  • Why are the light keys on my laptop backwards?

The keys on my laptop seem to be working in reverse, so the key that turns dims the light makes it brighter and vice versa. It works normally when it s plugged in so I m confused. I recently upgraded to Windows 10, could it be a minor bug related to that?

  • How do I send a message to other users?

On another Yahoo! Answers user's profile page, there is no option to send them a personal message or any information about their email address. I cannot reply to messages sent by them because it sends the messages instead to answers-alert@cc.yahoo-inc.com, and then claims there was an error.

Is there any other way to send a message to another user?

  • The Japanese characters for the sentence "Your training is incomplete" or an approximation?

It's for a graphic novel I'm writing and I'd be very pleased if anybody could give me the Japanese translation for the aforementioned sentence.

  • Why is my girlfriend cheating?

We were playing hide and seek and I could tell she was peeking when I went to hide. She's such a cheat. A no-good cheat.

  • Can I use Sherlock Holmes in my fiction?

As far as I know, the character Sherlock Holmes, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is in the public domain and he appears in various works of fiction by other authors. I intend to include Holmes himself and other characters as secondary characters in a work of fiction I am creating and intending to make money from.

Is Sherlock Holmes definitely in the public domain? Is there definitely no copyright on the character? Would there be trademark issues if I were to include the character? Would there be trademark issues if I were to use the name "Sherlock Holmes" somewhere in the title (which I do not intend to)?

  • Why does my right leg hurt when I walk fast?

I consider myself a fairly healthy person. I am naturally quite skinny and I walk nearly every weekday to college, which usually takes around half an hour and I never have any issues with this particular routine.

However, When I am faced with extreme urgency and I pick up the pace during a walk to, for example a bus that I desperately want to get to, my right calf suddenly begins to ache. Sometimes it it just s small nuisance, but when I'm feeling very urgent the pain becomes very extreme and I find myself limping, even though I'm very sure I have quite healthy legs. This issue has become more common in recent weeks, but I have not visited a doctor because I'm sure I have no medical issues. I think I shall go to a doctor anyway, because I admit I don't know a lot about muscular science.

Does anybody know why my leg is doing this? The muscle feels no tighter than the one on my left leg. Part of me believes it may be a psychological thing, since it is the same leg which my brother suffered an awful traffic accident about five years ago. I know nothing of psychology so I can't say I find this likely.

Why do I suffer this pain only when I'm in a rush?

I was wondering, since anybody can self-publish a novel on Amazon, is it possible to do that same with a graphic novel of your own making?

  • How do I secure copyright of a novel and/or characters of my own creation?

I am writing a work of fiction and am in the stages of completing a manuscript. On publishing it as a novel (the plan is to self-publish it on Amazon), how can I be sure to own and secure the copyright of my characters and distinctive conceptual elements?

  • What is the copyright status of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the United Kingdom?

Does the copyright of L. Frank Baum's children's fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz still apply in the United Kingdom, or is it in public domain?

Bear in mind that copyright tends to expire in the UK 70 years after the death of the owner, and Baum died in 1919, which would place the end of his works' copyright in the year 1989. I just wanted to make sure that there was not some renewal of the copyright or some complication which allows his estate to retain copyright in the UK.

So, are the works of L. Frank Baum, such as The Wizard of Oz, in public domain in the UK?

    Thank you.
