Genius AIO One size and Fuzzi Bunz One Size and which one they liked better.

I'm also planning on trying EC with this one too, if that makes any difference.

  • Baby # 2: Eleven weeks pregnant and feeling contractions already?

This is my second pregnancy. I didn't feel any BH contractions with my first. I only started feeling contractions after I was induced. I did experience the normal cramping and pain though throughout pregnancy.

This is my second and there have been a couple times lately where I swear it seems like I'm having a contraction. Its a shooting pain all down my belly like what I felt when I was in labor with #1, but obviously not nearly as severe. But it does grab my attention and make me say "ow!". I'm pretty in tune with my body and its not the same as cramping, or a gas bubble or other normal pregnancy issues I had with my first or thus far in this pregnancy. I know BH can happen as early as 6 weeks but it just seems too soon for this!

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas if it could be something else?

  • What to look for in a sewing machine?

I'm expecting my second child, and I would like to sew some of my own baby slings, and maybe use it for other simple things like a baby blanket or repairing my husbands ripped jeans, etc.

The problem is I have practically zero sewing experience and have no idea what to look for when shopping for one. I sewed a "pot belly" pillow-type thing in home economics in 6th or 7th grade and thats the exent of my experience.

What type of machine should I look for? And how much is this type of machine going to cost?

    Thanks

  • Cosleeping with more than one child...?

My son will be 28 months old when our new baby arrives. He's almost 21 months now. He cosleeps with me and dad, and he nurses several times at night. I've heard from others its best to have mom or dad in between the baby and toddler, since the toddler can crawl over on top of the new baby.

However, since my son still nurses at night, he is in the habit of crawling over me at night to switch sides to nurse. So even if I have one child on either side of me, I'm worried my son will still crawl over and hurt the baby. I would *like* my son to be night weaned or get better used to cuddling my husband more but my son is high needs and I don't think it would go well if I tried to force it.

I'm curious if anyone else has faced this issue and how it worked out? We do have my sons crib set up next to our bed, which sometimes he is half/mostly in during parts of the night. He does move quite a bit. Once the baby gets here and I may be tandem nursing, maybe my son will get used to staying on one side at night, while the baby has the other side, and get out of the habit of moving around so much?

    Thoughts and advice please....

  • Freezing food- whats the best containers to use?

I just found out I'm pregnant with Baby #2 and I remember after Baby #1 I didn't have much time for cooking. I'd like to freeze some meals ahead of time before baby gets here. I have frozen soups and chili before in mason jars and that worked fine but I'm curious what kind of containers or system can I use for meals such as lasagna or chicken pot pie, etc. Would I buy some disposable foil pans? If so, what would I use to cover the top? Or just use the plastic tops that come with it? But is that leaving too much air in the container? I'd like to avoid using plastic if I can just because I'm paranoid of the BPA leeching into the food... lol

  • Good books to read for a natural and/or home birth?

Expecting baby number two and want to go all natural this time (*almost* made it last time). A home birth would be nice but not sure if possible. Want to look in to more info about both. Hoping to pick them up from the library. Any personal advice is welcome too. Thanks :)

  • Where does the bible say there is more to know than what is written in these words?

    ..or something like that?

I've heard it before, but I've never seen it. Either way I'm sure its in reference to that specific book probably? Can you tell me where it says something like that please?

  • Acts 15:29-- "unlawful marriage" or "fornication question...?

So I've read a couple different versions of this verse. I think the apostles are talking to the Gentiles. The Standard American Edition says:

"that ye abstain from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, it shall be well with you. Fare ye well."

    The New American Bible says:

"namely, to abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from meats of strangled animals, and from unlawful marriage. If you keep free of these, you will be doing what is right. Farewell."

    ______________________________________________________________________

    Questions:

"Fornication" is used in the first translation. "Unlawful Marriage" in the second. Is there a difference? And what, according to the time and people, would have been considered "fornication" or "unlawful marriage"? Would same-sex marriage/relationships have been been considered, at the time and by the people relative to the scripture, unlawful or fornication? Were the apostles speaking about what THEY would have thought to be unlawful marriage, or what the Gentiles would have thought to be unlawful marriage (or would it have been the same either way)?

Try not to go off on other tangents but stay relevant to my questions please! Thanks.

  • Breastfeeding: Can your prolactin levels be high enough to prevent pregnancy even if your menses have returned?

I know all about breastfeeding and how it suppresses ovulation while your prolactin levels are high (especially while baby is exclusively breastfed). I'm currently nursing my 18 month old son. My menses returned 8 months post partum. But I believe they returned because I followed some bad advice and put my son on a feeding schedule. Since, I have started feeding him on demand again, whenever he needs it. He eats very little solids.

I'm curious if there is any research or info out there regarding this- even though my menses have returned could my prolactin levels still be high enough to signal to my body to not support a pregnancy? How high does your prolactin level have to be to suppress ovulation and is there any way to know how high it is?

    Thanks- just curious.

  • New ideas for in the bedroom.....?

Let me start off by listing our most pressing problems:

Me (wife): Very insecure about myself and lack creativity. I'm open to try new thing but I lack the confidence to initiate. I also like to plan ahead. Mostly to help with the confidence. If I plan something out and rehearse it in my head, I get more confidence. We also have a child, so all of that hurts the "spontaneous" aspect.

Husband: Prude, lacks desire (but tries very hard for me) and has some confidence issues, feels a lot of pressure from me.

On our most recent discussion we uncovered he needs variety, instead of the same stuff all the time. We're pretty conservative, so bringing in other people is out of the question, so no suggesting that. lol

I've been trying to do some new things, for example, the last couple times I've tried focusing more on a hand job instead of ******** (which I prefer), and I also dressed up in a school-girl skirt he likes. But I need more ideas. He's reluctant to role play. He doesn't like foreplay. He's uncomfortable talking about it, although he is making the effort.

What other things can we try? What are some of your favorite things/positions/ etc?
